My First

AN: SPRING BREAK. I’M FREE FOR A WEEK!!!

Jinki remembered everything he wanted to happen during his first date. He had the entire thing planned out in his mind.

It would’ve been the stereotypical romantic dinner and walk through the park in the evening. He’d wrap his arm around his date, pulling them close before kissing them softly.

He’d then walk them home and stand on the doorstep with them, brushing their hair from their face with his finger before quietly saying goodnight and kissing them once more.

It would be perfect, filled with flowers and gentle words, not to mention wonderful food and even holding hands. Jinki was sure he would have the most perfect date in the entire world, who sat prettily and smiled at everything he said.

Too bad that was just a dream. Why?

Lee Taemin.

Not only was the boy stubborn and completely adorable, but he teased Jinki every which way he could. They were best friends, but despite this, Taemin had no idea about Jinki’s little fantasy.

Which is why he was genuinely surprised when the elder had asked him out on a date in their first year of university. But he agreed, if only for the sake of figuring out why his recent obsession over the elder had grown and taken over every available spot in his chest.

Jinki had picked him up at his dorm late one Friday night, all decked out in a suit with perfect hair to match. Jinki remembered the look on Taemin’s face nearly made him laugh, but he kept composed as he handed a small bouquet of flowers to the boy.

He expected Taemin to smile and hug him. He didn’t expect the boy to sneeze upon sniffing the flowers and dropping the bouquet to the ground in panic.

“A-are those daisies?!”

“N-neh, I thought you said you weren’t allergic, Tae!”

“Those are lilies!”

Taemin rushed to the kitchen in his dorm, washing off his hot hands and splashing water on his face. Jinki sighed and picked up the bouquet, plucking the daisies from the bunch and throwing them in the waist basket.

Taemin smiled weakly at his hyung, wiping off his face and taking a look at the flowers.

“It’s pretty, Jinki…”

“You’re not allergic to anything else, right?” Jinki asked uneasily.

This was NOT how he had planned for his first perfect date to start. He pushed the bangs out of Taemin’s face, groaning when the boy sneezed again.

“Aish, I’m sorry, Taemin. I thought you weren’t allergic.”

“It’s okay, Hyung! Let’s just go out like you planned.”

Jinki gazed at Taemin, his eyes now taking in what the boy was wearing. Weren’t those pants uncomfortable to wear? They looked skintight, and the shirt he was wearing showed off his collarbone. Jinki blinked at him and held out his hand.

“Neh, let’s go.”

Taemin grabbed his hand, blushing the entire time as Jinki led him out of the dorm and down the halls to the outdoors. It was a chilly evening, so when Taemin shivered, Jinki offered him his jacket. Taemin took it gratefully, sneezing once more.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

“N-neh! Just a last sneeze from those daisies! I’ll be fine!”

Jinki trusted those words and held his hand tightly as he took the boy to an upscale restaurant, buzzing with people.

Taemin blushed, “Hyung…this looks…expensive.”

“It’s fine, Taemin.  Don’t worry, okay?”

Taemin nodded and they let the waiter take them to their table. Jinki smiled once they were seated near a window, the red tablecloth and dim lighting setting the mood. Jinki put his hands out, reaching for the brunette’s.

Taemin giggled, “Aish, Hyung, you really go all out, don’t you?”

“Of course,” Jinki said. He gripped Taemin’s hands tightly, “I’m glad you said yes…I—”

“Aren’t you two just adorable!”

Jinki couldn’t help but scowl for a moment as they looked up at the waitress. She was staring at him, her eyes glazed over with some half attempt at looking pretty.

Taemin snickered at his hyung, “Aren’t you going to agree with her, Jinki?”

“Neh. Thank you.”

Jinki was able to get her to leave after they placed a drink and an appetizer order,  and then he once again turned to Taemin.

“Taeminnie, what was I saying before?”

“You were glad I said yes!” Taemin said.

