“Are you ok? You look tired” Hyunwoo asked when finally Kihyun picked up his video call

“Changkyun caught cold, you know how clingy he is when he’s sick” Kihyun rubbed his face feeling exhausted but forced a smile “How’s your work there? Have you had your dinner?”

“You don’t have to worry about me, worry about yourself, When did he fall sick? Why you didn’t tell me? I could ask my mom to accompany you” Hyunwoo offered

“Since yesterday, it’s just a cold, nothing to be worried about, and remember your mom is having her holiday in Jeju now, I don’t want to disturb her, anyway I still can manage it” Kihyun shrugged, rested his back on the headboard watching his husband from his phone screen. Hyunwoo was away for business trip since the week before while Kihyun managing his children at home alone

“But you look tired Kihyunnie, I’m worried” Hyunwoo looked serious and it fluttered Kihyun to know that his husband really worried about him

“I’m really ok, it’s just you know how clingy Changkyun is but his brothers especially Minhyuk didn’t want to let him rest, I keep explaining to him that Changkyun needs a lot of rest but he still bothering him, maybe because you are not around and the kids have no one to play with because I always stuck with Changkyun these days”

“Pass the phone to Minhyuk, I’ll talk to him” Kihyun flinched at the stern voice of Hyunwoo

“It’s really ok Hyunwoo, he’s upset because you are not around don’t make him more upset by scolding him” Kihyun now rested his head on the pillow, lying down trying his best to be awake

“But - “ Hyunwoo stopped when he heard Changkyun’s crying voice from the baby monitor Kihyun set for Changkyun

“No but, I need to go now talk to you later” Kihyun hang up before Hyunwoo could say anything and he just ran off to see what happened to Changkyun

“Why why what happened baby? Are you ok?” Kihyun opened up Changkyun’s bedroom only to find Minhyuk was beside him playing with the 1 year old boy stomach “Did Minhyuk hyung disturbed you?” When Changkyun nodded Kihyun sighed “Minhyukkie, we have talked about this, Changkyun is sick, he needs a lot of rest so he can be healthy again and he can play with you” Kihyun tried his best not to sound stern, he knew how fragile his kids could be whenever one of the parents not around, and he didn’t need another kid crying when Changkyun was sobbing on his embrace

“But I’m bored” Minhyuk pouted “And Changkyun looks bored too”

“He’s sick Minhyuk, all he needs right now is a lot of rest when he’s healthy he will play with you again” Kihyun sighed and looked at the clock on the wall “Isn’t this pass your bedtime, you should be sleeping too” Kihyun frowned

“But I’m not sleepy” Minhyuk looked down now, Kihyun was about to say something when Minhyuk cut him off “Usually appa or daddy will read a story book before I sleep, but now appa is not around and daddy, you always spend your time with Changkyun because he’s sick I don’t want to disturb you, you look tired” Kihyun’s heart broke over the confession Minhyuk made. He wished he had more energy to attend to all his children’s needs at the same time but he had to admit this time when he had to manage everything by himself with a sick toddler it was definitely not easy

“Do you want me to read a story book for you tonight?” Kihyun offered, he was exhausted to the bone but what kind of parent he was if he ignored a simple request from his child just because he was tired?

“Aren’t you tired daddy?” Minhyuk looked up to Kihyun and the latter could see how happy the 5 years old boy was with Kihyun offer

“It’s ok, but promise me you will go to sleep after that and don’t disturb Changkyun anymore until he’s healthier ok?” When Minhyuk nodded enthusiastically Kihyun smiled, he put down the sleeping Changkyun back to his bed and walked with Minhyuk on his hand back to the boy’s room

“Good night Minhyukkie, sleep tight” Kihyun whispered when he saw Minhyuk’s eyes were closed even before he managed to finish his story book. Kihyun the bedside lamp before he turned off the room’s light but right before he left the room he heard Minhyuk whispered

“Good night daddy, I’m sorry I make you more tired, I promise I won’t disturb Changkyunnie again until he’s healthy, I love you” Kihyun had to swallow the tears over what Minhyuk said he cleared his throat before he opened up his mouth

“It’s ok Minhyukkie, love you too” Kihyun closed the door and walked groggily to his own room with Hyunwoo after he checked on Changkyun, the baby slept well thanks to the medicine, hopefully tonight he finally able to sleep after for the past two days he had been getting less than 3 hours of sleep because of Changkyun.

Kihyun swore he just managed to close his eyes for 2 hours when Changkyun’s crying voice heard on the baby monitor, forcing himself to wake up he rubbed his eyes trying to chase away the sleepiness, he could feel his head was throbbing in pain with the lack of sleep he had. Kihyun found Changkyun was crying softly on his crib when he went in to the baby’s room

“Hey, what happened?” Kihyun picked up Changkyun and noticed how wet the boy was, must be because of the sweat, he was glad at least with the medicine Changkyun took the fever had gone down but of course the baby would sweat a lot as the effect “You don’t feel comfortable is it? it’s ok stop crying I will change your clothes” Kihyun whispered while walking to Changkyun’s wardrobe, he changed Changkyun’s clothes but the toddler still not closing his eyes, and still sniffling on his embrace “Why baby? Aren’t you tired?” Kihyun had to walk around the house just to make Changkyun stopped crying but the moment he sat down Changkyun would start to cry again, with an exhausted body and lack of sleep Kihyun himself feels like he was going to cry together with his son but no, he knew he had to be strong. Kihyun was singing lullaby gently while trying to keep himself awake when he heard the front’s door was opened. Kihyun had prepared himself to kill whoever trying to sneak in to his home but he was stunned when he saw Hyunwoo was standing just few meters away from him

“Hi” Hyunwoo said when Kihyun remained silent “I’m home” he walked closer to Kihyun and kissed the latter’s lips gently “Hi Changkyunnie, you make your daddy tired didn’t you?” Hyunwoo teased the one year old baby who then was squirming on Kihyun’s embrace trying to get to his appa “Give me Changkyun, you look too exhausted to carry him anymore” without saying anything Kihyun gave Changkyun to Hyunwoo and the older carried the baby easily on his embrace “You miss me, don’t you?” Hyunwoo smiled and kissed Changkyun’s head gently while rubbing the toddler’s back

“Aren’t you supposed to be home in 5 days later?” Kihyun asked when Hyunwoo went in to their bedroom after he managed to put back the baby into sleep while he let Kihyun went to their room first to sleep

“And aren’t you supposed to be asleep now?” Hyunwoo asked back

“You know avoiding my question isn’t the right choice” Kihyun frowned “Don’t tell me you ditched your job because of me again? We have talked about this Hyunwoo… I will tell you when I need help you don’t have to ditch your job for me” Hyunwoo didn’t say anything and just slipped himself beside Kihyun on the bed

“I can’t stand this look when I saw it during our video call today” Hyunwoo said while tracing Kihyun’s face gently “I can’t focus on my work whenever I think how hard it must be for you, don’t worry about my job, all the important things are done, the rest I can do it from here” Hyunwoo moved closer and kissed Kihyun’s eyes

“Thank you…” Kihyun whispered in the dark when Hyunwoo turned off their bedside light

“Sleep well and don’t think about anything, I’m here right now and the only thing I want from you is you get enough and decent sleep” Hyunwoo kissed Kihyun’s lips, lingering there for few seconds feeling himself recharged by the younger’s lips, home, finally it feels like home Hyunwoo thought afterwards “I’m home” he whispered to Kihyun who already closed his eyes

“Welcome home” Kihyun whispered back before he let himself lost in the land of dream finally able to sleep well after few days.
