Iridescence is the tasteful answer to the more crass modern day dating app fad. Who goes on Tinder and Grindr anymore? Not only is the waiting game terrible, but the demographic isn’t for most people. Not to mention having to sift through all those profiles.... No thanks.

What say we cancel out all the formalities and give you two weeks with an attractive single just like yourself?

Well look no further. Iridescence is here to give you something to look forward to!
HOW IT WORKS
Apart from the usual Swipe-Right-To-Match-The-Potential-Person-Of-Your-Dreams function, Iridescence is unique for it's matchmaking games. Not into the game? That's okay, you may go ahead and use the app as you would Tinder. However, if you're the type who's terrible with first texts, if you're looking for some added fun or you're just ready to cut the bull for a sure-fire way to meeting more quality dates, Iridescence is definitely for you!

Matchmaking is done in two batches, starting the 1st and 16th of each month. Upon signing up, you will have the option to fill up a questionnaire that will help us narrow down the search for your perfect match. Your info will be thrown into a raffle and you will be paired with a member of Iridescence. The details of this will be sent to you via Iridescences’ bulletin board. Each dating match lasts for two weeks, during which you will be given tasks and challenges to complete as a couple. Upon completion, your match and you will be separated for 7 days, during which you will both decide if you want to continue to date. The matchmakers will then give you further instructions, where you will discover if there is hope for a romantic relationship beyond the borders of Iridescence.

RULES
Basics

01. Iridescence is a closed semi-literate We Are Dating AU role play, centered around character and relationship development. This roleplay is heavily plot based, so please ensure that you are comfortable with plotting before considering joining us.
02. You must be 17 or older to join, as this roleplay features mature themes/. We strictly do not condone serialization of minors.
03. All ualities and genders are allowed, but because of the matchmaking theme, we will require to moderate acceptances so as to limit the possibilities of having too many members without a match at any given time. We apologize in advance if we require to temporarily close applications for any gender/uality without warning due to the aforementioned.
04. Subscribing is mandatory, upvoting is much welcomed.

Conduct

05. This roleplay operates on a strike-based system. Failure to adhere to the rules stated here will result in strikes which we will place in a public list in the roleplay. This is not to shame anyone, but to ensure everyone keeps to the rules. This is also to remind you to either rectify the strike, or allow you to do something to clear it. Strikes will be cleared every six months, however, Accumulating a fourth strike within said six-month period will result in your immediate removal from this roleplay.
06. This is a CLOSED RP. Do not add people outside of the roleplay. Admins will be checking intermittently.
07. Welcome every newcomer! It gets overwhelming when everybody already has their cliques and we’d like for Iridescence to be a home to everyone.
08. We also will not tolerate cliques and members who only roleplay with their significant others. If this comes to the admins attention, you will be given two warnings before a strike is issued.
09. We allow unlimited character changes. We only request that you keep each face claim for a minimum of 2 weeks. Choose wisely, darlings.
10. Semi-hiatus is allowed for a maximum of 2 months and full hiatus is allowed for 1 month. Any extensions can be discussed with admins. Admins must be notified of hiatus or your inactivity could be counted as cause for a strike/removal from the roleplay.
11. Double accounts are allowed as long as you let the admins know who your first character is. All OOC information is kept confidential.
12. Activity is required at least twice a week. This will be based off replies to threads or being active in groups, changing of display pictures does not count as activity! Inactivity can result in a warning and furthermore a strike.
13. Due to the nature of this roleplay, we will not be accepting moving couples.

Etiquette

14. No face-chasing or relationship-chasing. The admins reserve the right to pair any members together. Requests to be paired up with any specific muse will not be tolerated, unless you have been in the roleplay for at least 2 months and have no partner.
15. OOC drama is strictly not tolerated. Admins are happy to settle any issues to the best of our ability. Drama IC is allowed as long as it’s run by admins. Any drama that escalates from IC to OOC will be put to a stop. If we say it’s not allowed, DO NOT continue with it.
16. Strictly no godmodding/metagaming. P4ssw0rd is your favourite song.
17. Please attach trigger warnings to the top of any thread that includes sensitive content. That being , horror/gore, etc.
18. Please be respectful toward all members and admins. Iridescence strives to be a role play where everyone can feel comfortable. The admins may seem intimidating but I promise we’re all dorks at heart, feel free to approach us for anything! Just need a friend? Need help with your chara? We’re here to help c:

IC

19. As this roleplay is heavily focused on plotting and writing, we require a character note. It can be simple with basic facts and a short synopsis of your persona or a detailed backstory. Any questions? Feel free to message admins for help.
20. This is a semi- rp. Images of graphic material are strictly not allowed! is allowed only on walls, under a cut or in the AU group. Though we are a semi-literate rp, the city group is 3rd pov para only. More lax writing can be done on walls/AU group.
21. Whether or not you have been matched/coupled, please remember that other members of the roleplay exist. You are required to interact with more than just your significant other/match.
22. Random challenges may also be issued to all members registered with the app, regardless of marital status to promote activity within the roleplay.
23. Pregnancy/M-Preg is strictly not allowed.
24. Members who match with others on their own through the Iridescence App, without the help of the matchmaking game, may only achieve status as a couple after both members have been in the roleplay for one month.
25. Marriage is only allowed if the couple has proven activity and has been in a relationship for at least three months.

as a young professional photographer he'd been traveling the world his whole life. his mother a stay at home mom while his father was a well known travel agent. taehyung never had time for love even when he really wanted to. he wouldn't have enough time. so he focused on the only thing he knew he could love: phototgraphy.

the app was recommended by the son of his father's partner who came over for dinner one night. taehyung was leaving for Germany the next morning so he immediately denied.

yet as he walked around dublin at 9 pm sharp he realized how lonely he actually was. Sure he had tried tinder while he was in tokyo but all they wanted was or to just give him head.

he didn't want just that he wanted connection. maybe it was time to find something serious, to know what love between humans can give.

his finger taps gently and the app brightens his eyes with a shock. it wasn't just him, hundreds had to be on here. his lungs felt like they could breathe and now it was 12 a.m. he plopped himself on the hotel bed; heart pounding and a smile on his face.

