1. Radix Malorum est Cupiditas

Altera

"Greed is the root of evil"

"Wow, I knew it! You two really are made for each other! The two most popular girl and boy from high school are totally made for each other."

Jongin tried to listen as an old classmate - Hanmi? Hyemi? Somi? - continued to ramble on. Jongin put on a smile and chuckled when he heard his wife laughed. He didn't exactly understand why, but it seemed right to do that then. He's still not sure. But seeing the classmate's expression when he did, he was grateful that he noticed his wife's laugh.

"I know, right. I think we really are just made for each other. Marrying Jongin is the best decision I've ever made. I mean, I couldn't wish for a more perfect marriage than this," his wife, Soojung, said as she smiled so widely and cling her arms around Jongin's. The way she talked, she looked like the happiest woman on earth, and Jongin thought that it might be true. Okay, it should be true, because why wouldn't you be happy being tied for a lifetime with the Kim Jongin.

As egocentric as Jongin is.

It was a reunion party for his highschool. His and Soojung's actually. Yes, they were highschool sweethearts. That is probably why they were the center of attention at this party. Them and their little princess, who was skipping happily in her pink designer dress, collecting the hearts of his highschool friends with her adorableness.

And as he observed the whole room, filled with his friends and their partners, he thought again about his life.

Kim Jongin has a perfect life, to say the least. He has a beautiful, 4 months pregnant-wife next to him, an adorable little princess, and a prefect job with a very satisfying income. He lives a lavish, supposedly-happy life. But everytime he tuck his daughter in or watched his wife sleeping beside him, he couldn't help but asked, what was missing. And everytime, he couldn't find any answer. But he knew, deep down, that something wasn't right. Something was missing. And that something didn't belong there.

"Daddy!" he turned around and saw his daughter, Kim Sooah, running towards him in her princess-like red dress. Her small feet taking fast small steps towards him in her little pink shoes. He greeted her with a big smile, sincere smile, and took her in his arms. "May I have some ice cream? Just a little tiny bit," she said, trying to convince her daddy.

"Okay, just a little tiny bit. But you have to drink a lot of water after that, okay?" Jongin said, still smiling. Beside, who could resist the adorableness of the little princess of the Kim family? No one, except her mommy. Which is why, Sooah asked her daddy instead of her mommy. Smart girl.

Sooah throwed her arms around her daddy's neck and leaned in to kiss her daddy's cheek. "Yes! Thank you, Daddy. You're the best! I love you so so much!" she said before running off to the ice cream stand.

"Honey," Jongin turned towards his wife who was staring at him with a scolding look.

He looked at her with a giant grin, trying to go for an innocent plea. "What?" He approached his pregnant wife and hug her from behind, the way she likes. "You look really beautiful in that dress, honey," he said. It was true. Soojung looked extremly beautiful in the Valentino red dress and the fact that she was pregnant made her glowed. Only blind people would say that she's not pretty.

"No ice cream for Sooah and Jongin for one week," Soojung said while turning her head around to kiss her husband's lips.

"But honey...!"

Yeah, it's a perfect life... right?
