Duck Lips

Talk like a Duck

    The members of VIXX, sans N, were on their way back to the dorm after finishing their interview with Heejun on the Music InterVIEW.  They were all talking about and laughing at things that were shown or done during the interview like Ken’s old photos or Hyuk’s not so great impersonations.

    Leo was quiet, but that wasn’t unusual.  He was thinking about all the embarrassing moments that happened.  He was mostly happy that it was all over and now he could relax and not worry about having to do or say embarrassing things, but he couldn’t help but try to think of ways to prevent the embarrassment for next time.

    Leo didn’t know why people always insisted on him doing things that they knew he wasn’t comfortable with doing.  He figured that it would stop when others realized that he was uncomfortable, but instead, everyone seemed to find his discomfort amusing.

    Leo sighed.

    “Gwenchana, hyung?” Ravi asked quietly, sitting up in his seat to whisper in the older’s ear since Leo was seated in front of him.  The order of the seating never changed even if a member wasn’t present.  N sat in the passenger seat with Ken right behind him.  Leo sat onside of Ken, behind the driver’s seat, and Ravi, Hongbin, and Hyuk sat all the way in the back, Ravi behind Leo, Hongbin behind Ken, and Hyuk in the middle.

    Leo turned his head and eyed Ravi out of the corner of his eye.  The others hadn’t heard the rapper’s question, but they noticed the small interaction between the two.  Leo didn’t say anything, only responding by slightly nodding his head before turning back to the front.

    He had accidentally stole Ravi’s limelight, not that the rapper was so greedy for attention.  When Ravi was doing his impersonation of Donald Duck Leo couldn’t help but wonder how the younger managed to do it.  Momentarily forgetting that he was being recorded, Leo discreetly tried to sound like how Ravi was sounding.  At least he thought he was being discreet.  Ravi looked at him like he grew an extra head.  Leo apologized for interrupting Ravi, but then Heejun brought what Leo did to everyone’s attention- and cue the embarrassment.

    If Leo could actually impersonate Donald Duck properly, then it wouldn’t have even been such a huge deal that he covered his eyes instead of his mouth.  He was just too embarrassed.

    Leo would just have to ask Ravi to help him with the impersonation in case it ever came up again.  He started to blush at the thought of asking something so embarrassing.  He was about to sigh again, but stopped himself, realizing that the rapper would most likely hear him and ask him what was wrong.

    After they made it to the dorm, Leo locked himself in the bathroom and quietly tried to talk like Donald Duck. He wet his lips and relaxed his mouth.  He made sure to cover his mouth instead of his eyes this time. He tried to sound like the famous toon – earnestly – but it still didn't sound the same as when Ravi did it.

    Leo sighed and stepped out of the bathroom. He was going to have to ask for the rapper's help.

    "Hey, everything okay?" Ravi asked when Leo came out of the bathroom.

    Oh! Leo just stood there with the rapper's eyes on him. He felt like he was caught red handed.

    "You're not still embarrassed from the recording, are you?" Hyuk asked teasingly, throwing his arm around Leo's shoulders.

    Leo glared and shrugged the maknae off of him. Hyuk didn't act like he was the maknae that much anymore, especially if Hakyeon was nowhere around. Leo blamed Ken, Ravi, and Hongbin. Ken hated conflict, so he let the maknae do whatever, unless Hakyeon was there to yell at the youngest, in which case Ken would join the oldest. Ravi believed in treating everyone fairly, and Hyuk must have complained about being the maknae because most times Ravi treated Hyuk like they were the same age. Hongbin let Hyuk get away with some things, but he also chastised the younger when he felt like the maknae went too far. Not that it mattered.  You can't punish some bad deeds, and ignore others.

    Leo didn't plan on letting Hyuk have his way, though... at least not with him. He stared the maknae down until Hyuk quietly apologized and walked away.

    "Hyung," Ken whined. "Don't be so mean." Ken wrapped his arms around Leo and placed his head on the older vocalist's shoulder. Leo rolled his eyes. He still didn't know how to deal with Ken. The only thing that really seemed to work was violence, but Leo didn't want Ken to think that that was all he was capable of- violent acts. He didn't want to scare Ken.  Ken sometimes took it to heart whenever Leo acted violently.

    Leo looked over at Hongbin, who was watching them, amused. Leo sent a look to Hongbin that said, "Get him off of me before I kill him."

