Honestly, Luhan was glad he was back to Korea. Back with his little apartment. He had had to go and spend two years in Beijing to work, but now it was over, and he was back. Which meant he would have fun again. Well, for example, he would be able to spend time with his friends. Like Kyungsoo and Jongin. Who had quietly got married a few months before Luhan was off to China.

Smiling as he thought about the way they had told him that – it seemed to have happened so long ago! – , he grabbed his mobile phone and dialled their number. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and even if Luhan had always loved his friends, he wanted even more to see them again after all this time.

“Kyungsoo-yah? It’s Luhan,” he said when he heard Kyungsoo’s joyful ‘Hello?’.

“Luhan? Is it really you? How are you? It’s been so long!”

“I’m fine, thank you! I came back from China a couple of days ago. How are you and Jongin? Still living the perfect and happy love life?”

There was no sarcasm at all in Luhan’s voice, and Kyungsoo replied joyfully, “Yeah, really perfect. Wait, I’m putting the speaker on so that Jongin will hear you too.”

“Luhan-hyung?” Jongin exclaimed. “You’re back at last? That’s so great! How are you?”

“Fine,” Luhan repeated, smiling at his friend’s enthusiasm. “Hey, I was wondering whether you still wanted to see me… We could have dinner together this week, what do you think? Unless you don’t want to,” he giggled.

“Of course we do!” Kyungsoo replied. “Saturday night, is it okay for you? You could come at our place, I’ll make kimchi spaghetti,” he offered. Luhan grinned just thinking about his friend’s delicious recipe.

“Perfect! I can’t wait!” he replied.

“We’ll have a little surprise…” Jongin said mysteriously. Luhan laughed.

“Wow, what is it?” he said automatically.

“It’s a surprise, didn’t you hear?” his friend retorted. Luhan whined. “You will see when you come,” Jongin added.

“See you then, hyung!” Kyungsoo said.

Luhan said goodbye and hung up.

While he went to his friends’ house, Luhan kept wondering what the mysterious ‘surprise’ would be. Kyungsoo and Jongin had seemed really enthusiastic about it. And it could be something really big. Anything could have happened in two years.

“Hi!” Luhan said when Jongin opened the door. They literally jumped into each other’s arms and shared a tight hug.

“You dyed your hair, hyung? That’s good. Blonde really suits you,” Jongin said after looking at him and at his honey-coloured locks. Luhan thanked him, really happy. He had used to have brown hair, but he liked changes, and anyway he could have dyed it again if it hadn’t looked good.

“Here, I brought you a few things from China. I know you love that… (He handed Jongin a bottle in a long box and they exchanged a mischievous smile.) And Kyungsoo told me he wanted these spices for his kitchen so I bought some too,” Luhan said, giving his friend the presents. “Where is he?” he asked.

“Thanks a lot, you’re awesome,” Jongin thanked him happily. “Kyungsoo’s coming in a minute,” he added, visibly very excited. Luhan smiled.

“Hello, hyung,” Kyungsoo said with his usual softness when he entered the hall. Luhan turned around to say hello, but he froze in surprise. His eyes widened. Kyungsoo was all smiles, and – holding a child’s hand.

                There was a child.

A cute child, actually. He must be five or six years old. He was thin, brown-haired and had a cute little nose. He was looking straight at Luhan, but if the way he was gripping Kyungsoo’s hand was anything to go by, he was a little scared. Luhan looked at Kyungsoo, astonished. They couldn’t have…

“Here’s Sehun, our child,” Kyungsoo said with infinite happiness in his voice.

                They had.

“You – you – have a child?” Luhan asked stupidly.

“We do!” Jongin said, walking to Sehun and ruffling his hair. Kyungsoo wrapped his arms around the child’s little body to lift him up from the ground and carry him. “We adopted him last year. He will turn five in a month.”

