Rolling to a stop, he shifted his car into park as he reached over for his phone that slid around on the passenger seat. Unlocking his phone, light illuminated his face while his thumb brushed across the screen before tapping an app. While the app loaded, his hands positioned themselves on either side on the phone at the ready to send you a message. HIs eyes turned to his right and peered out the passenger window at your place of residence. Watching one of the second story windows, he watched as a shadow moved across the lighted room with grace and beauty. Turning his eyes towards the app, he typed his message saying that he was here and waiting outside for you whenever you were ready. Moving his eyes back over to the lighted room, he watched the light flick off as he smiled brightly while his heart quickened anticipating your arrival.

Watching you emerge from the front door, a jacket in hand along with your phone while your other hand reached back and closed the front door behind you. Trotting down the front stairs, you skipped across the sidewalk, stopping at the curb’s edge. You peered both ways before jogging across the road.

Gauging his timing, he leaned over the passenger seat and unlocked the door before pushing it open to you. Grabbing the frame of the door, you stepped inside and slid into his seat, closing the door behind you.

“Hi beautiful” Wonho smiled as you couldn’t help but smile while you turned your head over to him.

“Hi handsome” You greeted him with a smile, watching him lean over, he pressed a soft kiss against your cheek while the scent of you overcame him.

“I’ve missed you so much” Wonho whispered against your cheek with a hard-to-hide smile curling on his lips. He slowly pulled away, your eyes opened slowly as they met with his under the low light within the car.

“I’ve missed you too” You whispered in reply. “Where are we going to go tonight?”

“You’ll see” Wonho smiled as he turned his attention to driving. Shifting the car back into drive, he looked around before pulling out of the temporary parking space on your street.

Songs softly played over the radio as you hummed to the ones that you knew, taking in the scenery as the residential areas turned into city scapes then into coastal views. Light slowly began to dim around you the further you traveled. Street lights began to warm up their lights while shops began to turn on their window lights, allowing light to filter out of their shops and onto the street. In turn drawing more people inside to look at the highlighted products within the windows.

Wonho glanced over once in awhile, taking in your beauty as you peered out the window. Stars littered the sky as the car’s headlights highlighted the white and yellow lines on the road. Wonho couldn’t help but smile to himself every time he looked over at you, reaching over with his right hand, he gently slipped his hand into yours as he added a gentle squeeze where words seemed to fail how he was feeling. His left hand sat atop of the steering wheel, instructing the car on where to go. Following the curves as the road slowly descended down to a sandy parking lot that faced an intimate beach, one where very little people knew of its location.

Slowing to a halt amongst the shallow sand, Wonho smiled as he shut off the engine and pulled the key out of the ignition, “This is our stop.”

“What are we doing here?” You questioned while unbuckling yourself from the seat. Your eyes taking in the beautiful yet isolated beach from the dimly lit interior of the car.

“You needed an escape from this past week and so I am giving you one” Wonho pulled the door’s handle as it opened allowing the crisp air to flood the warmer interior. Rounding the front of the car, he trotted over to your door. Pulling the handle, he opened the door to you and offered you a hand as you stepped outside of the car. Your eyes continued to take in the rough rocks, the untouched sand and the water lapping up against the shore of the beach. A perfectly level horizontal line cut the picture in half as white fluffy clouds resided in the upper portion along with a dimming sun and miles beyond miles in front of you.

Your sandals hit the cooling sand as you exited his car. He closed the door behind you as your fingers laced with his once again. Sand dispersed from under your feet, building up on the edges of your sandals while a few grains of sand spilled in between your toes. With each step the sand would fall from your touch before you placed your foot back down and sand would cover the edges of your feet once more. Shuffling out towards the water, the two of you taking in the soft breeze coming over the water while the sun began to make it’s daily finale. Pinks painted across the sky as the blue hues lightened to soften the border between the two colors, oranges and reds began to shine through the pink while the blue darkened on the horizon.

Peering at the sunset then slowly turning your view to include Wonho, you dropped your eyes down watching the sand cling to your toes while feeling something began to grow within the pit of your stomach. A feeling that had been emerging occasionally from time to time, but has become more frequent than far and few inbetween. Something that you had been thinking about for the past few weeks but haven’t had the heart to bring up with Wonho. Staring down at the cooling sand, the water almost reaching your feet as you walked on the edge of its wake.

Feeling his thumb rub over your fingers, almost in a reassuring manner, your eyes lifted while that gentle touch brought you out of your thoughts and back into reality. Slowed his pace to match yours as you slowly began to fall further back behind him. The lap of the waves on the shore and the sound of the occasional seagull filled the silence between the two of you while your footprints lined the shore.

