Newlyweds

[ONE-SHOT] Newlyweds

Junhyung sighed as he opened the first box of many. The contents were wrapped in bubble wrap so they wouldn't break during their travel. He reached in and laced his fingers around a vase his parents had given to him as a wedding gift. Junhyung unwrapped the item and looked at the gift. The body of the vase was clear, any possible contents inside would be seeable, with several large pink azalea flowers painted across the widest part of it. He couldn't help but grimace at the delicate glass in his hands. He knew his mother loved the vessel, she had one similar on the countertop in her kitchen, but it didn't suit Junhyung's taste. He liked more simple, solid color items. Floral was his enemy.

Junhyung quietly muttered to himself as he placed the delicate vase on a shelf. "Only for a while. . .when she sees it up, I'll take it down and put it in the closet or something. . ." He planned, deciding to only have it in sight when his mother visited. He looked back down at the brown cardboard box and bent down to retrieve the bottom half of a lamp. It was made of dark mahogany and had a design of grapes and a wine bottle etched into the circular base. The shade was an off-white, almost tan color with a vine flowing over it with green grapes colored on it. It was very. . .not his style. At all. He scowled at it, wondering where it came from. His mother probably put it in the box without him seeing.

He sighed and wrapped the lamp back up, not letting it see the world more than it had. He placed it back in the box, no where else to put it besides the floor. Junhyung thought to himself about what kind of couches and coffee tables they would buy later that day. Or tomorrow. Whenever Hyunseung woke up.

Junhyung knelt down and ripped open another box of valuables. They were mostly books his brother gave him in an effort to clean his room and dispose of unwanted items. Junhyung pushed it aside and opened another cardboard box, only to find pictures and frames from the past. Junhyung smiled and felt his face glow when he gently picked up a picture frame. He ran the pad of his thumb over the happy face in the picture, mind going back to the happy night. His wedding night. When he and Hyunseung said 'I do' and became one. When they danced their first dance together, cut their first cake together, spent their first night as a married couple together. Junhyung smiled as he stared at the wedding picture. Junhyung looking suave in his black suit, brown hair combed perfectly, eyes glistening, cake covering his mouth and the tip of his nose. Hyunseung in his white suit, blonde hair with a slight wave to it, doe eyes wide and shining, cake up to his cheek bones.

Junhyung smirked and held back a laugh as he remembered the cake being smashed in his face by Hyunseung, only to have the elder run away in fear of Junhyung retaliating. His attempts failed, for Junhyung had caught him and pushed his face into the bottom tier of the white cake. They were both laughing and giggling so hard they had to wait twenty minutes to take a decent picture without bursting into laughter.

He looked past the frame in his hand towards the others still in the box. Them, their families, friends, photos of the most precious and most random moments in their lives. Junhyung's face softened at the memories of meeting Hyunseung, dating Hyunseung, proposing, every moment they had spent together.

"Junnie!" Yelled Hyunseung as he  jumped onto Junhyung's back, causing the younger man to fall forward and land on his face with a yell. Hyunseung giggled and wrapped his arms around Junhyung's neck as he made himself comfortable on the other's back. "So, Junnie~ Whatcha wanna do today?" He sang before cocking his head and biting his lip. Junhyung bent his neck and looked behind him to answer the question. "We need to go furniture shopping."

Hyunseung nodded before rolling off and laying on the ground, arms and legs spread out. He stared up at the ceiling and turned his head, eyes focused on the light. "I wanna paint the walls." He blurted out. Junhyung sat up and leaned back on his hands.

"Wha? When we bought this house you said you liked the walls white!"

"They would look better if they were painted." Hyunseung said as he stood up and pointed at a wall. "That wall will be pink, that one blue, that one yellow, that one green, that one. . .how about orange? Yeah, orange. Our room can be, like, rainbow colors splattered over the walls. Ooh! The kitchen can be turquoise, and the bathro--" Hyunseung stopped when Junhyung placed a hand over the rambling mouth.

