Free Verse: This Accursed Fate

This Accursed Fate

This Accursed Fate

I was lost in the sea of nameless faces
Desperate was I to find a boat
I sought and sought, but found no graces
Instead a storm, and took me away without a note

Then one day, I found you
In the same boat as I
Ironic, is it not? That the day went anew
When we heard each other's tireless cries

The storm ceased
The rain froze
The waves calmed
And the sea hummed

Birds in the sky
The sun at the side
Rising beneath the waves
Nevermore to the heavens a slave

Among the crowd you were odd
You, who had a face and a name
Who had a heart and a warm facade
In you do I find no shame

But those words I shortly regret
Like fire you burn my being
Even though it's hard to forget
I have to let you go

I really thought you were "the one"
The one to save me from this unwanted sea
Turned out you were not the answer
My savior I have yet to see

Instantly I was back again
In the lonely sea, under the raging storm
My hatred to the sky I complain
Since I, myself, am sick to conform

My fury, my anger
Unto the sea I pour out
To the sky I point my finger
My mind nevermore knows doubt

Where would my years go
My youth, its doom awaits
Still I am stuck in the earth below
All because of this damned, accursed fate