Rounding a soft corner, a cluster or rocks sat on the edge of the water, the water gently lapped against one of the larger boulders while another hung over the edge creating a gap between the water and the rock. In the distance a lighthouse began to warm it’s light while water hit up against the wall of rocks starting to wrap around the bay.

“Come on, _______” Wonho poked your side, causing you to squeal slightly as his hand released from yours, he took off in a sprint as he climbed the rocks expertly. “What are you waiting for ______!”

With his call, you sauntered towards him, climbing the rock after him while following his footsteps on scaling the large boulders. Climbing to the top of one boulder and then moving to another boulder then another, a beautiful sight captured your attention. Approaching the cliffed rock, you eased yourself down on the edge, feeling the summer ocean breeze through your hair, your eyes closed a moment taking in the peace, the stillness of the moment.

Turning around, Wonho noticed your figure sitting on the edge of the rock, abandoning his curiosity to go and explore the higher rocks, he made his way back to you. Easing himself down behind you, his arms wrapping around your stomach allowing himself to become closer to you as he pressed his chest against your back. His warmth radiated into your chilled body, his fingers gently brushing along your exposed arm while his head rested against yours in the stilled moment.

Watching the final colors of the sun cast across the ocean, the clouds adjusting the colors within the sky creating a spectacular show for the two of you. As you sat there in his arms, that feeling from before began to seep to the surface of your thoughts, almost as if it was growing until you couldn’t push it away. Feeling your body tense, Wonho let his grip release from you slightly while your fingers found the rope bracelet that you gave to him still wrapped around his wrist.

“What are you thinking in this very moment?” Wonho questioned feeling that something was off about you.

“Nothing” You whispered with a soft shake of your head. Pushing the relentless nagging feeling down and away from your thoughts.

“You sure?” Wonho inquired as you head just nodded, “You know, I am thinking about all that we have been through, how happy you make me and what I wouldn’t do to put a smile on your face.”

Ocean breeze blew through your hair, chilling your warming body as your body shivered adjusting to the temperature. Feeling your slight shiver his arms tightened around you, “You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me and I’m not gonna let go.”

His words ghosted over the shell of your ear, the warmth of his breath causing shivers to run down your spine as that feeling continued to intrude on your thoughts, becoming too big to now ignore.

“You sure?” Doubt lined your words as Wonho gazed at you with slightly larger eyes.

“Absolutely. Age is just a number, you just have advanced in more levels than I have.” Wonho tried to make you laugh but with no avail. “Is everything okay?”

“I’m just having some doubts…” You whispered feeling ashamed that you are having these feelings, your head dropped as your hands retracted from him, in an attempt to protect yourself by making you more distant to him.

”Doubts? About what?” Wonho’s full attention was on you as you kept your eyes looking off into the distance.

“Us.” Your one word answer began to tread of fragile ground, your mind slowly formulated what you wanted to say next, running through many possible scenarios and responses that he could say.

Wonho was patient as he waited a minute or two for you to continue, “You are two years younger than me, and an idol, I just don’t know if I am worthy of someone like you or if I need to go find someone older. I don’t want to hold you back and you have so many girls that you could choose from and you chose a broken me over someone else who could be more perfect to you and for you.”

“Sweetie” He slowly turned you around so that you were sitting sideways between his legs, his thumb and finger lifted up and moved your face towards him so that he could look into your eyes. “Age is just a number, I don’t care if I am older than you or if you are older than me. I just feel like we fit. Ever since the first day we found each other, we have been best friends.”

His tone got softer as he continued to speak to you, “I will never find someone as perfect for me as you are, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me and every girl that I meet I think to myself that no one is as perfect for me than you.”

Your eyes dropped as his hand gently rested on top of yours, “Everything will be okay, just trust in what we have, trust in our past. I’m not leaving you, not now, not ever. I love you.”

Allowing those words to sink in you turned towards him and lifted your hand cupping his face sweetly before pressing a loving kiss onto his lips. A tear streamed down your cheek while you lifted up one of your hands and cradled his cheek in your palm. With his hands slowly moving across your arm and down your back, finally resting on your hip he tilted his head slightly more as his lips continued to dance with yours. Taking away all of your doubts, one by one, your hand dropped down his neck and rested on his chest. Gripping the fabric of his shirt slightly, his hand brushed over your cheek before sliding to the nape of your neck. His fingers spread out while you leaned into his heart fluttering touch.

“Trust me, okay? What we have is real and it isn’t going anywhere.” Wonho whispered once your lips parted from one another and your gorgeous eyes met with his. “It may take a little time, but what we work for will be worth it in the end, promise.”
