“I was wondering if you wanted to be my friend?”

“It’s okay if you don’t wanna be, I’m weird” the brunette apologised.

“No it’s not that, it’s just no one has ever really asked me to be their friend before, I don’t see why you’d wanna be my friend” Minhyuk explained as he looked down into the water below.

A warm hand grabbed his.

“Of course I wanna be your friend, you’re the first kid like me I’ve seen here and you seem super cool” the boy in front of him smiled.

Hyungwon released Minhyuk’s hand from his grip since he could tell the boy seemed uncomfortable.

“I’m Hyungwon nice to meet you!” Hyungwon grinned.

“Oh, I’m Minhyuk, nice to meet you too” he answered as he raised his gaze back up to the boy’s face to see he still hadn’t stopped smiling.

A little too excitedly the boy beamed “Minhyuk? That’s such a cool name!”

“You think so?” Minhyuk replied blankly.

“Yeah it’s so cool! I’ve never met a Minhyuk before!” Hyungwon asserted.

“Thanks I guess” the pale boy managed to give a little smile.

“I still can’t believe that you’re not a traveller just passing by and that you’re actually living here” he admitted.

Before he had to chance to continue the boy grabbed his hand again and began leading him across the bridge and back to the village.

“I’ll prove it to you! Come with me” Hyungwon laughed whilst dragging his new friend behind him.

Minhyuk could barely believe his eyes when he found himself standing outside the old church cottage, it was covered in cobwebs and most of the windows were smashed in.

“It’s a mess I know” Hyungwon apologised.

“Nah it’s not that, it just needs some cleaning up” Minhyuk admitted “the thing is, no one has lived here for over fifty years, only priests can live here next to the church so that must mean…”

“Mean what?” Hyungwon queried.

“You must be the priest’s son” he stated.

“Haha yeah I am, is it that big of a deal?” the dark cocoa haired boy chuckled.

“Yes it is!” Minhyuk confirmed “priests here are almost like kings”

“Woah that’s so cool, you should be bowing down and calling me your highness then” Hyungwon joked.

Minhyuk chuckled and bowed down “Yes your majesty”

As the two boys were laughing about their silly little joke a man walked out of the house.

“Hyung- oh who are you?” the man looked down at the white haired boy in front of him.

This must be Hyungwon’s father, the priest. I must make a good first impression.

“I’m Minhyuk nice to meet you sir, I assume you’re the priest here?”

The man smiled, it was obvious he was related to Hyungwon as they had the same smile “Yes I am, I see you’ve met with my son Hyungwon already, I hope he’s behaving”

Minhyuk nodded “Oh yes he’s very kind and polite to me, no problem to me at all sir”

“That’s good to hear, I hope it stays that way” the priest answered “perhaps you’d like to come inside? I’m sure you’ve heard of my famous tea brew before. We haven’t moved the furniture in yet or cleaned up all the rooms but the kitchen is functioning properly so I should be able to make something”

“I’d love that, if it’s okay with you both of course” Minhyuk smiled shyly.

“Of course it is, any friend of Hyungwon is welcome here” the priest confirmed.

“Come on Minhyuk let’s go inside!” Hyungwon cheered happily.
