Rant on Roleplayers

Description

Here are a list of things that annoy the heck out of me about the current roleplay world.

  1. Trolls. ing trolls. Let me elaborate: I don't dislike the actual person but what they do. It is called a "roleplay" for a reason. Why does trolling even occur? Sure, it was hilarious at first but now it's just plain annoying. The chain letters, the movie scripts and the illiterate way of writing which mocks the old-fashioned roleplayers.  Trolls are the biggest annoyance for me. I can't roleplay properly with people making jokes out of every little thing.
  2. This ^ sort of makes me miss the old roleplay world. Yes, we were so messy but at least people roleplayed properly (which is what we're here for?) and didn't cause drama over unnecessary .
  3. People joining roleplays only to advertise their freelances. Joining for one day and then leaving the next day with your FL account in your bio, nice.
  4. Admins who put up countdown threads but don't bother to open their roleplay. This is especially the case in twitterroleplays where the whole damn page is literally "C/S".
  5. PEOPLE WHO ING COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO FIT IN BUT DO NOT MAKE AN EFFORT TO SOCIALISE THEMSELVES. NO ONE IS GOING TO BOW DOWN AT YOUR FEET. YOU NEED TO MAKE AN EFFORT, REGARDLESS OF BEING A NEWCOMER OR NOT.
  6. Selective roleplays. Something that has never changed but anywhos.
  7. Trolls.
  8. OOC or FL drama in roleplays. :) off.

!! PEOPLE WHO VIEW ROLEPLAYS AS COMPETITIONS !!  i felt like this needed to be seperate as this is such a pet peeve of mine. who cares which roleplay is more popular or not? what matters is how comfortable your members feel in your roleplay!

There's my list. Feel free to get butthurt or add more, don't care.

Totally agree with what you said up there! I struggle so much for like the past two years or something as a literate writer because it seems like almost everyone can't type properly now.

For #1, I don't really enjoy roleplaying all that much now and it is definitely such a challenge to find roleplays which are decent enough for me. Roleplays should just be what they are. ROLEPLAYS. It's already ty enough that roleplays have to state whether they are literate or not. It's sad that there are "roleplays" out there that are made just for the "aesthetic & chill" vibe and members talk ooc all the damn time. And such roleplays don't last anyway. It's pointless.

Out of so many roleplays on this site, it feels like finding a decent place is like finding a needle in a haystack. These trolling thing is ruining the fun of roleplaying.

I also agree with #4 where roleplays gather reservations or put up countdown timers but the roleplay never happened anyway. It ended before it could begin :/

Damn, I agree on all of this, particularly point 1, 5, and 8.

When I first joined twitterrps, I tried to maintain the level of literacy I found acceptable from Tumblr and forum roleplaying, but quickly realized no one else bothered at all. They chose a face to wear, and continued to behave the same way they do in their fl or irl. What's the point of rping if you're not going to do it properly?

I'm an admin in a pretty big rp, and we had this huge problem with people asking to be unverified after a few days because they didn't feel like they fit in. Like, yes, it's a big group, but if you put forth an effort to join in the discussion instead of saying hi and disappearing, or complaining that you didn't know what was going on every time without actually bothering to read the tweets, then I'm sorry I can't help you. When did people think that holding a conversation, or making friends was easy if you're never around and only complain?

And just. Why is it necessary to complain on fl about something happening in an rp, instead of taking it up with an admin? Why is it necessary to give that rp a bad name without even trying? SIGHS

I join literate rps so I don't really have to deal with number 1, but they get the opposite with tryhards who rp like they're writing 18th century novels and using words they clearly got from a thesaurus and one of their comments alone takes up 2 whole pages. pls just rp comfortably you're not impressing anyone... it just makes me want to give u a one liner with bad grammar just to piss u off.

Just gonna add one more thing. Roleplayers who choose whom to talk to. SERIOUSLY. It's not just annoying but it kinda makes me anxious, god. I don't even know who really wants to talk to me sometimes.