    Hongbin looked a bit worried as he rushed over to Leo and Ken. "Come on, hyung," Hongbin said as he tried to pry Ken off of Leo. "Let's go watch TV."  Ken just shouted some show that he wanted to watch and ran over to the couch with Hongbin.

    Leo rolled his eyes at the younger main vocalist, but turned his attention back to Ravi when the rapper started to chuckle.  He had watched the whole interaction quietly.  Ravi cleared his throat to stop laughing when he saw Leo staring at him.  He smiled softly at the older before heading towards his room.

    “Wait,” Leo called softly.  When Ravi stopped in his tracks, Leo looked over his shoulder to make sure that Ken and Hongbin hadn’t heard him.

    “What is it, Taekwoonie-hyung?” Ravi asked.

    Leo stumbled at hearing his real name.  “I was wondering…,” he started to say, looking down at his feet to avoid the rapper’s eyes, “can you- help me…”  Ravi tilted his head, wondering what Leo could need help with, but Leo just stopped there.  He wasn’t sure how to ask what he wanted to ask.  It was too embarrassing.

    Sensing the older’s distress, Ravi smiled rubbed Leo’s shoulder.  He lightly tapped Leo’s chin to get the older to look up at him.  “Hey, whatever it is, it’s okay,” Ravi said quietly, soothingly.  “You don’t have to worry about asking me for anything.  I’ll help any way I can.”

    Leo lightly smiled.  Ravi always made him feel safe and secure.  The rapper would chastise the others – that is Hakyeon and Ken – if they went too far concerning Leo, like the time that Hakyeon was saying how Leo was ruining it for the others by being sick.  Ravi stuck up for him and told Hakyeon not to say that about him.  Ravi even helped him during fan signings and meetings.  When fans wanted Leo to do aegyo, of course he didn’t want to.  He’d always shake his head no, and even Ravi would speak up for him, saying, “Andwae.”  Even though Leo was older, Ravi always protected him- helped him.

    “I want to… learn how to... impersonate Donald Duck,” Leo mumbled, blushing.

    Ravi’s smile grew as he stared into Leo’s eyes.  “Ne, araso,” he replied enthusiastically.

    Leo’s eyes widened when Ravi grabbed his hand and began to pull him towards the room that Ravi and Hyuk slept in.

    “Wa- wait!” Leo said, pulling his hand from Ravi’s grip.  “I didn’t mean now.”

    Ravi looked back at Leo questioningly.  “Why not now?”

    Leo opened his mouth to respond, but he really didn’t know how to answer.  He was still surprised that Ravi agreed so quickly.  And now the rapper wanted to do it right away.  It was happening too fast.  Leo needed time to overanalyze things and mentally work his way past the embarrassment and nervousness.

    “Come on,” Ravi said when he realized that Leo didn’t have a response.  He reached over and clutched the vocalist’s hand again.  He gave it a warm squeeze as he smiled at Leo before continuing to his room.

    Hyuk looked up from his phone, surprised, when Ravi and Leo started to come into his shared room with Ravi, but the oldest started to back up when he saw Hyuk.

    Ravi tightened his grip on Leo’s hand to keep the older from bolting and looked apologetically at Hyuk.  “Hey, Hyuk, can you let us use the room?” he asked.

    Hyuk opened his mouth to respond – sarcastically, Leo assumed – but the oldest stepped forward and spoke before the maknae could say anything.  “We need privacy.  You can go watch TV with Ken and Hongbin.”

    Hyuk closed his mouth and frowned at the demanding tone – or what he assumed to be a demanding tone, it was hard to tell with Leo sometimes.  He looked at Ravi for the rapper to say something, but Ravi seemed to agree with Leo.  Hyuk sighed and pouted as he got up.  “Fine,” he mumbled as he skulked out of the room.  Leo closed the door behind him, making Hyuk pout even more as he walked over to Ken and Hongbin.

    “What do Leo-hyung and Ravi-hyung have to do in private?” Hyuk asked the other two.

    “Mwo?” Hongbin asked. “What are you talking about?”  Both Hongbin and Ken were looking at Hyuk curiously.

    Hyuk sighed and sat on side of Hongbin.  “They just kicked me out, and Leo-hyung said that they needed privacy,” he replied.

    Hongbin just scrunched up his face as he thought of why the two could possibly need to be alone.  Ken on the other hand looked full of mischief.

    “Let’s go listen in at the door,” Ken suggested with a big grin on his face as he hopped up, prepared to go spy on the older vocalist and the rapper.

