Ryeowook was beyond excited. For the last year, he’d been going to wedding planning events waiting to run into Kyuhyun with no luck, but tonight was the night of the bachelor’s party—which Eunhyuk’s best man had put himself in charge of organizing—and there would be nothing keeping Ryeowook from finally meeting the alpha face to face finally.
He’d spent all day at the spa, getting ready for their first meeting. His outfit was bought a month ago and had hung in his closet since, waiting for its debut. He spent over an hour styling his newly dyed hair. He looked absolutely stunning. It even put to shame that measly attempt he’d made for his first failed date with Kyuhyun, two years ago.
Eunhyuk’s brows rose the moment he saw the little omega walk up to them, smirking. “I’m ready for our night of depravity!”
“Yeah, you are! Kyuhyun’s going to be pissed he missed it, too!”
The smile fell from Ryeowook’s face. “What do you mean, he’s going to be pissed he missed it?”
“His work called him in on an emergency!”
“What?” Ryeowook shouted in frustration. “He’s not coming?”
Donghae shook his head. “Afraid not.”
Ryeowook actually growled, he was so mad.
“But we’re going to have to get pictures of you and post it all over Twitter so he can see what the hell he’s missing out on,” Donghae said, wrapping his arm around the little omega and snapping a picture of them.
“We’ll have to get you drunk enough to start stripping and record it too,” Heechul said. “If nothing will give him regrets, missing out on a Wook will.”
Ryeowook was too depressed to keep up with the rest of them drinking and was quickly reassigned as the designated driver so that Leeteuk could indulge a little at the bars as well. He didn’t feel like dancing, he didn’t feel like singing, he didn’t feel like drinking…but he sure as hell videoed everyone else and took a bunch of incriminating pictures because it would be good blackmail for him later on when he needed it someday.
“It’s so sad that Kyuhyun had to miss this,” Sungmin said, completely wasted. He never got out to drink, since the birth of his first litter, so Ryeowook felt it was justified if he got a little drunk and enjoyed himself. “What happened again? Is it because it’s the anniversary of his father’s death in a few days?”
Donghae slapped a hand over Sungmin’s mouth. “We should dance, Min! Let’s dance some more!” he insisted, dragging Sungmin out to the dance floor with him.
Ryeowook looked around the table, eyes wide. Even if no one else had mentioned it, Ryeowook remembered that tomorrow was the anniversary of the day that Kyuhyun had stood him up, two years prior. Could it be? Had Kyuhyun’s father passed away around that time?
“How long ago did Kyuhyun’s father pass away?”
“I want to dance too!” Heechul informed Leeteuk, grabbing his arm and pulling him out to the dance floor, leaving just him and Eunhyuk. But Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk were the best of friends. If no one else was willing to answer Ryeowook’s questions, surely Eunhyuk would be even less likely to. But he had to try.
“Hyuk?”
Eunhyuk took a deep breath and leaned forward to speak over the music. “Kyuhyun’s father committed suicide the day he was supposed to meet you for your blind date, two years ago. They tried to revive him in the hospital, but he passed away two days later. He never wanted me to tell you about his father.”
Ryeowook was stunned, realizing that Kyuhyun had always had a legitimate reason for not meeting him. “Why are you telling me this now?”
“Because Kyuhyun’s one of my best friends in the whole world…and I want to see him happy.”
“You think we belong together?”
Eunhyuk looked out onto the dance floor, watching his future husband and mate dancing circles around Sungmin, twirling the drunken alpha around and around until he looked pale and sick. Eunhyuk would walk out there in a minute and save him, but mostly because he wanted to ho
