Yoon Doojoon

“Don’t tell me you’re living in this house.” She asked.

“I’m about to.” I said, smirking.

She looked at me then at the floor. Seems, like now I got the better of you. “Whatever.” She said, before leaving me.

Suit yourself, honey. "Find, I'll just ask the maids." I cried, teasing her again before seeing her disappeared from my eyesight.

But I wasn't lying about my room. I really don't know where it is. But of course, I won't ask the maids. Psshh... Yoon Doojoon talking to a maid? Not in anyone's dream. Instead I ask one of the butlers there. I was brought to the second floor and into my room. I toured the whole room and... it's okay. Not as good as mine but good enough. And I heard my room's opposite of Eunkyung. This should be interesting.

I already changed to a pair of comfortable trousers and shirt. I looked outside my window and feel the breeze went through me. It's unusually cold. Maybe it's gonna rain soon. So, I closed the window and went under the blanket. Ahh... just what I need. A comfy place to sleep. I stared at my room's ceiling. Remembering the first time I met Eunkyung.

"Good evening, sir." My dad shooked hand with a man in his forties. He brought his wife and daughter along. I examined her from top to bottom. She wear what all those typical rich girl wore. Shining jewelries, luxed fabric clothing and perfectly touched-up hair. Though, I sense she's a bit different from the one I had known.

"This is my son, Doojoon." My dad said, patting me at the back. Turning my attention away from her.

Her father laughed. "Haha... What I fine man you are."

"Thank you." I bowed at his compliment.

"You know what we've been planning." He suddenly said in a tense voice at my dad. My dad shooked his head. "Maybe it's best if I tell him."

I turned towards my father. What to tell me?

"Doojoon, you see. I and Eunkyung's father decide to married of you two." I bulged my eyes. Even Eunkyung too.

"But of course, you'll get engaged first." Eunkyung's father suddenly added in. That isn't helping at all.

"But, dad... " I tried to protest but my dad gave me the you-better-shut-up-or-you'll-get-it glance.

Seeing me quiet. Eunkyung's father said, "Haha... a man indeed. I'm glad you understand."

I glanced at Eunkyung. She didn't dare to look anywhere but to the dear marble floor. Looks like we're in the same boat. Forced to be married or else.... there's no or else.

Upon the printed paper called money, my heart and live were traded. Upon the greed of others, my freedom were thrown away. I can't believe I was born into this world by two heartless people. Were I born because of love, or because of the chances awaiting for others to use it? Sometimes, I rather be poor and ugly than be heartless and liveless.

Suddenly, I remembered Eunkyung. Were she like me? Puppets of this greedy world. I saw her face that other day, crying. And I thought how we are aliked. Then, I saw her smile and made me thought how could she be happy like that? Maybe I still need to learn from her more.

I keep staring at the ceiling and suddenly I heard a loud thunder and the light went off. Maybe the lightning cut off the power grid. But then I heard footsteps, and then...