    Hyuk got up to go with Ken to listen at the door, but Hongbin pulled them both back down onto the sofa.  “Ani, ani,” he said, shaking his head, “we can’t do that.”

    “Waeyo~?” Ken whined, pouting.  Hongbin just shook his head and ignored the older.  “It’s not fair,” Ken eventually said when he realized that Hongbin wasn’t going to respond to him, “how come Ravi never gets glares from Leo-hyung, or things thrown at him?”

    Hongbin tilted his head.  He wanted to say that Ravi didn’t annoy Leo like Ken and Hakyeon did, but Hongbin figured that the vocalist wouldn’t care for that answer.

    “Why couldn’t they use the other room?” Hyuk asked no one in particular, frowning again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Donald Duck~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Leo sighed.  He had been doing like Ravi said, but he still didn’t quite sound the same as when the rapper did it.  It didn’t help that everything he had to do to talk like the Disney duck was embarrassing.  He had to cover his mouth, but he still felt like covering his eyes.  It was humiliating to do this.  Why did he want to sound like Donald Duck again?
    “Don’t try to say anything,” Ravi said.  “Just make noises.”  Then the rapper pursed his lips and began to demonstrate, but Leo jumped back, wiping at his face.
    “You’re spitting on me,” Leo said.
    “Oh, mianhe,” Ravi said, smiling.  His smiling turned into chuckling, and then the chuckling turned into full out laughter.
    Leo just frowned as he watched the rapper.
    “Mian, mian,” Ravi said, holding his hand up and trying to stop laughing.
    “What’s so funny?” Leo asked.
    Ravi smiled at the older and replied, “It just seems so unreal for you to ask me to help you with this, for you to even want to do this.”
    Leo frowned again.  He felt like Ravi was laughing at him.  Shaking his head, Leo started to get up to leave the room and forget all about Donald Duck and the cartoon character’s ridiculous way of speaking.
    “Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait,” Ravi said, quickly jumping up and pulling Leo back.  “Hyung, wait.”
    “This was a dumb idea,” Leo mumbled.
    “Aniyo,” Ravi said, clutching Leo’s arm “I’m glad that you came to me.”  Ravi’s hand trailed down Leo’s arm to grab and hold the older’s hand.
    Leo just looked down at their joined hands.  That was the third time that Ravi had held his hand.  He could feel the warmth radiating from the rapper’s hand, and it shocked him how comfortable it felt.
    “You can come to me about anything,” Ravi continued, sincerely.  “I want to be there for you.”
    Leo smiled and looked down.  “Gomawo,” he mumbled.  He was even blushing, but Ravi didn’t say anything about it, thankfully.
    “Now come on, I’ll help you get this,” Ravi said, pulling Leo back down to the floor.  They sat across from each other, legs folded Indian style.
    Ravi his lips and pursed them.  He had stopped covering his mouth so that Leo could see what all he was doing, but then Leo’s eyes were fixed on the rapper’s lips.
    Leo slightly tilted his head as he took in the image of Ravi’s little pink lips, puckering up into duck lips – the rapper didn’t need to do that to talk like Donald Duck, but he liked doing it for some reason.  Leo thought that duck lips would look ridiculous, but somehow, watching Ravi poof out his lips like that, he found it… alluring.
    Ravi noticed that Leo was blushing again, but he had no idea why.  He looked to the older’s eyes and saw that Leo was staring at his lips so that he could learn how to impersonate the cartoon character, but…
    Ravi wondered.  He slightly smirked before sticking the tip of his tongue out of his mouth.  Leo frowned a bit when he saw the tongue, wondering what the rapper was going to do.  Ravi then slowly his bottom lip before going up to his top lip.
    Leo watched fascinated, and when the younger bit his lips, Leo’s mouth formed a small “O” and he gasped quietly.
    Ravi grinned, realizing that he was affecting the older.  “You know, hyung,” Ravi said, sitting up on his knees, “I’ve always loved your singing.  Your voice… it does something to me.”
    Leo just looked up at Ravi, blinking obliviously.
    “Are you sure that you want to talk like Donald Duck?” Ravi asked.
    Leo frowned.  “Are you saying that I can’t sound like him because of my voice?” Leo asked.
    Ravi shook his head.  “Ani,” he answered.  “It’s just… Donald Duck sounds ridiculously silly.  I just don’t understand why you’d want to talk like him.”