“Say hello to Luhan-hyung, Sehun-ah,” Kyungsoo said softly, smiling at the little boy. Sehun looked at Luhan with wide eyes for a second – then he buried his head in Kyungsoo’s shoulder like a scared animal. Jongin laughed.

“He’s a little shy,” he said. Luhan shook his head. He had always loved children, and Sehun seemed really nice – even if he was clinging to Kyungsoo’s neck so tight it looked like he wanted to strangle him.

“It’s okay, he’s adorable. Congratulations, by the way!” he added. Kyungsoo and Jongin smiled together, and Luhan couldn’t help but admire the obvious happiness painted all over their faces.

That was a wonderful surprise indeed.

“Come on now, say goodbye to Luhan-hyung,” Jongin told Sehun. He squeezed the little boy’s hand. “Say goodbye, Sehun,” he said. Sehun glanced at Luhan shyly and his cheeks turned a bright shade of red.

“Goodbye,” he muttered, looking down at his Pokémon socks. Luhan smiled.

                “Goodbye who?” Kyungsoo teased.

                “Goodbye Luhan.”

“Goodbye, Sehun-ah,” Luhan said gently. He bent down, and placed a soft kiss on the child’s forehead. Sehun ran and hid behind Kyungsoo’s legs, his tiny hands grabbing the fabric and gripping it tightly. The three adults laughed heartedly. “Well, see you soon,” Luhan went on, this time talking to Jongin and Kyungsoo.

“It was great to see you again, hyung,” Jongin replied; Kyungsoo nodded.

“Same for me,” Luhan grinned. “And I was glad to meet Sehun. You’re really lucky, he’s so cute,” he said, looking at the little boy who was now tugging his father’s sleeve, surely to tell him something.

“Goodbye,” Kyungsoo and Jongin said. Luhan waved at them and stepped out of their house into the night.

The next time Luhan saw his friends was about a week later, when he invited them to lunch. Actually, even if he hadn’t seen him a lot yet, he was looking forward to seeing Sehun again to get to know him better. Such a cute child.

“Hi, Sehun,” he said as the little boy entered the apartment with his parents. Sehun tightened his grip on his rabbit cuddly toy, and looked up at him very seriously.

“I’m happy to see you, Luhan,” he said slowly. Luhan couldn’t help but smile at his cuteness. He hadn’t noticed it the first time as Sehun hadn’t talked a lot that day, but he had a lisp. A slight lisp, but still a lisp.

“I’m happy too,” Luhan replied softly. “How are you?” he asked Jongin and Kyungsoo.

                “Great,” the two boys answered.

“You know,” Jongin went on lower, “Sehun talked a lot about you after you left. He said you were very nice and he told us that he wanted to show you Peco – that’s his rabbit,” he said. Luhan grinned.

                “Oh, he’s adorable,” he said.

“Usually, he doesn’t particularly enjoys meeting new people but he seems to like you very much,” Kyungsoo smiled.

“I should be proud, then!” Luhan exclaimed. He beckoned his friends to sit down at the table to have lunch and headed towards the kitchen (or rather made a step to the side to enter the kitchen as his apartment was a little small), before turning around. “What does Sehun likes to eat? I mean, is he okay with anything?”

“Yes, he is,” Jongin answered. “Kyungsoo made sure he would eat a little of everything.”

“That’s good,” Luhan said. When he came back from the kitchen, holding what he had cooked, Sehun started to fidget on his chair as if he had something very, very important to say. Luhan smiled at him encouragingly, and the little boy raised his rabbit timidly.

“Look Luhan, Jongin-appa and Kyungsoo-appa bought Peco for me,” he said with a big grin. Luhan laughed and the rabbit’s ears. Sehun seemed very proud, and his parents smiled at him.

“Hello Peco,” Luhan replied. Sehun had a cute high-pitched laugh. They ate lunch while talking joyfully, and soon he jumped off his chair to explore the apartment. Kyungsoo tried to call him and tell him to stay where he was, but Luhan shrugged it off. “It’s okay,” he said. “Let him go around, he does nothing bad.”

