My zing.

‘Cause you’re my zing

“Jimin ah, don’t forget to close the window.” After he yelled for his roommate, Seokjin quickly put on his shoes and ran to the bus stop in front of their apartment area.

When he finally had hopped on the bus, Seokjin sighed.

You see, Seokjin was a typical hopeless and single theater student of Seoul University. He had been transferred from Gwangchun when he was only 20, new to everything. Blamed it on his overprotective parents, Seokjin never did anything by himself before. But after hearing Yoongi, his best friend, transferred to Seoul University on his Sophomore year, Seokjin decided that he was old enough to do things without his parents guide.

After tenth times of begging, his parents gave in and told both of them to look after each other.

“Jimin doesn’t have class today,” Yoongi grumpily said after he arrived at their usual table at the cafeteria.

“Don’t be so grumpy, Yoongi. You can go on date with Jimin after your 3pm class.” Seokjin pat his head like a baby.

The thing was that, since younger, Yoongi and Seokjin was inseparable, thanked to both parents were best friend just like them. They went to the same elementary to high school. They shared secrets, and they trusted each other’s liked real brothers. They also shared friends with each other, and so that was how Yoongi met Jimin.

Jimin was a freshman when he came knocking on Junior Seokjin’s apartment, claiming he was the Park Jimin that signed to be his roommate. Seokjin let him in, and they clicked together immediately. Jimin was a caring person, so did Seokjin. So after a week of knowing each other, Jimin told him he heard his soulmate singing inside his head which was happened to be the night Seokjin invited Yoongi over to meet his new roommate.

When Yoongi knocked on their door that night, Jimin was so happening to be the one who opened the door. They stared at each other in shock as their mind linked, and they soundlessly talking inside their head.

Seokjin saw the two soulmates gaping at each other, and he couldn’t help but smiled. It were Yoongi and Jimin who found their others half, but Seokjin was the one who was all over the moon. They decided to celebrate that night with one large BBQ chicken pizza, and twelve chicken wings.

Yoongi stayed the night because their bond made him sick when he stayed somewhere too far from Jimin. Seokjin was more than okay with it. But as the night rolled on, Seokjin hopelessly dreamed about his own soulmate. He wondered did that person born yet? Or, was that girl or boy? Which Seokjin didn’t care because as long as he had a soulmate like others, it was enough.

Jimin fully became a part of Seokjin friend group from that day. Seokjin hung out with the couple almost everyday at school, sometimes Jimin brought Taehyung and Jungkook, his best friends also another couple, or the sophomore in his dance class, Hoseok, who also happened to be Yoongi’s partner in his Music composition and  was his roommate.

They were all having fun with each other, but as Seokjin looked at Yoongi and Jimin, he felt lonely. Don’t get Seokjin wrong, he was so happy for his friend, but he wished he could meet his other half soon, too.

“What time will Hoseok come and change his shift with you?” Yoongi asked as he picked a spoonful of rice.

“6pm. He and Joohoon change shift with each other now. It means, we can have a Saturday marathon movie night together.” Seokjin clapped his hands in delight.

“Sure things, Hyung. Stay safe, okay? After my class end, I will pick Jimin up, so we can visit you at your workplace.”

Seokjin put the last spoonful of rice inside his mouth before nodding. He looked at his watch and sighed. He had 20 minutes before 2 o’clock.

“I will head out now.” Seokjin quickly put back his lunch box into the bag, and waved Yoongi goodbye.

He shortly arrived at the shop after 10 minutes, and went to change.

“Hi, Mina.” Seokjin greeted his coworker.

“Seokjin Oppa,” Mina delightfully said. “Can I go now? I have a date with my boyfriend at 3 and I haven’t change yet.”

Mina gave Seokjin a puppy eyes look. Seokjin couldn’t resist her cuteness, only sighed and gave in. Mina hugged him before she collected her bag and went out of the door.

The business was going well. There were a few college students at the corner, doing their assignments, and some workers came in to have afternoon coffee.

True to Yoongi words, he and Jimin arrived at 3:23pm. They stayed to chat with Seokjin before announced that they will head out for a date, and told Seokjin to wait them for dinner because they will go back to his apartment.

Seokjin bid them goodbye before looked at the clock. 4:34pm. Another hour and a half to wait.

The cafe was so silent, except from the sound of students typing their keyboard, that made Seokjin felt sleepy.

He closed his eyes for a little and started on daydreaming. He fondly smiled and sighed.

