A Slice of Happiness
It’s getting hotter. He knew it by the warm feeling on his side where the curtain had been drawn to reveal clear, sunny sky. The sudden blaring sound of alarm as it went off had woken up two figures sleeping in the bedroom. There were groans of annoyance as hand shot out to blindly turn the alarm off. Kris peeked through the crack of his eyes, squinting to see the culprit who had put another additional weight right on his face. There was a small foot laid across his nose, whilst the other laid on his chest. Grunting, he moved the bony foot away from his face to his neck then rubbed his eyes to see the clock that read 6:31 am.
He noticed the absence of his wife who probably had woken up and was cooking their breakfast like a good wife and good mom she was. Even in his hazy mind he could sense the mouth-watering smell of the food all the way from the kitchen. This fully woke him up as his stomach grumbled from hunger.
Sitting up, the feet on his chest slid to his lap and he chuckled lowly, not wanting to wake his champion up yet. Carefully he pulled his son by the armpits, the boy immediately clung to him koala-style, despite still deep in his lalala-land.
Kris patted his back gently while walking out of the room with soft hum falling from his lips. He rocked the five year old in his arms as he felt him squirm, incoherent noise reached his ear and made him smile from the cuteness.
His wife, Amber, had her back them. She seemed busy stiring food inside a pan when they entered the kitchen, engrossed in her doing to notice their presence.
Kris approached her, holding back a smile when she eventually noticed them, a shock gasp left . He stole a quick kiss which earned him a pinch on his side for surprising her and kissing her without brushing his teeth first. The man she married six years ago grinned goofily at her and attempted for another attack, but Amber was fast and dodged away from his kissy face and puckered lips. He puffed his cheeks at his unsuccesful attempt while his wife laughed soundlessly, so much for a good wife. When she came down from her mirth, Kris nudged her shoulder and motioned at their sleeping son with his chin.
“Asleep?” Amber mouthed, placing the spoon aside then turning off the stove. She wiped her hands with her apron before taking their son from her husband’s embrace and to her arms, the boy stirred from his sleep as he jolted awake from the movement.
Amber smooched a big, wet kiss on his temple, “Morning baby boy.” Their son, Sehun, whined for being woken up, he nuzzled his mother’s neck, hiding his face.
“I’m gonna bathe him.” She informed her husband, rounding the table to fetch Sehun’s frozen banana inside the fridge. The boy cheered sleepily when his mother poked his neck with the cool fruit, his favorite.
“Bathe me later?” he suggested, but instead of an approval, Kris got a glare with the intensity of a thousand sun for asking that.

“Daddy?” Kris looked up to the source of his son’s voice. Putting the knife down, he grabbed a fork and stabbed at a slice of apple for Sehun who took it gingerly. “Thank you, Daddy.” He chirped.
Sehun was ready for school today, Amber always did the right work preparing him. Always so on time, always so immaculate. The boy took the seat across him, eating his apple with well table manner.
“Is that sweet?” he asked. A pair of widened eyes directed at him. Sehun grinned, eyes turned to half-moon shape. “Yes, Daddy. It tastes like honey. I like it!”
Kris cleared his throat, “That is, my son, the taste of daddy’s love. It’s so strong you can taste it in the food I’ve prepared for you, which is the apple. That is why it tastes nice, sweet like honey,”
Sehun, despite his young age, sensed something was wrong and eyed his father skeptically. “Dad, don’t lie. It’s barely seven in the morning.”
His father frowned, “That hurts, son. How dare you accuse your father of lying?” the brown haired boy scoffed at him, actually just scoffed at him, his father. The one who decided not to use that particular night and shot him along with his potential brothers and sisters to his mother’s fertilizable egg.
“Did you just scoff at me, young man?” he narrowed his eyes, getting up from his seat. Sehun squealed, laughing and spewing apologies as he jumped off his seat and scurried his way to the main bedroom where Amber was also getting ready to work .
Kris chuckled, following his son to their bedroom. A confused looking Amber greeted him as he peeked inside the room. He put his finger in front of his lips, gesturing his wife to keep silent as his eyes scanned the room. The boy was probably hiding in the bathroom.
“Mommy, is Daddy here?” Sehun’s muffled voice was heard from inside the bathroom like he had predicted earlier. Well, Sehun’s his son, remember?
Amber glanced at the bathroom’s door, then at him. Kris frantically made an ‘X’ sign with his hands, forbidding his wife to say a word. “Mommy?” Sehun calle
