Guardian Angel
They both looked at each other and they were both confused about where the melody was coming from, but it was there and they could both hear it. It was like watching a drama and all of a sudden there's a song in the back. They both tried to brush it off and get back to the real world, but no luck there.
There was no point in lying so Jong Suk decided to tell her the truth related to his father. He held both of her hands and took a deep breath. It was harder done than said. She just looked at him, and waited, as if she was waiting for this.
"That's my father... I honestly don't know how to explain this and not sound crazy..." he said and looked down at his hands.
She gently rubbed his cheek and smiled.
"I won't run away." She smiled lightly as if she knew exactly what went through his mind.
He nodded his head and closed his eyes for a second.
"It will sound strange, but you and I know each other since childhood. Your father and mine have been best friends and our families were very close.. or they used to be." He paused for a moment before he continued.
Haneul listened carefully to him.
"Your father worked together with my father and at that time they were working on a project. Sadly my father played dirty and your father figured it out." He then added.
He was afraid of her reaction and he wasn't brave enough to look up at her. She tried to put the puzzle together but so many pieces were missing that it was annoying her a bit at this point. She decided to ask what else he knows and he told her about the hideout and what was done there. At that point, she found out that she was also a part of it. At least now she understood why she freaked out when she saw that person.
Jong Suk also mentioned that Ji Chang, Ji Hoon, and her all hung out as kids and that they have known each other for a long time. He explained to her that there was much more than meets the eye but for now this is all he can say. He also warned her to stay away from his father and to always be careful and to pay attention if she's alone on the street.
"I'm sorry.." She finally said.
"For what?" He finally looked up at her.
"For not remembering you or my childhood for that matter... I guess it's hard for you... but how close were we?" She asked.
"Now that is something you need to find on your own. You'll find the answer deep inside." He said.
"Oh... I'll try my best... but how can you trust me?" She looked at her hands.
"I know you well, besides even if you don't accept it or me, it's okay. I will let you go." He said.
At those words, her heart skipped a beat. Those words sounded heartbreaking and she didn't want that to happen. He needed to remember him. She just couldn't imagine him gone
"I'm sorry that I poured so much information at once... do you want me to leave?" He asked and stood up.
At that moment she hugged his arm and shook her head.
"Stay. Please." She said.
He nodded his head and gently rubbed her cheek with her other free hand. He then sat back down and the two of them thought about their next move. It was all a big puzzle for her, but she understood that it was a dangerous situation. So for now they both figured the best thing to do is move. She planned to go back to the house but before that, she needed to meet her parents and have a talk with them.
Now she got even more curious about that room in the basement, and she felt that there was something there that could help her figure out her past. She also knew that it will be a difficult task to do considering that she already knows what her parents will say and if she continues asking it might turn into an argument. But she didn't care, now she really wanted to know.
"I was thinking..." She said and looked at him.
"About what?" He replied.
"For now the only hideout we have is the house where I grew up." She said.
"We?" He looked at her.
Of course, he was aware of what she meant by that, but he wanted to hear it come from . She quickly looked at him and blushed.
"Indeed, I don't have my memories back, but I can see that the situation is dangerous and I don't want you or the guys to be in danger." She paused and looked at her hands. "There are enough rooms in the house for all of u
