The boy dropped his spoon, pouting and frowing while looking at you. You had therefore succesfully protected your piece of chocolate cake from the voracity of your five-years-younger neighbour. He looked really adorable even pouting, the bright sun of spring casting beautiful shadows on his face. It was starting to get warm so both of you were sitting on a terrace of a nice café, enjoying the afternoon breeze.

You two had been being neighbours for the past 14 years, with both of you being only children, you kind of stuck together at first, developing a friendship through the years. Most of your friends couldn't understand how could you put up with a 18 year old boy, but you actually liked it.  Playing endless tournaments of Soul Calibur IV in which you always defeated him mercilessly, followed by him smashing you into pieces when it came to Mario Kart. Also, you could talk about anything with him without being questioned; he always listened to you with all his attention and gave you his sincere advice, and viceversa. More than a few times he was threatened to go back home by his mother, but he always stayed until you were finished talking. So when he passed the exam to enter your University, the least you could do was take him out to the nice pattiserie he liked. But you weren't counting on how hungry the boy was.

"You really are mean."

"Just because I said I would invite you to celebrate that you passed your entrance exam gives you no right to steal my cake."

"But I'm still hungry" 

"Then go order another one" a bright smile spreaded on his face "but you have to pay for it yourself." He went back to sulking, pressing himself down the chair. You chuckled, putting a spoonful of cake into your mouth, humming as the slightly bitter taste of dark chocolate reached your taste buds. 

He sighed and got up, walking to the counter to choose another cake for himself. You watched him walk away, thinking about the following year. Just during one year, you would be able to drive to and from University with him. Since you were neighbours and his parents didn't have much confidence in his driving skills, you were on charge of the drive (he had accepted only under the condition he had the right to drive you there twice a term, though).
