He was walking home from school. He did this often because his mother and father worked a lot. He didn’t mind, though. In fact, he loved walking home alone. It gave him time to think, time to work on his skills as a rapper, and he could listen to music out loud while singing, even though he couldn’t sing worth a . He would arrive home and he would continue listening to music as he did his homework. His mother would arrive home and he would greet her with a hug and she would tell him to turn down the music as she started to make dinner until his father came home for the night. When he did, the boy and his father would watch a little TV together, and then they would eat at the dinner table. All and all they were a happy-go-lucky family with the whole world in front of them.
Until one day, the mother came home to a silent house. She searched it, but she found no trace of her son. It was as if he never even showed up. She panicked and called the police. It was unlike her son to be this late from school. They told her not to worry, that they’ll find him. They seemed to brush her off, like they didn’t believe, but she would not stay still. She became obsessed with finding her son, as any true mother would. She looked for him day and night, but to no avail. Her husband would look too, but he had work, and his life to lead, and eventually, they had to go their separate ways. They divorced, and he remarried, but the mother never gave up hope. She would spend the next few years looking for her baby boy, until one day she dies of age broken heart.
Meanwhile, that day was a normal day for the boy. He got ready for school that morning, and went to school too. The only thing that changed was what happened when he was on his way home. He was walking home the same as he always did. He heard a car behind him, but he was on a road, so he didn’t think much of it. However, this car stopped beside him. There was a normal looking guy driving, and a young looking woman. A boy was in the back seat from what the boy could see. The boy thought nothing about it and kept walking, but then he heard the car doors open and close. He stopped for a second and then someone was grabbing him from behind, and there was something dark blocking his vision. The next thing he knew, he was being thrown into what he thought was the van. Someone decides to knock him out.
When the boy wakes up, he’s in a dark room, but he hears scurrying around and high pitched voices. He realizes that he’s not alone in this room, and he calls out.
“Hey, where are we?” the boy asks.
“We’re home,” someone answered him.
“What do you mean?”
“We’re home now. This is our new family. We must listen to what they say. If we don’t, listen, they’ll kill us. They only take the strongest out of us. Anyone weak gets killed right away.” The boy was shocked.
“H-how long have you been here?”
“Too long. I’m growing weak. You are probably my replacement.” The other sounded resigned, like he had already died long ago. The boy felt sorry for him.
“I’ll protect you.” The boy proclaimed.
“Yeah, that’ll be the day.”