Kyungsoo smiled. “Sometimes he trips over his own feet,” he laughed, imitated by Jongin. They exchanged a glance, and Luhan felt something strange in his heart, that felt like a mixed feeling, like happiness with a touch of envy. They seemed to be loving each other so much…

“Luhan,” Sehun tugged his sleeve. Caught in his thoughts, Luhan hadn’t noticed him coming back. “Luhan,” the little boy repeated. Luhan started and turned towards him with a smile.

“Sorry,” he apologised. “Do you need something, Sehun-ah?”

Sehun looked at his parents for a second, then at Luhan, then at his parents, then at Luhan again. His cheeks were pink and he seemed a little embarrassed. “Can you play with me, Luhan?” he asked with a hopeful beam, before blushing cutely. Luhan laughed. But Jongin threw Sehun a reproachful look.

“Come on, Sehun-ah… It isn’t very polite to ask this, is it? We’re having lunch now,” he said, gently but firmly. “And maybe Luhan doesn’t really want to play, hmm?” he added with a little smile. Though, Luhan shook his head and he ruffled Sehun’s hair.

“It’s okay,” he replied. He looked at Kyungsoo and Jongin. “Really. I’ll play with him later if he wants to.”

“Don’t be too kind to him or he will make you do whatever he wants,” Kyungsoo joked. Luhan and Jongin laughed, but it was true. Sehun was so cute it was impossible to resist.

After eating the dessert, Luhan offered his friends coffee. Sehun observed them silently; he was sitting on the wooden floor while playing with his rabbit’s ears. Whenever Luhan looked at him, he would look down shyly and hold the little stuffed animal even tighter. It was funny – he seemed to be waiting for a single thing: Luhan.

When he saw that Sehun couldn’t contain himself anymore and was starting to fidget and look at them with imploring eyes, the blonde boy got up and walked to him after exchanging a smile with Kyungsoo and Jongin. “So, do you still want to play?” he asked. Sehun’s face brightened.

“Yes!” he exclaimed joyfully. He trotted to the hall, where he had left his backpack (it was blue with Pokémons on it) and brought it back to show it to Luhan. “Do you want to choose Munchlax? I am choosing Pikachu,” he said very seriously. Luhan nodded.

“Okay, I’ll choose Munchlax,” he agreed, taking the figurine Sehun was giving him. He quickly glanced at Kyungsoo and Jongin, who were looking at them, amused. “And what do you want to – ” he began, but Sehun cut him.

“Pikachu, I choose you!” he cried with his sharp little voice, causing Luhan to start. “Come on, you have to pick your Pokemon,” he whispered to Luhan, as if he was giving him advice because he didn’t know what to do in a Pokemon fight. Luhan cleared his throat.

“Munchlax – I choose you!” he said.

                And the fight began.

Of course, even if Luhan had used to like Pokemon, he had forgot most of the things he knew about it, notably how to fight efficiently. But let’s say he let Sehun win.

When the fight was over, Sehun comforted him. “It’s okay, maybe you will win next time,” he said gravely, nodding. Luhan smiled softly. But then the little boy whined for several seconds,  heavily. Kyungsoo got up and wrapped his arms around him.

“Looks like our little boy is tired, huh?” he said mischievously.

“I’m not…” Sehun replied weakly before resting his head against his father’s shoulder and closing his eyes – which immediately proved him wrong. Jongin smiled  and came fondle his back. After kissing their little son, he placed a soft kiss on Kyungsoo’s lips. The petite man laughed softly before turning to Luhan.

“He likes you,” he said with a smile, nodding towards little Sehun, who was now his thumb. Luhan giggled and got up after putting the Pokemon figurines back into Sehun’s bag.