He daydreamed about a certain someone with a height higher than him, not so muscle and with a nice smile. Seokjin smiled to himself. When can he meet them? Seokjin dreamily sighed.

All of sudden, he heard a melody. A song... oh that was so familiar.

...the air and I don't have a care.

I'm winging from the zing that we share....

Seokjin frowned. Ehh, inside the cafe, he was playing Selena Gomez “Back to you”, but why did he heard The zing from Hotel Transylvania movie instead? It was weird.

Then, he stopped hearing it. It abruptly stopped  as it came.

Seokjin opened his eyes and sighed again. Maybe he missed that movies, so that was why he imagined its song.

Seokjin stood up to greet high school girls who came in to have smoothies.

“You’re so handsome, Oppa.” One of the girl complimented him. He smiled and thanked her. Every strangers who came across will say the same thing to Seokjin, so he got used to it.

Seokjin looked at the clock. 10 more minutes before 6pm, before Hoseok came to change him.

The front door swung open, and a familiar voice rang through the cafe, earning a few curious looks from the customers.

“I’m here, Jin-Hyung.” Hoseok voice echoed inside.

“Low down yo-“ Seokjin couldn’t finish his words when the same song came crush back inside his head.

I thought I found a love but she was just a fling.

And then I met a girl,

and felt a different thing.

It's like your hit in the ring like you're pulled by a string.

Can't breathe like you're choking on a chicken wing.

Seokjin gasped softly. The zing song came back, but this time with a low, raspy voice mentally singing along since there was no voice rang in that moment, excepted Selena Gomez’s Sober.

Seokjin looked around, and his eyes landed on the guy with ears phone in his ears, bopping his head slightly to whatever song he was listening to behind Hoseok.

“... my cousin. Just transferred to SNU yesterday. He was the same major as Yoongi-Hyung and me, we....”

Hoseok voice drown out when the man, Seokjin was sure it him, sang again.

It was a thing called a zing.

And I wanted to sing,

and listen to the ballads of a man named Sting.

Baby, looks in your eye.

And it's suddenly spring like when Nala looked at Simba in the lion king.

Seokjin decided it now or never that he will find out if this man was destined to be his or not.

“Zinging in the air and I don't have a care.” The man behind Hoseok startled. He looked up and around until his eyes landed on Seokjin. His eyes widen and his mouth fell open.

“I'm winging from the zing that we share.

Zinging in the rain.

Now I'm feeling no pain.

Seokjin continued to sing. It seemed like Hoseok noticed the moment because he stepped aside and looked at the two with interest.

The man pulled off his headphones as they were staring at each other.

“It's real, time for celebrating cause you're my zing.” They both sang together, this time, they sang it out loud.

“Oh my,” Seokjin whispered, felt dazed. He still couldn’t believe he had met his soulmate today.

“I will go and change.” Hoseok grinned before ran to the staff room. It went unnoticed by both gaping men.

They continued to stare at each other, until the man smiled. And he had TWO DIMPLES. Seokjin squealed inside his head. He wanted to poke them.

“Hi,” the man stepped toward Seokjin. “I’m Namjoon.”

He held out his hand to shake.

“Hi! I’m Seokjin.” The shook hand.

At that moment, both of them felt electric ran wild inside them. At that moment, their bond settled. At that moment, they knew they would right everything to be together eternally. At that moment, they know no one could stop their love that was blooming for each other.

“You know, Hyung, Joon,” Hoseok voice suddenly piped up, making both men jolted, separating from each other. Blush adored their cheeks. “The hotdog stand beside Han river is still open.”

Hoseok laughed at their face, before shooing and winking at them, telling them to go somewhere else flirting.

‘Let me change first.’ Seokjin used telepathy. Didn’t want Hoseok making fun of him.

‘Sure, I will wait here.’ Namjoon winked at Seokjin.

Seokjin quickly collected his blushing face, and ran to the staff room.

When he finished, he went out to find Namjoon. Only finding a teasing Hoseok with a blushing Namjoon.

They bit Hoseok goodbye, not before hearing Hoseok loud, “Good luck,” and “Cherry flavor protection.”

As they fell into step, Seokjin looked toward Namjoon. He found that Namjoon was already looking at him.

  “What?” Seokjin asked.

“Never in my daydream dreamt of my soulmate as gorgeous and beautiful as you.” Namjoon said what his mind thought. And it turned Seokjin cheeks pink. He liked that color on Seokjin cheeks.

