Being in love with your best friend is pain. Especially , when your best friend knows about it. And that’s what happen to Hong Jisoo.

I love him , my best friend. His name is Kim Mingyu. We became best friend since I moved from Los Angeles to Korea , three years ago. I like being friend with him because of his bright and lively personalities. But , this past few months I started to have this feeling of liking him more than a friend. My heart beats fast when he neared me. I got myself blushed when he say something good about me or when he complimented me. I even got myself looked great to match his level so that we will looked great together.

I saw him walking into our class. I flashed a smile at him. So does him. He sat at his usual place , which is beside me. ‘Jisoo.’ He called me. I turned my head to his direction and raised my eyebrows. ‘Emm…why?’ I gulped when he leaned his face a little towards me , looking all serious. Something happen? ‘I’m wondering if those rumour turn out to be true.’ I furrowed my eyebrows. ‘What rumour?’ He looked at me. ‘That you like…me?’ I frowned. ‘How…did you know about…that? Wait. I mean…’ I sighed heavily.

‘It’s true. There’s no use to hide anymore. Someday , you’ll know anyway.’ I glanced at his face. He was frowning and looking confused. I sighed , again. I lowered my head , avoiding his look. You’re pathetic , Hong Jisoo. I hate you , Hong Jisoo. ‘Look , Jisoo. It’s not like I hate you but , I mean…we’re best friend. So , just act like I never knew about this. You can find someone better than me in college , though. Right? Can you do that…for me?’ Act like he never knew about this?

I took a deep breath. I’m really trying my best to avoid any tears escape my eyes. I nodded lightly but still kept my gazes at my desk. ‘Sure. Anything for you.’ He patted my head. ‘You’re the best , Jisoo. That’s why you’re my best friend.’ Hahaha…yeah , best friend. I kept my head lowered until the teacher called me. ‘Mr. Hong? Anything’s wrong?’ I gulped before took a deep breath. I raised my head and nodded. ‘Yes. I’m feeling dizzy. Can I rest at the infirmary?’ Please teacher… ‘Sure. Go on. Can you go there on your own?’ I nodded. I thanked the teacher before walking out from the class.

I walked into the rooftop. Yes , rooftop. I’m not that stupid to go to the infirmary. There’s a nurse though. I lay down on the floor , staring at the cloudy sky. I blinked my eyes rapidly to avoid myself from crying but fail. I just let the tears flowed out from my eyes. A drop. I touched my forehead. Rain? Drop. Yeah , it’s raining. Great. God knows how I feel. The rain poured down hardly making me drenched. I sobbed hard , letting all my frustrations out. God , let this be the last time.

And for two days , I’m absence from school for having a fever.

Jisoo walked into our class. He looked weak when he walked to his desk , which is beside me. He put down his bag on the desk before sitting down. He leaned his head on the bag and face towards the windows on his left. I cleared my throat before patted his shoulder. ‘Are you okay? I heard you’re having a fever.’ I heard him sighed. ‘Emmm…I’m okay.’ I felt relieved. ‘Sorry for not coming. I’m in Jeju for two days. Visiting my cousin , Seungkwan? I’ve told you about him.’ He just nodded. Is he mad at me?

I cleared my throat. ‘Jisoo , are you mad at me? Because of…’ I stopped asking when he looked at me abruptly. He raised his head. ‘No. I’m not. I’m just tired. Stop asking me questions.’ He said emotionlessly. ‘Teacher’s here. Focus