Jinki couldn’t help but smile in return. He had a major crush on his best friend, and he figured that if the rest of the date went perfectly like he'd planned, he would tell Taemin of his feelings.

“Aish!”

Jinki looked up when he saw Taemin jump up, his glass of water now spilled all over him and two waiters trying to help mop up the mess they spilled on him. Jinki stood up, helping Taemin dry off his shirt the best he could.

Jinki frowned, “Bathroom?”

Taemin squirmed, “No, it’s okay. It’ll dry.”

Jinki listened to the boy and sat back down, offering his own of glass of water to him. Taemin sipped it carefully. Jinki launched the next part of his perfect date, trying to make the boy laugh with his jokes and smiles. It was easy to make Taemin smile in his opinion, since the boy stuck to him like glue.

What should have been a conversation full of gentle talking and soft laughter turned out to be Jinki arguing with the waitress over their order being wrong twice and Taemin’s shirt sleeve catching on fire from the candle in the middle of the table.

The two left the restaurant after Jinki begrudgingly paid for their terrible dinner. He would make up for it though, and wrapped his arm around Taemin’s waist as they started to walk through the park.

“Hyung? Don’t you want your jacket?”

“You’re cold, Tae, keep it.”

Jinki leaned down to kiss Taemin’s forehead when he miscalculated his steps and fell forward, landing face first in the dirt.

Taemin giggled, “Oh, Jinki-hyung! Are you okay?”

Jinki groaned and sat up, brushing the dirt off his face.

“What else could go wrong tonight?”

As if karma had it out for him, a flash of lightning lit up the night sky and a roar of thunder shook them as rain started to pour down on them. Jinki had  had it. This was terrible, absolutely terrible. The goal of his perfect first date was to get Taemin to be his boyfriend, not show him what a terrible date he was.

Taemin got down to his knees, wiping the blonde hair from Jinki’s forehead.

 “You look so defeated, Hyung.”

“This was not what was supposed to happen! It was supposed to be perfect!” Jinki held onto Taemin’s hand tightly. “I was supposed to take you to a nice restaurant and make you laugh and kiss you under the stars after a wonderful walk through the park. Tonight’s been ruined!”

Taemin rolled his eyes.

“Aish, I love you, Jinki. Just being with you on a date means the world to me. It meant the world to me that you even asked me out after years of waiting!”

Jinki’s eyes widened, “Y-you love me?”

“Took you long enough, clumsy.”

Taemin swept down, kissing Jinki hard on the lips in the rain. The elder shut his eyes in delight, pulled Taemin closer to his body as their lips meshed together. The rain felt warm on his skin as Taemin’s fingers held onto his cheeks. Jinki was the first to pull away, breathing heavily as the rain made their hands slippery.

Taemin was smiling, “I don’t need a perfect date, Hyung, I just need you. Can we go back to your dorm and just watch a movie?”

It was through this that Jinki learned that while others may have expected the perfect date, Taemin did not. Simply curling up on a couch and cuddling was perfect to him. It was this reminder throughout the years that Jinki found he was lucky to have botched that first date with Taemin.

“Stop thinking about it, Hyung. I know that look.”

Jinki looked up at his boyfriend of three years and smiled when the boy flipped over the couch in their small apartment. Jinki simply pulled him close.

“How do you want to celebrate our anniversary? Dinner? A walk?”

“Just kiss me, you fool.”

Jinki gladly gave Taemin just that. When it came to their dates, he let Taemin do the planning because everything he could ever ask or wish for from him, was perfect.

Chapter 1: this was perfect.
At 1st its like- aww poor Jinki, he is trying so hard to be perfect. but then its like be yourself, Taemin loves you. And that is so real...real love doesn't need a fancy restaurant, all it needs is love and ontae have that. So in the end it really was a perfect date. A perfect date that suits them.

The part at the restaurant where his sleeve caught fire made me laugh lol.
