I-Makoto Shinkai natin ang moment na 'toIt's another Friday night.
The sky boasted of silhouettes of clouds, of the rhapsody of stars' luminosity trying to pierce through them, almost resembling a penumbra.
Joohyun and Seulgi looked at this surreal vision, as they sat in separate swings in the same playground they frequent to, near Joohyun's apartment in Quezon city.
Silence enveloped them — though their hearts beat wildly.
"Dr. Joohyun," Seulgi said.
"Para sa 'yo, treat ko, kasi full-fledged manggagawa na rin ako," she smiled meekly. She handed Joohyun a paper bag.
Inside are eight pieces of kwek-kwek, the flour-coated quail eggs with orange coloring, a trademark street food that Filipinos love.
Joohyun smiled. "Salamat Seul. Tara, hati tayo."
Joohyun handed Seulgi some of it, while she nibbled on the rest.
"Pasensya ka na, eto lang muna, bawi ako sa 'yo sa first suweldo ko as a regular employee," Seulgi said as she chewed.
"This is more than enough Seul," Joohyun said.
You are more than enough.
Their placid exchange mixed with the outside, distant sound of rush-hour traffic and the chatter of people moving, heading somewhere. Internally, there's no quietude though - their minds raced with thoughts of each other, of musings and questions such as - I want to be with you - Do you want to be with me too?
