I would be a fool to say no.

Yena couldn’t help but puff out air in annoyance as she realizes that she’s once again bombarded with schedules after schedules. It wasn’t like she didn’t enjoy her job, in fact she loves her job, but during this situation she couldn’t afford to miss it as she had reserved a table at this one restaurant she wanted to bring Chaewon to. There was absolutely no way she would miss this as it would be a hassle to reschedule it because who knows what if the next time Chaewon would be the one that’s busy once more with promotions. With this, Yena swore to finish her schedules as soon as possible before the said time that she was going to meet up with Chaewon.

Luck seemed to be on Yena’s side as she had plenty of time to spare before she would go to meet up with Chaewon. She rushes back home to decide what to wear as she realizes that she hadn’t planned what outfit she was going to show up in. Should she be formal? Semi-formal? Casual? Yena doesn’t seem to understand as to why she was too conscious as to what she should wear when she’s comfortable with Chaewon to a point where the younger wouldn’t even care if she had showed up wearing a garbage bag, okay well maybe Chaewon would tease the hell out of her if she did show up wearing that but the point still stands. Previously having to be in the same group and were even roommates had led to their bond to grow even stronger. Yena couldn’t help but feel proud with how much Chaewon had grown. Despite seeing the younger girl’s growth she still can see the Chaewon who often relied on her, the Chaewon who would cry on her arms whenever things were heavy for them. Although Chaewon would act stubbornly, they both know by the end of the day that Yena was right about Chaewon relying on her.

After what felt like an hour of deciding what to wear, Yena finally plans out an outfit as she makes her way to her bathroom to take a quick shower. Surely she couldn’t just change to the clothes she had picked out especially after all her schedules today. While making her way to the bathroom with her phone in her hand, she receives a message from Chaewon.

ssamu: unnie! I might be a bit late since we had a sudden meeting

alright wonnieee

ssamu: we’re still going out tonight right??

Ofc ofc ^^

ssamu: are you sureee? maybe i might make you wait long :((

Hey dont worry abt me waiting its fine really

ssamu: alrightt if you say so

Its fine really okayyy?

ssamu: yeah okayy

Good :D

Anyways im gonna go prepare see you later?

ssamu: yeah see you later unnie!

After Yena reacts Chaewon’s last message with a heart, she opens her music app before deciding what songs to play while she showers. As soon as the song starts echoing around the bathroom walls, Yena hums along as she starts showering, excited to finally see Chaewon again.

Yena nervously taps on the table as she waits for Chaewon to arrive. Yena admits that perhaps she had gotten too excited that she got here earlier than expected but it was better than being late right? One thing that Yena was glad about was the fact that the table she had reserved had the perfect view of the cityscape and it was secluded which would indicate that they both could dine without a worry if a fan of either of them would spot them. Yena absolutely adores seeing her fans, but in this situation she wanted only Chaewon’s attention.

As if on cue, she hears heels clicking as she notices from her peripheral that someone was in front of dragging the chair in front of her. Looking up, she forgets how to breathe as she allows her gaze to linger longer at Chaewon. Chaewon was breathtaking literally. With Chaewon’s hair still short, half of her hair had been tied in a ponytail while the remnants of her hair rested on top of her shoulders. The dress Chaewon was wearing made Yena feel as though she was underdressed as the girl in front of her was glowing. Yena hadn’t realized that she was downright staring at Chaewon who could slowly feel herself shrink as no words had left Yena’s lips, Chaewon opens to say something but Yena beats her to it. “You look really pretty, Chaewonie.” She mumbles out and this makes Chaewon feel embarrassed and soon enough Yena realizes what she had said. “I mean! Technically you are pretty but like I don’t- I mean I do mean it! It’s just that I-” Yena stammering was entertaining to Chaewon as she starts laughing at Yena’s reaction. “Alright, I get what you’re trying to say unnie.” She teases as she sits in front of Yena. “I hope you didn’t wait long.” Chaewon pouts as she checks the time from her phone. Yena shakes her head, dismissing Chaewon’s worries. “You didn’t make me wait long, don't worry.” She flashes a reassuring smile as Chaewon nods her head, a smile makes her to her features as they start ordering before talking about the different happenings.

