Thump. Thump.

Humerus. Ulna. Radius.

A soft throbbing on his chest, and you realise that a tall, lanky boy with soft, dark hair and an intense gaze hiding beneath closed lids has his arms wrapped around your waist.

Manubrium. Sternum.

Your own heart rate slows down along with his dreaming state, a slight smile raising the curves of his sharp cheeks. Russet eyelids flutter open in time to your own smile reaching the peaks of a brightening sky.

“You’re awake.”

There is no sound, but you hear him breathe as his mouth forms words for your eyes to read.

Intercostal. Interchondral.

His voice cracks as it mutely searches for a whisper to relate. The sun is up, too; but none of you care.

Carpals. Metacarpals. Phalanges.

Your fingertips find his slim, long digits; and the link he’s been looking for since sneaking in is forged, in an instant.

The world begins to stir and murmur.

Malleus. Incus. Stapes.

“So are you.”

Acromion. Acromioclavicular.

His heartbeat quickens along with yours, and your shoulder leaves his chest to better move closer.

Thump.

Axial. Appendicular.

Somehow, no amount of stripping all of him to his bare bones can take away the softness of his lips as they land on yours.

Bone locations, by line: arms, chest, top part of ribs, hands and fingers, ears, shoulder blades, two major divisions of the human skeletal structure.