Junhyung sighed and looked down at his feet. "Hyunseung, we're not doing that." He looked up from the floor and faced a pouting husband. "No! Nononono don't do that, we can paint them, just not all those colors!" He reasoned, hoping Hyunseung would stop pouting. But the doe eyed man continued, bottom lip slightly trembling. Junhyung sighed and kicked himself on the inside for being such a softy. "Okay, two colors in here, but I choose the colors for our room! Alright?!"

Hyunseung's pout flipped into a smile as he flung his arms around Junhyung. "Yay! Let's go buy stuff now!" He yelled happily before skipping around the many boxes toward the front door. Junhyung let out a heavy sigh as he could already hear his wallet crying out for help.

~*~*~

"Hyunseung!" Junhyung hissed under his breath as the other man bounded across the store. Junhyung glanced around at the other customers and their curious looks. He quickly followed after Hyunseung, occasionally calling for him to stop skipping and to walk like a civilized person. The couple passed rows and rows, two full floors of couches, chairs, tables, desks, lamps, rugs, and other home necessities. When Junhyung reached the top of the escalator on the third floor,  he turned a corner and ran into a stationary Hyunseung. "Oof." Junhyung grunted as he collided with his husband's back before stumbling backwards.

"What are you doing, Seung?" he asked as he rested his hands on his knees and bend forward, trying to catch his breath. He really should work out more.

Hyunseung turned around and smiled. "Did you see anything you liked?" Junhyung gaped at the question. "Wh-what?" He breathed out.

"When we were running around the store, did you see anything that caught your interest?" Hyunseung asked again, face innocent.

"Wait, you made me chase after you throughout the entire mothering store just so we could look around?!" Junhyung yelled, still out of breath. Hyunseung just nodded and smiled in response. Junhyung hung his head with a heavy sigh. "Seung, I didn't see anything. I was too focused on making sure you didn't break a chair in half or something."

Junhyung straightened his back and stepped toward Hyunseung. "Let's go back down to the first floor and actually look around, you know, not run around." Junhyung said as he put his hands on Hyunseung's shoulders. The doe eyed man just nodded and smiled.

Junhyung sighed. "I swear you're a five year old sometimes." He mumbled under his breath as he laced his fingers in Hyunseung's and led him back down to the first floor. The couple looked around, Junhyung checking the price tag and shaking his head while Hyunseung blabbered about why he liked a specific item.

"This one! Junnie! This one!" exclaimed Hyunseung each time he saw a couch over Junhyung's budget and had the option of being pink. Junhyung just sighed and let Hyunseung have his fun while he paid attention to price and reliability. He couldn't help but smile at Hyunseung's horrible choices. They all were made from cheap fabric that would fall apart within two months and would show any and all stains.

"Hey Seungie, how about this one?" Junhyung asked as he laid his eyes on a two piece black leather couch. Hyunseung grimaced as he looked at it. "No." He said stubbornly before walking over to lime green eyesore. "I like this one."

Junhyung sighed. "Seung, that won't fit in with the rest of our house, this will be better and," he checked the price tag, "it's on sale, right in our, my, budget." Junhyung looked away as he saw Hyunseung begin to pout.

"Oooh I want that!" Junhyung felt Hyunseung walk past him, vision focused on a coffee table. Junhyung smiled and looked at Hyunseung. "Babe, we're not having any pets, so we can't get this table." He wrapped an arm around Hyunseung's shoulders. The table was nothing but a fish tank with a piece of glass on the top for the table. Junhyung glanced over and saw a table that would match their new leather couch.

"Hyunseung, let's get this." He pointed at a plain black table with metal legs. Hyunseung stuck his tongue out at it. "It's ugly."

"You only think it's ugly because it's not colorful." Junhyung reasoned as he raised a brow at Hyunseung. The older man just giggled and nodded before skipping away to the second floor.