    “In case Heejun-hyung asks me to again,” Leo replied, sighing, “or any other interviewer that hears about what happened.”
    Ravi smiled down at Leo and leaned a bit closer.  Leo’s eyes got wider.  It was hard to notice, but Ravi could instantly tell.  “If you don’t want to do it, I’ll tell them no.  I have your back, hyung.”
    Leo smiled against his will at Ravi’s sincerity.  “You’re always helping me.  Gomawo.”
    “Does this mean that you don’t want to learn how to talk like Donald Duck?” Ravi asked.
    Leo pondered for a bit.  “I doubt I’ll use it if you can keep the interviewers from making me do it.”
    Ravi nodded, understanding.  He leaned even closer to Leo, causing the older to take a deep breath.  “There’s just one thing, hyung.”  Leo blinked questioningly.  “I want to see your duck lips.”
    “Mwo?” Leo asked, surprised.
    “I just…”  Ravi leaned even closer.  Leo could feel the younger’s breath on his chin.  Their noses were nearly touching.  “I want to see them.”
    Leo was beginning to realize what Ravi really wanted, and yet, he didn’t seem to want to pull away.  He was blushing again.
    “Hyung…?”
    “Just do it already,” Leo said.
    Ravi smiled, secretly satisfied that Leo understood what he truly wanted.  Ravi leaned even further until their lips met.
    Ravi was surprised at the softness of Leo’s lips.  They were so smooth.  Ravi molded his lips against the older, getting even closer.  Leo was stunned by how it all felt so… right.  When he felt the rapper’s tongue push at his lips, asking for entrance, he did not hesitate to open his mouth.
    Their tongues rolled and pushed against each other.  They tasted the inside of the other’s mouths and explored new areas.  They were panting and into the kiss, trying to bring the other even closer than what they already were.  Both felt like they needed more, but what they really needed was air, so Leo begrudgingly pulled away from the kiss.
    “Wow,” Ravi mumbled, sitting back, breathing heavily.
    Leo blinked a couple of times and slowly brought up one hand to touch his slightly swollen lips and the other to cover his fast beating heart.  He started to smile.
    “I bet Donald Duck never experienced anything like that,” Ravi joked, and once again Leo was blushing again.  Leo mentally cursed himself.  He needed to stop blushing so much in front of Ravi.
    “Hyungs?!” Hyuk said, barging into the room.  Ken was right behind him, as well as Hongbin, who looked like he was trying to keep the two from entering the room.
    “What’s going on in here?” Ken asked loudly, looking around like he might find treasure.
    Ravi opened his mouth to tell them all to get out, but Leo spoke up before he did.  “Ravi was helping me sound more like Donald Duck,” Leo said firmly.
    Hyuk looked stunned as stood there with his mouth hanging open.  Ken looked like the Cheshire cat, grinning madly.
    “Oh, can you do it now?” Hongbin asked, stepping forward.
    Leo panicked for a second, but quickly recovered.  He shook his head and responded, “Aniyo, not yet, but I should be able to soon… if we keep practicing.”  Leo looked back at Ravi and smirked.  The rapper understood what the main vocalist was hinting at.
    “Ne, hyung needs a lot of practice,” Ravi said, standing up.  “Right now we’re still working on his duck lips.  I think his lips are cute, but we’re going to keep going over it.”
    Leo’s eyes widened at what the younger said.  He could feel himself starting to blush again so he quickly excused himself from the room.
    None of the others seem to catch on to what the rapper was really saying.  Hyuk was just glad to be able to sit in his room again, while Hongbin seemed confused as to why Leo needed to perfect duck lips to sound like the Disney cartoon character.
    “What about my lips, Ravi?” Ken asked, sticking out his lips.  “Are my duck lips cute too?”
    “No!” Leo growled out, when the others neared him.  Ravi chuckled, and Ken pouted before going to look in a mirror and examine his pouty duck lips.
    Leo, Ravi, and Hongbin sat in the living room watching TV.  Leo kept stealing glances at Ravi out of the corner of his eye, and every once in a while he would catch the rapper looking back at him.  He smiled and unconsciously pursed his lips, trying to form duck lips.
Chapter 1: How cute! Nice work. I think the whole Ravi-has-Leo's-back thing is a really, well...realistic? way to write these two together...I feel like that's an important component of their /actual friendship/, and it's nice to see a fic use it to take that a little further into the land of fictional romances. ;)
Best Wishes