Chaewon was talking about how exhausting it was being a leader and how she finally understood Eunbi, their former leader, struggles with handling a group. Chaewon shudders at how handling 4 other members was already too much of a hassle that she couldn’t imagine what it was like in Eunbi’s place. Yena listens while taking a sip from her water. “And then like Kazuha and Yunjin were like in the kitchen trying out food combinations that I didn’t know was even possible with Eunchae hyping them up and Kkura unnie just staring, clearly tired yet horrified.” Chaewon explains and Yena laughs at Chaewon’s story. “And where was LE SSERAFIM’s beloved leader during that time?” She teases and Chaewon rolls her eyes, her teasing smile doesn’t falter as she looks at Yena. “Well, their leader was outside going on a date with the person in front of her.” Chaewon teases her, this catches Yena off-guard but she decides to not back down with what Chaewon had thrown to her as she turns to look around as if she was looking for someone. This confuses Chaewon. When Chaewon finally realizes what Yena was trying to do she lightly kicks Yena’s legs and even with how light it was it still causes Yena to yelp in pain. “Hey what was that for?” Yena pouts as she rubs the spot where Chaewon had kicked. Instead of receiving a proper response Chaewon sticks out her tongue and this makes Yena roll her eyes. At least that part of Chaewon still remained. “I swear it’s no wonder you’re still single.” Chaewon randomly blurts out and this surprises Yena. “Excuse me! I’m single by choice!” Yena defends herself as she crosses her arms. “What about you aren’t you single too?” Yena tries to switch the tables but Chaewon leans closer to Yena and this makes the older girl falter a bit. “I’m single because a certain someone can’t seem to take a hint.” She whispers and now Yena felt like a cold bucket of water had been dropped onto her as she freezes upon hearing Chaewon’s words. “What? Who?” She asks but Chaewon shrugs.

As much as Yena wanted to pry, she didn’t want Chaewon to force herself to explain so she stayed silent and right on time the food that they had ordered arrived. Although while eating they both did try to initiate different conversations. Somehow the whole conversation about their relationship status was forgotten as they both had jumped from one topic to another.

Soon enough they had finished their food, but they weren’t going to leave just yet. “So I heard from your manager that you rushed to finish your schedule today.” Chaewon mentions this and as a response this makes Yena choke on her drink. “Are you serious?” Yena gulps as she watches how Chaewon’s expression remains the same, before a smile slowly appears on the younger girl’s expression. “Oh my god was I right?” It was then Yena knew that Chaewon was in fact, messing with her. Yena doesn’t say anything but her beet red face was enough of a response to Chaewon. To Chaewon it was endearing how Yena had rushed to finish what was to be finished just so she could show up today. “If I was right, you shouldn’t have unnie. You could’ve rescheduled tonight.” Chaewon feels bad when she slowly thinks how exhausted Yena must’ve been having to show up after a tiring schedule. “I wanted to spend time with you.” Yena answers. “If I had rescheduled tonight, who knows if suddenly I’ll be busy or you’ll be busy. I saw the chance and possibility to be able to finish my schedule as soon as possible and I took it.” Yena reaches out to hold Chaewon’s hands. Chaewon doesn’t flinch, instead she intertwines their hands. “But you must be exhausted now, right?” Chaewon worries as she bites her lower lip, her worries continue to engulf her but Yena shakes her head, and somehow that happens to shake away Chaewon’s worries. “With you, I’m far from feeling exhausted.” Chaewon tries to look for any sort of mischief in Yena’s eyes but all she found was Yena’s genuine gaze. “With you, Chaewon I’m already resting.” Yena continues and this makes Chaewon flustered with her words and tone. “What are you saying, unnie.” She looks away, unable to look Yena more in the eyes as she feels her face turn redder. Her attempt to hide her blush seemed to fail as she hears Yena laugh. “When I said I was single by choice, it was because a certain someone can’t seem to take a hint.” Yena rests her elbow on the table as she allows her cheek to rest on her palm. She watches as Chaewon’s eyes widen. Was Chaewon being delusional or was Yena referring to her as well? “Who?” Chaewon manages to ask as Yena’s smile doesn’t drop down.  “Well, she happened to be outside right now,” Yena’s eyes continues to look at Chaewon’s eyes, not breaking eye contact even for a second. This makes Chaewon feel nervous. “She happened to also be on a date,” she continues, Chaewon feels hope hitting her as she bites back a smile. “Is that person happen to be someone I know?” Chaewon asks and Yena lets out a hum, as if debating if she should answer Chaewon or not. Anticipation fills the air as Chaewon waits for Yena’s response. Although Chaewon knows that she shouldn’t really get her hopes up, if Chaewon’s guess would be right, she would finally be able to sleep properly at night. “Oh it’s someone you know alright.” Yena answers and this time Chaewon doesn’t even hide her smile anymore as she leans closer to Yena. “How about you call her right now?” Chaewon dares and Yena is surprised. “Call her? She’s outside and on a date at that, wouldn’t I be a bother to her?” Yena reasons out and Chaewon nods her head slowly. “Well it’s worth a shot, I mean if it’s from you, I don’t think she would find you bothersome at all.” She urges Yena to go along with her dare. “What do I even say?” Yena asks as she picks up her phone. Chaewon shrugs. “Anything.”

