"You have been pleaded guilty. Do you accept... or do you deny?"

I look up.

"Your honor, before I answer that question, would you mind if I told you a little story?"

"I'm sorry? Did you say you want to tell a story, Mr. Kim?"

"Yes. Only a story sir."

"...can you guarantee it won't take long Mr. Kim?"

"No, I can not."

The jury all sigh in chorus. The judge shows a glint of curiousity in his eyes.

"You may proceed."

"Before I begin, I would like to make one request."

"And what would that be?"

"My only request is to not interrupt me while I am speaking. If there are questions, I formally ask to please write them down and question me after I am finished."

"Request accepted. Please, do begin."

I take a deep breath.
