GIMP: Using XCFs

This tutorial will show you how to use an XCF colouring in Gimp.

Let's get started!

First, open up the picture you want in Gimp. You can get it from your desktop or from a website, whichever picture you want.

Then open up your XCF. Go to File>Open as Layers

Click on the XCF you want to use. Make sure you open a file that has the Gimp symbol and that has .xcf at the end, not .png, .jpg, or .gif

Once you open the XCF colouring, it should appear like this, overlapping your image. Then, you should delete all the layers that are not coloured.

After that, lock all the coloured layers by pressing the square that shows up beside the visiblity symbol (the eye). This way, if you try to move or adjust the coloured layers, they will all move at once instead of having to do it one by one.

Once you've locked the layers, you can start adjusting it to fit the image size. To do this, click the "Scale Tool" button on the left and resize it by dragging it up, down, or diagonally or you can just change the size of the width and length by typing in your image size.

After resizing it, your image should look something like this. You can also adjust the opacity or delete some layers until you're satisfied with the result. Then just save your image as a .png file and you're done!

This is how mine turned out.

See the difference?

PHOTOSHOP: Using PSDs

This tutorial will show you how to use a PSD in Photoshop

PSD (Download link in Chapter 3)

Let's start the tutorial!

First, open up the picture you want to use in Photoshop from your desktop.

Then, open up your PSD. Go to File>Open

Click on the PSD you want to use. It should have the Photoshop symbol or it may say .psd. Do not click on any file that doesn't have the photoshop symbol for PSDs or a file that says .png or .jpg

Once you open up the PSD, it's in another tab and not on the image you want it to be on. I'm not sure but I don't think there is an option for "Open as Layers" in Photoshop so this is my way.

Drag the tab out anywhere so you have 2 windows of Photoshop open

After you've done that, it should look something like this

You should be on the PSD file now and there are normally 2 layers in the file; the example picture and the colouring which should be in a group such as the one circled in the picture. Drag the group of the PSD onto the picture you are using or in this case, the ulzzang picture

You can now close the PSD file and save your picture as a .png file and you're done!

The finished result!