Junhyung laughed as he watched his husband skip up the escalator. He quickly found a salesperson and told him they would be buying the leather couch and black coffee table and a few other items before he ran upstairs, hoping Hyunseung hadn't caused any trouble.

"Jun! Jun look! It matches the other things you wanna buy!" Hyunseung said as he collided into Junhyung's chest after running towards him. He pointed at a black shelf that did, indeed, match the couch and table.

"Good job, Seung." Junhyung said with a smile as he kissed the top of Hyunseung's head. The couple enlaced their hands and wandered around together, picking out lamps and rugs and chairs and other pieces they needed for their new home.

They left the store empty-handed, but the store promised their new furniture would be delivered the next day. Junhyung politely smiled and nodded as he wrapped an arm around Hyunseung's waist as they walked out the door. "I love our new furniture!" Squealed Hyunseung as he clapped his hands together with excitement. Junhyung kissed the older man's temple and nodded. "Yeah, me too, babe."

~*~*~

" What? You sure this time? Don't want to make any changes?" Junhyung said as he looked at the can of red paint in Hyunseung's hands.

"Yup. Now let's hurry before we go to bed." Hyunseung chirped as he laid down a large tarp on the wooden floor to avoid any paint from ruining it. He opened the can and poured some of the red liquid into a pan while Junhyung grabbed brushes and paint rollers. Hyunseung decided to leave all the walls white except for the one they would hang their flat screen television on. Junhyung decided to follow along with the idea, he was expecting Hyunseung to paint the walls hot pink and neon green.

Junhyung covered a rolling brush in the bright paint before rolling it over the wall. He focused on making the paint cover evenly and that nothing dripped, too focused to see Hyunseung out of the corner of his eye. Hyunseung quietly giggled to himself as he stalked over to Junhyung and quickly swiped his paint brush over Junhyung's nose, successfully covering it and half Junhyung's cheek in red paint.

Junhyung's mouth gaped as he went cross eyed, staring at his red nose. He looked over at Hyunseung disbelievingly before scoffing. "That all you got?" He laughed and grabbed a brush, dipping it in the can of red liquid before lunging at Hyunseung. Hyunseung giggled and skipped away, hiding behind a row of boxes that were in need of unpacking. Junhyung smirked and circled Hyunseung, arm stretched out as he held the brush like a sword.

Hyunseung giggled and held up his own paint covered brush in defense. The elder squeaked in surprise as Junhyung flicked his brush, successfully splattering paint down Hyunseung's body. Junhyung smiled in triumph, only to be replaced with a blank face as Hyunseung retaliated and did the same to his lover.

"Oh you're gonna get it now." Junhyung threatened with a grin as he moved over and dipped his hand in the can of red paint. When he was bent over he felt something hit his and then heard it hit the ground. He turned around and saw Hyunseung's paint brush on the floor, he looked at his to see a large red spot  from the paint. Hyunseung giggled as he inched away from Junhyung, only to be stopped by a wall behind him.

Junhyung darkly grinned as he walked over towards his husband, hand dripping a trail of paint. Junhyung held his hand up threateningly, paint resembling blood as it trailed down his arm. He lunged forward as he flicked his hand, paint flying and covering Hyunseung and the white walls around him. Hyunseung giggled  as he held out his hands to keep the paint from getting in his face. Junhyung smiled and moved forward before grabbing Hyunseung's hands with his clean hand and smearing red paint over the elder's mouth and nose.

Hyunseung gaped at Junhyung before wiping his own hand through the paint on his face. He jumped forward and smeared his hand on Junhyung's jaw before he pranced away with a giggle. He was in mid-step when he felt Junhyung grab his shirt from behind and run his hand over Hyunseung's forehead and through the top of his blonde locks. Hyunseung gasped as he turned around to face Junhyung who had a smug look on his face. "Did you just do that?!"

