From the First Day to the Last

Why Did I Fall In Love With You
Jaehyo walked into his photography class.   It was an elective class that he really didn't need but it was always something he was interested in.  It was the first day of class and the classroom was noisy from students introducing themselves.  He took a seat in the back of the room and waited for the class to begin.  The teacher entered the room and began his lecture on lighting.  Five minutes into the lecture, the teacher was interrupted by a late student barging into class.  The student was heaving, trying his best to regain control of his breathing.  When he was finally able to talk, he apologized to the teacher.
"I'm sorry for being late," he said. "I just transferred to this school and I got lost looking for this class."
"It's alright young man.  Just don't let it happen again," the teacher reprimanded.
Jaehyo had never seem a student like this guy before.  The guy had long brown dreadlocks that he had tied back away from his face.  He wore his uniform a size too big so that it could hang loosely on his body.  The student gave a rebellious aura.  Jaehyo couldn't help but stare.  He felt so plain compared to the other.
The other boy took the only empty seat left in the class, right next to Jaehyo.  He gave a warm smile to Jaehyo before flopping down into the chair.  Jaehyo turned his focus back to the teacher, who was continuing with his lecture.
The first day of class was boring but went by quickly.  Jaehyo packed his things and was ready to leave when a body stood in front of his seat.  He looked up to see the the unique boy with the dreads.
"Hi, I'm Jiho."  The boy introduced himself.
"I'm Jaehyo." he replied, standing up.
"I'm 16 years old.  How old are you?"  Jiho asked.
Jaehyo was in a hurry to leave the class.  "I'm 18," he quickly responded.
Jiho followed the tall boy out of the classroom.  "Oh, I'll call you hyung then...  Jaehyo hyung, can you help me find my next class.  Someone showed me around earlier but I don't remember..."  Jaehyo had abruptly stopped walking and Jiho walked right into his back.
"Sorry, hyung.  I..." Jiho apologized but Jaehyo had interrupted him.
"What class do you have now?"  the older questioned.
Jiho handed Jaehyo his schedule and the latter glanced over the paper.
"You're next class is near mine, so I can take you there.  Afterwards, I'll wait for you and point you to the class after that one."  Jaehyo explained.
The younger of the two merly nodded in understand and followed the other.
This was how their friendship began.  Jaehyo was quiet and awkward, but smart.  Jiho was loud, wild, and extemely creative.  They were complete opposites but still managed to grow their friendship.  What one lacked, the other had.  They completed each other.

Jaehyo was graduating from high school.  The ceremony was over and he was taking photos with family outside of the school.  He felt disappointed that he hadn't seem the his best friend there.
"Hyung," a familiar voice called out.
Jaehyo turned around to see Jiho running towards him.  Jaehyo didn't recognized the other boy immediately.  Jiho had cut his hair and was now sporting a new short fringe haircut.  The said boy hugged Jaehyo.
"Congratulation, Jaehyo hyung."  Jiho said brightly.
"Jiho,  what happen to your hair?" the older asked.
Jiho frowned.  He ran his fingers through his hair.  "My dreads were damaging my scalp so I had to cut it before it got worse.  That's why I'm so late."
"Well it's about time you cut those things.  You're new hair makes you look so much more handsome."  Jaehyo's mother interjected.  She cupped Jiho's face in her hands as spoke then proceeded to pinch Jiho's cheeks.
Jaehyo couldn't help but smile at his mother's action.  He patted Jiho's head.  "It does suit you.  You look good."
"Thanks, hyung.  But hyung its going to be so different without you here next year.  What am I going to do?"  The younger whined.
Jaehyo laughed, "It's not like you don't have other friends.  I'm sure you'll be fine."
Jiho pulled the elder to a back breaking hug.  "... but I'm going to miss you hyung.  I already miss you now."
The older slightly blushed from the sudden attack. "I'll miss you too."  He whispered.