“I like him too, he’s really cute,” he replied. Then he gazed at his two friends, who were standing very close to each other with their son in the middle. He couldn’t help it, he couldn’t help it… He couldn’t help it but it made him sad. His friends married with a child and living the happiest life that could be looked like a picture in a frame. Too perfect.

Though he smiled. “Do you want to lay him on my bed?” he offered. Kyungsoo shook his head.

“No, thank you hyung. We’re not going to bother you any longer,” he replied kindly. Jongin smiled and took Sehun from him, then he came to Luhan while his husband gathered all Sehun’s things.

“I think Sehun was really happy to have played with you. So thank you, Luhan-hyung,” he said, cradling the little boy. Luhan smiled.

“It’s nothing, I had fun,” he replied. “Thanks for coming.”

Kyungsoo came back to them, and Jongin and him said goodbye, quietly, to avoid waking Sehun up – the little boy had fallen asleep in his father’s arms. When they left, Luhan did the dishes peacefully, smiling as he thought about his friends’ child, his bright smile and his cute lisp.

“Luhan!!” Sehun squeaked, hugging the blonde boy – or rather hugging his legs as he was slightly too small. Luhan almost lost his balance but he laughed heartedly. It had now been three months since he’d seen Sehun for the first time. Hi there, little boy.

“Sometimes, I have the feeling he loves you more than he loves us,” Jongin said with a mischievous smirk, leaning against the wall. Luhan froze and his eyes widened. No…Jongin couldn’t mean that… “Hey, relax, it’s a joke!” Jongin laughed. Luhan breathed in, relieved.

“Hello, hyung,” Kyungsoo smiled as he came in. “There’s no need to say Sehun was eager to see you…” he said, his son’s hair. The little boy blushed and he grabbed Kyungsoo’s fingers to play with them – and hide behind them.

As they were drinking tea and eating Kyungsoo’s delicious cake, Sehun tugged Luhan’s sleeve. “Look at my new car,” he said proudly, showing a bright yellow vehicle. “Isn’t it super great?”

“It is,” Luhan replied, looking at the car.

“Appa bought it for me,” Sehun said with a big grin, turning towards his parents. Luhan didn’t know who he was talking about – Kyungsoo or Jongin, but maybe it was both, so he said nothing and giggled. Suddenly, the little boy looked at him, and whispered in his ear, “Can I tell you a secret, Luhan?”

“It’s rude to do that, Sehun-ah,” Kyungsoo said, though a playful smile was crossing his lips. Sehun pouted but he went on anyway.

“Yesterday when I went into the bathroom to – to go to the toilets, I saw Kyungsoo-appa and Jongin-appa and they were kissing! They were kissing, Luhan! Baaaaah!” he said with  a falsely disgusted expression. He pretended to be choking and to cough. Luhan couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Of course, Sehun’s whispering skills were still a bit rusty, and Kyungsoo and Jongin had heard everything. They looked embarrassed, but when Luhan started laughing, they chuckled. “It’s bad to spy on your parents, Sehun-ah,” Jongin said, pointing a reproachful finger at him. Sehun stuck out his tongue cutely.

                “But you were still kissing.”

“Yes, our life changed a lot since we adopted Sehun, it’s true,” Jongin said with a small laugh. “We don’t go out very often anymore, sometimes he wakes us up in the middle of the night when he has a nightmare, and well… Kyungsoo and I don’t really… (He did a little gesture with his fingers and Luhan understood; he laughed.)

“It’s hard for you to go without that, I know,” Kyungsoo said slyly, teasing his husband. Jongin crossed his arms, the I-don’t-know-what-you-are-talking-about style. Luhan giggled at them. And then, Sehun went back after having been away to play for a while. He sat down on the sofa next to Luhan and looked at him.

“You are pretty, Luhan,” he said all of a sudden, surprising his parents and the blonde boy. Luhan raised his eyebrows and cleared his throat, embarrassed. He glanced at Jongin and Kyungsoo, who smiled, looking amused.

