It was Valentine’s Day, yes the most lonely yet loving day in the whole school year and the whole year. Walking from class to class you saw boyfriends and girlfriends hug and kiss each other as they exchanged presents. Flowers, teddy bears and candies seemed to be in every girl’s arms except yours.

Trying to stay positive, you thought of all of the elementary school parties and how your Valentine’s Day box was always full but as you moved up in grades, everyone seemed to get more and more involved with boyfriends and girlfriends.

Now you were just one of the lonely faces in the crowd. Sitting in your seat in the next class. Your teacher got started as you were surrounded by guys. Leo sat next to you with Ravi, N, and Ken in the surrounding seats.

Scanning the girls around the class, everyone of them at least had a rose or flower of some sort and you were there with pencils and paper. You couldn’t help but feel lonely and wonder how it would feel to have someone give you something on Valentine’s Day.

"Since it is Valentine’s Day, I would like you all to write what you had gotten for presents today and what they represent." Your teacher requested as you wrote the title of your paper in fancy letters as you tried to think of what to say.

What I got today for Valentine’s Day…

"What are you going to write about?" Ken asked as he tapped you on the shoulder.

"Nothing, I don’t know. I will probably just make it up or something." You said as you looked at Ken straining a smile.

"Well, maybe… if someone were to do something… would you write it?" Leo asked quietly as you looked over at him with a hint of shock in your eyes as you never heard a question directed towards you from him.

"Ummm… I would write it somewhere but probably not this silly paper." You hinted as you thought of your diary that you kept at home. You got a slight smile from Leo as he watched you as N caught your attention, balancing a pencil on the bridge of his nose.

"What are you doing?" You tapped the end of the pencil as it fell off of his face.

"Wasn’t that impressive?" You giggled as he thought is was. You shook your head and showed him that it was easy for you to do too.

”________?” Leo whispered your name as you let the pencil run down your nose as you caught it in your hand before smiling at him.

"Would you…. I mean… Will you…." The ring of the bell cut him off as Ravi, N and Ken got up from their seats.

"What were you saying Leo?" You asked as the class shuffled all of their presents in their arms before walking out of the class.

"Will you…" Leo began again as Ravi put his hand on his shoulder.

"We better go if we want lunch." Leo tore his eyes away from yours as he nodded slowly.

"Can we talk later?" Leo asked as you nodded your head.

"Yeah I will see you in two more classes." You encouraged him as they all left, before you confronted the teacher.

"May I ask you a question?" You tapped on the teacher’s desk as the teacher nodded. "What if there isn’t anything, well I mean. What if I can’t write anything about today."

"Something will happen to you today, I can almost guarantee it." The teacher said with a grin as you bowed and walked off to lunch. Sitting right outside of the lunchroom, you were by yourself as you pulled out your book and began to read it happily as you ate.

Leo watched you though the glass as he got up and took his lunch and walked out to where you were.

"May I sit with you?" He asked you you lifted your head from the book, seeing that it was Leo you nodded your head and scooted over a little so that he could lean against the wall too.

"What book are you reading?" Leo asked to break the awkward silence as you held up the cover as you were too engrossed in your scene to tell him. He carefully read the back of the book as he hung over your shoulder and read some of the pages as you turned them.

"Can I ask you something?" Leo asked as you looked over at him as you nodded and marked your spot in the book.

"Sure" You gave him a small smile.

"Well…." Leo his lips as he saw the guys coming towards him.

"I really like your hair today, _______." Ken said as you blushed and smiled brighly.

"Thank you. I like your shoes." You pointed to his white high tops as he smirked and Ravi and N just scoffed and gave him faces.

"You all look nice. I love your sweater Leo, your beanie is awesome Ravi and N, well you know how to make yourself have an entrance." You heard a little giggle from Leo as you smiled brightly.

The bell rang again as N helped you up and you thanked him as they began to walk down the hall to their next class.

"Leo?" You called as he turned around and looked at you "Were you going to say something?"

"It can wait." He said sadly as you nodded, picking up your books before heading in the opposite direction to your class.

Throughout your next class you couldn’t help but wonder what Leo was trying to ask you the two times that the members interrupted.

Just then the door opened as one of the jocks came in and stood at the front of the class.

"I have a Valentine telegram for ______." He announced as your head shot up from your homework. Unfolding the paper, he faced you and gave his message.

"Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I know I am shy and I can’t say, but will you be my Valentine today?" He handed you the note as the girls sighed at how beautiful the note was as a rose accompanied it.

The girls glared at you as you smelled the sweet scent of the flower. Trying to concentrate on your class work you set the flowers at the head of your desk as your eyes kept glancing up at it as you mind couldn’t help but wonder who could have sent you something so wonderful.

Going to your next class you twisted the rose between your fingers as you went and sat in your next class that had Leo in the same class as you.

Sitting in your spot you smelt the flower as Leo took his seat in front of you working on his laptop and adding a slide at the end of his presentation.

"Looks like someone had a crush on you." Leo shyly smiled as you nodded.

"I really want to find out who it is before the day is over so I can thank him for not forgetting about me." You said as you put the flower down on your desk, once the teacher moved to the front of the class.

"We have presentations that are due today. Volunteers first." The teacher took his seat as the teachers pets rose their hands and went in front of the class.

About halfway through the class Leo rose his hand and the teacher nodded. He moved up in front of the class and nodded to the teachers assistant as he went through his presentation. You paid close attention to his body movements and what he was saying as time seemed to fly by. At the end of his presentation there was a big heart on the last slide as he looked directly at you.

"I have been trying to say this all day. _________ will you be my Valentine?" He looked at you as you couldn’t believe what was happening. Someone actually wanted you to be their Valentine.

Standing up from your seat, the class and the teacher watched you as you tucked some hair behind your ear as you slowly stalled.

"Leo, I would love to be your Valentine." You said as you walked to the front of the class.

"Really?" He turned and looked at you with a surprised expression as you nodded your head while you blushed and let a bright smile move onto your face.

"Happy Valentine’s Day." He whispered in your ear as the class gave both of you a standing ovation. Rounding out an unexpected yet happy Valentine’s Day.