As an amateur businesswoman who only cared about getting more sales, sales and sales, Nayoung was not one for love. Despite her young age, she believed in only what was realistic. However, her nosy friend had persistently forced her to download this strange matchmaking app called Iridescence, claiming that "she needed to get to know some guys before she died due to old age, sad and alone with no one to love", and so she ended up in... this situation. The girl frowned as she stared at the foreign app icon on her phone. She recalled using a matchmaking app called Tinder before out of curiosity. The waiting times were endless and being the impatient girl she was, she couldn't stand having to wait. She sure hoped this app would be a bit better than that, or she would simply cast this app into the trashbin.

She clicked the icon, filled in her particulars and the usual things. What caught her attention was the additional feature 'games'. Games. That certainly wasn't in Tinder before. And how long had it been since she played silly games with her friends, just chattering and laughing away as if there were no worries ahead of her, anyway? It seemed like it was only a memory of the past. Her lips curled into a wry smile. A businesswoman had no time for love or games, but she did want to try. Hopefully, it wouldn't disappoint her this time.

Youngjae was as bright as the sun on a glazing day, his laugh was as melodious as your favorite song yet the poor boy could never score someone who he’d been content with. He was no stranger to love, however, he didn't have the best luck in the world of love. It was the same repetitive lies from his partners and at one point, he even wondered why he kept trying to go at it but he realized one day that it was nothing more than a feeling of desire; it was just like starving yourself and you needed more food to live - that's how he defined love.

It was predictable. Of course, he was going to download a dating app. Why? Simply because he’s laid face down on his bed with quiet music filling the empty air in the background and there’s not a thing to do. He was bored, lonely, and unamused so this was just for the heck of it. Upon installing the app into his device, he watched as the blue line raced in seconds to the end and when he heard the little notification that it was done, he found himself smiling again for an unknown reason. His lips formed into an ‘o’, a small gust of air lingering from his mouth and fogged up the clear screen in front of him.

“This is a good, uh, start! I think,” he murmurs busily, hovering his thumb over the ‘Open’ button.

Writing sample: He didn't need this. That's what he told himself anyway, denying that he needed this stupid app more than ever even though his little brother was just playing a prank on him. Despite his brother looking over his shoulder, waiting for the little app that represented a joke in his eyes to be deleted, Jongseok didn't do a thing to it. He just swatted the younger away angrily and commanded he go back home to their mother and father. Jongseok sighed after he watched his brother scurry out of the apartment and continued to stare at the app.

He didn't want to believe he needed the app but he opened it up anyway and signed up. It seemed simple enough and there was no way something could go wrong this way. It was like Tinder, minus the getting drunk enough to have with someone he didn't know. Plus, a partner in these piles of acting and modeling stress would be good for him, right? He was good looking so that wouldn't be a problem, right? It didn't matter about the fact he was sort of awkward, /right/? After a few hesitant taps to his phone and a lot of moments of second guessing himself, he finally applied and immediately grew nervous even though he had no reason to do so. It'd be fine. He needed this. Jongseok nodded as he muttered the words, "I need this." He wiped his sweaty, shaking hands on his sweatpants and got up from his seat on the bed. He strolled to his kitchen's coffee machine to add hot chocolate powder, crushed mint, and a few drops of mint oil to the top. "Right?"

Writing sample: Soft-spoken shyness was the embodiment of Jiwoo’s personality, and the awkward secretive shame that she had in making a profile for a match-making application was enough to keep the gesture hidden from her fellow members. They were a co-ed group, in fact, but she had shunned the idea of dating JSeph and Matthew. The pad of her thumb fluttered over the screen of her phone, and she bit down on her lower lip with slow hesitation. She wouldn’t do this, right? They were a new group. She should be focusing on working hard to boost their popularity. The 21 year old couldn’t quite recall the last time she’d had a lasting relationship and had fallen in love -a feat that had proven hard for her for years.

And now, she wanted to be reminded what the feeling was like. Being loved and touched. Being so disgustingly sweet with someone and not having to pretend to be wonder woman-so superhuman that such desires never affected her. She’d thought about it being ridiculous, and even more when she flinched at the sound of Matthew’s confidence voice asking her a question from where he stood. Why did she feel like she was about to partake in something so scandalous? It was just dating, right? Letting out an exhale of a reply, she tapped her finger against the screen to confirm the submission of her profile, and gave Matthew an almost smile of betrayal.

There was no way she was going to tell them. She was going to take this to her grave, because she knew she would never live it down.

Writing Sample: Always putting his career and family above his own health and well-being, Minhyuk never understood the true meaning of “self-care.” It was astonishing how he managed to take care of himself thus far. Though somehow, he managed to have long hair—brown with a reddish tint, to be exact. The hair flowed down, usually poking down over his brown eyes—soft but filled with compassion and brightness approximately 98% of the time. This face was a bit on the skinnier side with prominent cheek bones, only masked by his cheeks when he smiled wide. Some say his smile was resonant with sunshine, but he found it too revealing of his teeth with immense spaces in between.
Minhyuk never thought he’d be this desperate to apply for a matchmaking service. Yet here he is, at 23 years old, wanting to be paired up to the supposed love of his life. Nothing to lose, right? Filling out the application, Minhyuk had finally decided that it was time to put himself first—before everybody else as he usually does. Hopefully Iridescence would be the answer to this one aspect of his rather solitary life.