The word anything was too broad for Yena’s liking. There were plenty of things she would want to say if she could say anything. She could see from her peripheral, Chaewon’s gaze shift from her phone to her. Suddenly nervousness kicks in as she opens her contacts, already clicking on the number. Her thumb hovers over the call button, letting out an exhale as she presses the call button. She brings up her phone close to her ear as she waits for the call to go through. Suddenly Chaewon’s phone starts ringing and she could’ve sworn that as soon as she had seen Yena’s ID Name on her phone had shown up, a series of emotions hit her as she picked up her phone to answer Yena’s call. “Hello?” Chaewon answers as if Yena wasn’t in front of her. “Hey.” Yena warmly smiles at Chaewon. “If I admit something to you now, I hope this doesn’t change anything about us.” Yena’s tone was laced with worry. Right before Chaewon could react with Yena’s first few words, Yena stops her. “Chaewon-ah, you’re the person I’m interested in. You’re the person I like. I hope that what I feel for you won’t change anything between us.” And just like that Yena ends the call.

It was suddenly silent. No one dares to utter a word until Chaewon clears . “You say that you hope nothing changes between the two of us,” Chaewon grabs a hold of Yena’s hand before pressing a light kiss on her knuckles. “But what if I do want something to change between us?” Chaewon asks, she doesn’t glance up as she knows that if she does, all the confidence she had managed to muster would go down the drain. “Do you?” Chaewon hums in agreement. “I do.” She answers, she closes her eyes before opening them to look at Yena, she allows herself to scan Yena’s features, no matter how dim the lights in the restaurant were she could still admire Yena’s beauty. It didn’t help how Yena chose the best table seeing how gorgeous the city lights were. Everything about this night, from the location, the ambiance, the view, and the person she was with were beyond perfect. There was nothing more Chaewon could ask for, except perhaps for Yena’s reply to her.

“Then, if I ask you to be my girlfriend, what would you say?”

“I would be a fool to say no.”

And so their night ends with Yena's heart filling with joy as she hears Chaewon's words, Chaewon's eyes sparkle with happiness, mirroring the city lights outside the window. Bliss surrounds their bubble knowing that they both share the same feelings for each other. They spend the rest of the evening lost in each other's company, allowing the warmth of their relationship to spread across their worlds. Laughter, and whispered conversations fill the air as they share stories, dreams, and aspirations. The restaurant suddenly becomes their haven. A core memory to both as they leave the restaurant under the starlit sky, they continue to walk hand in hand.