Junhyung just smirked at Hyunseung's surprised look. "You started it." He said, making him sound like a ten year old. Hyunseung gaped at Junhyung. "Do you know how long it will take me to get this out of my hair?!" Hyunseung shrieked, unable to cover up his obvious smile. He ran across the room and dipped his hand in the paint can before turning around and swinging his arm so paint flew everywhere. Junhyung laughed as he felt the paint cover his body. He glanced around himself and noticed the walls had red splatter on them, ruining their pure whiteness. Hyunseung followed Junhyung's gaze and he felt his shoulders sink when he saw what they did. "Uh. . .sorry Ju--"

"I like it." Junhyung said with a smile as he looked at Hyunseung. "We can finish painting that one wall, then the rest of them can be just. . .red splatter. Yeah?" He rolled up sleeves as he walked over to Hyunseung and kissed his temple, covering the milky skin with red goop. "Come on, let's finish so we can go wash this off." He said as he reached around Hyunseung for a rolling brush. Hyunseung smiled and hugged Junhyung before picking up his own forgotten brush and began painting once again.

It only took the couple an hour to finish painting the wall before they showered. The dried paint in Hyunseung's hair proved to be a challenge to wash out, but Junhyung helped his husband to scrub the red from his blonde hair. Junhyung laughed as Hyunseung grumbled and bad mouthed the paint as it refused to come off his hair.

After a full nights sleep on a mattress on the floor in their bedroom, the two woke up to a delivery truck pulling up with all their furniture. After a group of overly-muscular men unloaded the furniture, Junhyung signed a few papers and sent them on their way. As he closed the front door, he turned around to see Hyunseung already laying on the leather couch. "Hyunseung, what are you doing?" Junhyung asked as he walked up towards the couch.

"Schells veird." Hyunseung said with his face pressed up against the leather. He withdrew from the fabric and took a deep breath. "It smells weird." He pouted.

Junhyung laughed at Hyunseung as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Well, yeah, I was kinda expecting that. Were you thinking it would smell like strawberries or something?" Hyunseung's face lit at the words.

"You mean we can do that?!" He asked excitedly, causing Junhyung to laugh.

"No, I was joking. Now let's arrange this stuff." Junhyung said as he motioned Hyunseung off the couch. The older man frowned but complied. "You take care of this, I'll be in the kitchen." Hyunseung twittered as he skipped off, leaving Junhyung to deal with the heavy furniture while he set up their new appliances they got as wedding gifts. He carefully arranged the microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and other little devices to his liking before wandering back into the living room.

The shelf they had bought was in the far corner, next to the television. One part of the couch was up against the wall while the other half stuck out in the middle of the room. The coffee table was in front of the couch with a specific flower vase on top of it. Hyunseung smiled as he moved into their room to see Junhyung had built the bed frame and placed the mattress on it.

Hyunseung's face softened as he saw Junhyung sprawled out on the mattress, face buried in the pillows. Hyunseung walked over and sat of the edge of the bed, only to have Junhyung swing his arm around and capture his waist before pulling him down next to him. Hyunseung giggled as he looked into Junhyung's sleepy face. "You jerk, leaving all the hard work to me while you go play with a damn toaster." Junhyung muttered with his eyes closed before kissing Hyunseung softly on the lips.

Hyunseung giggled before snuggling into Junhyung's chest. "You did a good job, it looks great." He said as he returned a kiss. "Now we have to unpack all those boxes." He said as he tried to sit up. The arm around his waist didn't let up, so he reached around and slapped Junhyung's . "Come on, get up." Junhyung just growled and tightened his grip on Hyunseung.

"I'm tired, let's rest for a little while." He mumbled as he nuzzled into Hyunseung's neck. Hyunseung sighed and giggled at the hot air being breathed onto his neck, but complied as he made himself comfortable in Junhyung's arms. Unpacking could wait a little while.
