Intro

“Hey, guess what?”

“What?”

“C’mon, guess! You’re supposed to guess.”

A girl with jet black hair pouts and plops down in her seat, the multiple key chains dangling from the zips of her school bag jingling in unison as she carelessly drops her bag onto the ground. She turns to greet the bespectacled boy sitting behind her with a flirtatious smile before turning back to her seatmate, the pout on her face returning back full force. Her seatmate flicks her bangs out of her eyes and side-eyes the noirette, giving a little sigh when her friend waves her hand in a ‘go on’ gesture. She reckons she might as well entertain her.

“It’s free lunch day?”

“Nope.”

The girl tries again. “All exams are hereby cancelled?”

“In your dreams, maybe.”

“Well, what is it, then?”

“You’ll never believe it, but—“

And so the girl prattles on with the latest news spurned by the rumor mill. Unfortunately, she’s not the main character of this story, oh no. Neither is the seatmate, nor the boy sitting a few rows down, looking as if he’s about to fall asleep. It’s not the short-haired girl silently sitting by the window on the far right with earpieces stuck in her ears, either.

A girl wearing a red jacket is seen sitting at the very back of a classroom with more empty seats than occupied ones. With brown hair mercilessly pulled up in a messy ponytail, a rather roughly chiseled face (for a girl), she may not be considered as pretty by many. Her deep set eyes, strong eyebrows, aquiline nose and determined looking chin makes her appear grim and serious all the time, as if her face is incapable of smiling.

And this, ladies and gentleman, is the main character. She is Bang Yongguk, aged seventeen, a junior at TS High School. Commonly referred to as ‘The female Bbang’ or ‘Bang Yongnam’s sister… yeah man, apparently they’re twins’, she’s also rather known as the girl who is skilled at punching… or just hitting people in general, really.

On any normal day, Yongguk would either still be fully or half-asleep, with a small trail of drool running down her slightly opened mouth. But today, instead of napping with her head buried down on the table, she is wide awake, sitting up with her back slouched with a hand propped up to support her chin.

Currently, she’s eyeing her seatmate, who’s sitting with his chair titled back and balancing on its hind legs. His feet are propped up on the table, and his hands cushion the back of his neck, giving off the impression of a lazy slacker— although one might consider revising that impression after a glance at the mischievous and rather dangerous quirk to his mouth. Coupled with the sight of his cat-like eyes, one does have the right to feel a little wary when around him, even if the effect might be slightly downsized by the size of his nose. But not by much.

His name is Woo Jiho, but most people just call him “Zico”. He’s known as Yongguk’s best mate since they’re constantly seen together (often with the addition of a tall, pink-haired freshman named Choi Junhong), and is rumored to have connections with shady people with shady motives in shady places-- something which he doesn't deny.

Cue a scene change to three classes down (or up, depending which side of the hallway you’re looking from) to Class 3-B, whose classroom has less empty seats in comparison to class 3-E, and filled with mindless chatter. Here we have a blonde-haired male with broad shoulders, who’s lounging in a chair and is laughing along with the little group around him.

Blondie here is called Kim Himchan, recently returned to Korea after four years of living in America. To say the least, Himchan is a good looking guy. Angular face, with narrow eyes, narrow nose, and a set of delicate lips, he’s very attractive. But that’s not all part of his appeal— a charming personality to go with his looks, confident smirks, witty comebacks and general friendly playfulness has made him well liked among his classmates. So, really, it’s no surprise that the boys have started referring to him as one of their ‘bros’, and that there are a more than a few girls whose cheeks tinge red when he smiles at them.

And there we have it, the three main characters of this story: Bang Yongguk, Woo Jiho, and Kim Himchan. One girl, two boys, and a whole mess of feelings and appalling discoveries. Worry not, for this isn’t a story about love triangles and ‘oh no who should I choose’, but a story about changes— both big and small, obvious and subtle— that has happened in their lives.

But this story of theirs doesn’t begin in separate classrooms 3-B and 3-E; it had begun way back, years ago, when all three of them were still mere midgets... but this story starts in the middle of their lives, wherein feelings are in their prime of running rampant and fists recklessly fly. Because, as we shall say: Hearts fly, but so do fists.

Drug's getting to you, Zico. No way in hell we're siblings. Just- just no.

No way."