Jiho followed Jaehyo to college.  He was even able to request  to have the older man be his roommate in the dorms.  They didn't have much time to see each other when they had classes but they always hung out at the end of the day.    Jaehyo was already back in their room studying when Jiho burst into the room.
"Hyung, lets go to the club tonight.  It's friday night.  We need to be having fun."  Jiho belly flopped onto Jaehyo's bed, making himself comfortable.
Jaehyo turned his chair to face the younger.  He ignored Jiho's question.  "Can't you lay down on your own bed?"
"Hyuu~ung" Jiho whined.  "Plllleeeeaaaasssssee...buing buing" The young pleaded in a small voice.
It didn't show on Jaehyo's face but mentally he was smiling.  "Are you seriously trying to use aegyo on me?"  He asked with a raised eyebrow.  Jaehyo couldn't say 'no' to the younger but he didn't want to make it seem too easy either.
After ten more minutes of Jiho's aegyo fill begging, Jaehyo finally conceeded.  They both got changed, dressing to impress.
"What do you think, Jaehyo hyung?  Do I look ok?"  The younger questioned.
Jaehyo swallowed hard and his heart was racing.  He maintained a poker face but inside he was fawning over how good Jiho was looking.  "You look good... But just not as good as me," he teasingly replied, while brushing his shoulders off.  It earned him a punch in the arm but they shared a good laugh.
The club was too noisy and crowded for Jaehyo's taste.  He planted himself at the bar, slow babysitting a drink.  Every once in a while he would turn to the dance floor and watch everyone else.  He could easily spot Jiho dancing in the center of the crowd.  The other had recently dyed his hair bleach blonde.   The tall man sighed.  He wish he could dance with the younger but he was a terrible dancer and anytime he tried, it always looked awkward.  Jaehyo soon frowned as he watch Jiho partnering up with a beautiful girl with wavy hair.  The two danced close together, eliminating any space between them.  The older man couldn't stand to watch anymore.  He turned around to face the bar and continued to nurse his drink.
"You ok, hyung?"  A friend joined him at the bar.
"Hey Kyung.  I'm fine... Clubs just aren't my thing."  He replied.  He finished his drink and motioned to the bartender for another.
"Isn't it hard?"  The shorter man inquired.
Jaehyo gave his friend a puzzled look.  He took a sip from his drink.
"To want something you can't have."  Kyung clarified while still being illusive.
Jaehyo nearly choked on his drink.  He cleared his troat before asking, "W-what?  What are you talking about Kyung?"
The shorter male patted his hyung on the back.  "Jiho might be an oblivious idiot, but I'm not."
Jaehyo round eyes doubled in size.  Had he been that obvious about his feelings?  He thought he hide it well.
"Actually, hyung, I really wasn't sure about your feelings, but your reaction right now tells me I'm right."  Kyung informed.
Jaehyo's expression darkened.  He had been found out.  The tall man hung his head low, wanting to avoid eye contact with his clever friend.
"Don't worry I won't judge you or say anything... It's really not my place.  If Jiho finds out, it'll be from you."  Kyung reassured the older.
Jaehyo raised his head to face Kyung.  He gave his friend a weak smile as a scilent 'thank you'.
The two turned to the dance floor and quietly watched their fellow clubbers dancing away.  Jiho was still dancing with the same pretty girl, whispering in her ear.  The girl wasn't the first and wasn't going to be last of many relationships Jiho would have, but as always Jaehyo would endured through it.

The two men graduated from college and were now persuing their own individual career.  Like in college Jiho moved in with Jaehyo after graduating.  Jaehyo had not planned to have the younger move in with him, but when Jiho came to him with idea, again he was too weak to say 'no'.
Jaehyo had fallen asleep doing his work in bed.
"HYUNG!"  Jiho jumped on the bed startling the sleeping man.
The older man rubbed his eyes.  "Jiho, leave me alone.  I'm too tired."
Jiho grabbed the elder by the shoulders, forcing the other to pay attention to him. "Jaehyo hyung, I have something important to tell you... I did it... I asked EunMi to marry me."
Jaehyo couldn't respond.  He blinked a few time, trying to absorb the news he had just been given.  His heart had shattered and he found it hard to beathe.  Jiho shook the taller man, thinking that the latter was still not fully conscious to understand him.  "Hyung, wake up will you.  I just told you I'm getting married."
"Con-congratulation Jiho-ah.  You did good.  EunMi is a great girl."  The elder manage to say.
Jiho rolled to the other side of the bed and streached himself out.  The younger folded his arms behind his head and closed his eyes.  "Jaehyo hyung you need to find someone too and settle down.  You can't stay single forever."
Jaehyo simply hummed a response.  He watch the younger's face.  Jiho looked so happy and peaceful.  If the younger had opened his eyes, he would have seen a tear run down Jaehyo sullen face.