“Em…thank you,” he replied slowly with a smile. “You are cute too,” he added to Sehun. The little boy beamed and bounced up and down on the sofa.

“Will you marry me one day, Luhan?” he asked. “Will you marry me?”

Luhan froze. He stared at the little boy, who was looking at him with great expectation. There had been so much hope in his voice that he could only have been serious. Luhan didn’t know what to do. Laugh? He might hurt Sehun’s little feelings. Say yes? No way! Sehun would believe it and start hoping for something that would never happen.

“I…” Luhan began. He found himself blushing awkwardly, and turned towards his friends for support. Kyungsoo cleared his throat and broke the silence.

“Sehun-ah…” he said slowly. Jongin looked hesitant, as if he wanted to say something, but he was remaining silent. Luhan smiled at Sehun softly.

“I can’t marry you, Sehun-ah…” he said as gently as he could. Sehun’s eyebrows raised and curved in a sad expression.

                “Why?” he asked, devastated.

“Because… I’m not the right person for you,” Luhan answered.

“But Kyungsoo-appa and Jongin-appa married! So why can’t we?” Sehun exclaimed.

Luhan replied, “I’m an adult, I can’t marry a little boy like you, it would be illegal.”

“But I love you!” Sehun whined. And he burst into tears. Kyungsoo got up and wrapped his arms around him, but the small boy pushed him away with an impressive strength, and ran out of the living-room.

Luhan got up and so did Jongin. “I’m so sorry…” he apologised. But Jongin smiled, albeit a little sadly.

“It’s okay, he’s just a bit upset. I’ll go and talk to him, don’t worry.”

Luhan shook his head. “No, I’ll go,” he replied. And he went after Sehun, watched by Kyungsoo and Jongin. Maybe it was better if he talked to Sehun by himself. The little boy had run to his bedroom, and he was lying on his bed, holding his rabbit cuddly toy. Luhan knocked the door before stepping in. “I’m sorry, Sehun-ah,” he said softly.

“You don’t love me,” Sehun sobbed pathetically, sniffling. Luhan grabbed a tissue in the Toy Story box that was on the bedside table and handed it to him. “I don’t want to blow my nose,” Sehun muttered. But Luhan still gave the tissue to him.

“You know, I really cannot marry you,” Luhan said. “But it doesn’t mean that I don’t love you,” he whispered, the little boy’s hair. Sehun shook his head frantically.

“You don’t love me like Jongin-appa loves Kyungsoo-appa,” he said, his eyes watering again. Luhan fondled his shoulder and gave him an encouraging pat.

“Someday you will find someone that you will love and you’ll marry them. But it can’t be me, I’m too old! I’m like a grandpa!” Luhan laughed to cheer the little boy up.

“You’re not a grandpa…” Sehun said, smiling in spite of himself. Luhan grinned.

“Thank you, you make me feel much younger,” he said, faking an old person’s voice. Sehun burst out laughing in his usual high-pitched tone.

“How about we go back to see your parents, huh? They must be worried,” Luhan said. Sehun nodded and sniffled one last time before getting up. They went back into the living-room, and Jongin hugged his son.

“Feeling better, Sehun-ah?” he said. Sehun chuckled happily.

“Want to go to the park?” Kyungsoo offered. “I heard there was a new ice-cream store nearby,” he said. Both Sehun and Jongin opened their eyes wide when they heard the word ‘ice-cream’.

“Yeah!” Sehun exclaimed, throwing his fist in the air.

                Luhan smiled.

And they went out into the city to enjoy the afternoon together.

A/N: Ugh, the ending is so...random. I'm sorry.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed child!Sehun :'D (Someone suggested me the idea of HunHan parenting, a while ago, and it sounded really great though I wanted Sehun as a child so well x) )

I tried to make this cute but it ended up with him crying. Maybe I did it wrong.

Well, thanks a lot for reading ♥