  “You’re so cheesy.”

“Only for you, but I’m also being honest though.” Namjoon smiled wide at Seokjin. Seokjin bashfully chuckled.

“You are not bad yourself too, Mr. Dimple.”

Namjoon laughed at the nickname, so did Seokjin.

“Thanks though.” Namjoon laughed as if Seokjin was only joking.

“I meant it.” Seokjin pouted. “You’re taller then me, with that manly face. Ahh... you’re better than my imagination.”

It made Namjoon face red. They both looked at each other and laughed.

As they was near the hotdog stand, Namjoon had cased Seokjin another look, before his brave went away, he grabbed Seokjin hand, and intertwined them together.

Seokjin heart was beating so fast that he afraid he might went into a cardiac arrest. He looked at Namjoon. Even he acted as if it was normal, he could see the crimson color on his right cheek.

Seokjin squeezed their hand lightly before walked to the hotdog stand.

After buying, they decided to sit at the park nearby.

  “Emm so...”

They started introducing themselves. From Namjoon name, to Namjoon favorite thing to do (“I like looking at the scenery, but now I like looking at you.”) to Seokjin telling about his embarrassing stories.

“You wouldn’t believe this, but many people mistook me as Yoongi’s younger brother because I’m so small. I’m so offended because I’m 4 months older than him.” Seokjin whined and pouted at Namjoon. Namjoon couldn’t help but stare a little longer at Seokjin lips.

“Who’s Yoongi?” Namjoon asked as to not get caught staring.

“My best friend. We’ve known each other since we were in diaper.”

  Namjoon hummed.

Namjoon looked at the time. Only 7:24pm. He was about to ask if Seokjin wanted to stroll around more, and maybe went back to his place for movies, Seokjin phone buzzed.

Seokjin looked down at the notifications. Yoongi messaged him.

YoongiChii:

  Where are you?

Oh god, don’t tell me you got yourself kidnapped.

! Who is this? ing give Seokjin back, or I swear to god I’m gonna ing finding you, .

  WHERE IS JIN!!!

“He curses a lot.” Namjoon said as he leaned down to read the sms.

Seokjin just laughed it off and told Namjoon that was Yoongi. Yoongi cursed just like he ate food.

You:

 Yoongi, I’m fine!

  I’m out now.

YoongiChii:

  With who? WHO IS THAT?

You:

  My soulmate...

Yoongi:

Hi Jin hyung. This is Jimin. Yoongi hyung is busy screaming about now you can get laid.

Anw, can I see him? Your soulmate?

GIVE US A PHOTO. WHO IS THAT LUCKY DUDE THAT GET TO HAVE YOUR

“Oh, Okay!” Seokjin startled as he heard Namjoon said. Yoongi said some unappreciated, now Namjoon saw them.

Seokjin face palmed. He forgot Namjoon was reading the text too.

“Come on, let take a photo.” Namjoon nagged him. “So that you can show who is a lucky dude that get to have your cutie .”

“Namjoon,” Seokjin whined. Namjoon laughed loudly before fell of the bench because Seokjin pushed him.

“Hey, I just repeated what Yoongi said.” Namjoon got up from the ground and took Seokjin phone.

Namjoon put his hand on Seokjin shoulder, so that he could come a little closer (No, Namjoon didn’t want to stay close to Seokjin, No, not at all,) and they snapped a photo for Seokjin friends.

“There,” Both of them widely smiled in the photo. Namjoon clicked sending the photo.

“Already sent,” Namjoon handed his phone back, and there was a small message under the photo won’t be home tonight.

“So, do you want to watch Hotel Transylvania together?” Namjoon shyly asked.

“Emm... all seasons?” Seokjin tiled his head to the side and looked at Namjoon with adoration in his eyes.

“All of the 3 seasons.” Namjoon replied back. He stared into Seokjin eyes, like Seokjin hung the moon, the stars, and the universe.

Namjoon got up and offered Seokjin his hand. Seokjin grabbed it and stood up too.

They twinned their fingers together, before walked back to Namjoon’s place.

When the sunlight shined through the window, on both of the sleeping figures, with Seokjin head rested softly on Namjoon chest and arms around him, and Namjoon’s chin rested on Seokjin head with his arm held tightly on Seokjin’s torso, they both knew there was nowhere else they would rather be than here, inside each other arms, for as long as they shall live.