The wedding was perfect.  The ceremony was complete and everyone was enjoying their meal.  Jiho was walking around looking for a particular person.  He finally spotted the familiar tall silouette through the large glass windows.  Jaehyo was outside in the balcony talking to Kyung.  The two were looking out at the Seoul skyline as the sun began to set on the city.
"What are you thinking about hyung?" Kyung asked.
Jaehyo let out a deep sigh.  "I was thinking about the last ten years...  I'm such a fool."  He let out a cynical laugh.
Kyung cringed listening to his friend.  He could hear the saddness and bitterness in each word the older uttered.
"Ten years is a long time be in a one sided love.  I can't do it anymore, Kyung.  I'm just too tired."  Jaehyo looked up to the sky, trying to hold back his tears.
"What are you going to do?"  Kyung didn't want to ask the question because he knew whatever the answer, it wouldn't good.
"I can't stay here.  I requested a transfer shortly after Jiho told me he was getting married.  I'm moving to Singapore."  The taller informed.
"Singapore?  When?!"  The younger was taken a back by the sudden notice.
Jaehyo looked down at his watch.  "In about three hours.  I already have my things packed.  Jiho had been so busy with the wedding to even notice."  He choked on his own words saying the last part.
Kyung wrapped his arm around Jaehyo's should in comfort.
"I still love him.  After all these years of suppressing my feelings, I can't help but still love him."  Jaehyo couldn't hold back his tear anymore.  All the emotions he had been hold back was now flowing out of him.
Kyung only spoke again when the older man finally calmed himself.  "Are you going to say good-bye?"
"This is my good-bye."  Jaehyo replied.
Outside the balcony door Jiho had heard the whole conversation.  He felt stupid for never recognizing his best friends heart.  He wondered how many time, Jaehyo must have felt hurt because of him.
Jaehyo was ready to leave and made his way to the exit.
"Jaehyo hyung..."  a voice called out.
Jaehyo recognized the voice right away and slowly turned around.  He made sure to place a smile on his face.
"Where you going, hyung?"  Jiho asked.
"I must be getting old.  I'm already tired."  the older man joked. "I'm gonna go."
Jiho pulled the other into a hug.  Jaehyo laughed nervously but hugged him back.  When they withdrew from each other, Jiho pull the older towards the photographer.  "Before you go, lets take a picture together."
The photographer took a picture of the two handsome men.  No matter how they were feeling inside, they didn't show it and smiled brightly for the camera.
"When you get that picture, you better give me a copy of it."  Jaehyo playfully threatened.  "I'll see you later Jiho-ah."  he said walking away.
Jiho smiled back and waved good-bye.  You're a liar, hyung.  Tears welled up in Jiho's eyes.  He knew he had just lost his best friend.

Jaehyo was in his seat waiting for the plane to finish boarding.  He closed his eyes, trying to relax and let go of everything.
"Excuse me," Someone spoke.
Jaehyo opened his eyes to see a dark haired man standing by him.
"That's my seat over there."  The man pointed to the inside seat next to Jaehyo's.
The taller man stood up to allow the other passenger more room to get to his seat.
"Thanks... I'm Minhyuk, Lee Minhyuk."  other passenger greeted holding his hand out.
Jaehyo took the outstreached hand and shoke it.  "I'm Ahn Jaehyo."
Minhyuk decided to start a conversation.  "So Ahn Jaehyo, why are you going to Singapore?"
Jaehyo took his time to respond.  "I-I just needed to get away."
Minhyuk peered into other's dark round eyes and nodded in understand.  "Me, too."

A/N:  K. Will & DBSK's songs along with my love for Block B inspired me to write this story.  It's slightly different from the way I normally do my stories.  This is my first real angst.  I don't know if I really was able to portray the character's emotions.  Jaehyo was suppose to be someone who was good at hiding his emotions even though it was torturing him inside.  Jiho was suppose to be oblivious idiot who never really knew his friend as well as he thought.    Kyung was a mutual friend of the two and the only person who knew about Jaehyo's uality.  Minhyuk is anything you want him to be.  He could be a new friend, a possible future lover, or nothing at all.  I left it open to allow readers to make the choice.

Part of me wanted to make this a full story but I already have so many other's I need to finish.  My brain couldn't handle another full story.  I'm already fall behind with the ones I have.

I hope whoever reads this enjoy's it.  Leave a comment and tell me what you think.  Thanks

The following pictures/images below aren't mine but I hope you enjoy them.

Chapter 1: This story was relaly well written, and really well developed. I loved your wording, and I'm sincerely hoping you would do a sequel? (Even though it doesn't need it, since you already insinuated that Jaehyo would find his happiness....but I would love to see him and Jiho rekindle their friendship and be able to keep it)

Chapter 1: I don't know why but I just absolutely have a thing for angsty!Jaehyo, so this was just right up my alley. I think you did a great job with this. But check out the formatting because all of the paragraphs ended up bunched together instead of being spaced apart (or is it just my phone? idk).

I know you've apparently got a lot of stories running (as do I, because my brain is forever coming up with new plots vs. finishing the ones I already have... ahh!! stress!!) but if you want to do another companion one-shot about Minhyuk's circumstances for needing to escape to Singapore... well, it'd be kind of awesome. Hint hint. ^^ But I like the ambiguous ending as is. All in all, fabulous!
