Beautiful Liar

Beautiful Liar

Leo awoke with a scream. He had had that dream again. It wasn't really as scary as it was confusing, but it still left Leo feeling utterly uncomfortable. He clutched his arms around his torso as he tried desperately to get rid of the lingering feelings of despair and misery.

The problem wasn't her. She was always in the dream somehow, weather they were on a nice date or in a crazy fairy world, but she was smiling and laughing like always. No, the problem was the shadow. It crept slowly along the outline of his vision, faster and faster, until it devoured everything in pitch black darkness, and brought the horrible feelings with it. He remembered that this time he had seen her face right before the darkness swallowed her.

It had been a frozen mask of fear.

That's when he awoke.

He curled up into a ball on the bed, trying desperately to not remember. He is not stupid; he knows what these dreams mean. He is aware of the fact that what he is doing is wrong, he knows he should break up with her, he knows, but still he does nothing. Pretending is just so easy. She believes him so easily, and when he is with her, he can almost convince himself that he actually loves her.

No one but him knows of the lie. The beautifully crafted lie he build around himself over years and years, keeping the truth hidden with well thought out gestures and actions, so no one would suspect a thing. The pain grew dull, and even though he will always know that it is all wrong, it becomes easier and easier to forget.

The only times he is confronted with his lies is at times like these; at night, alone, woken by a nightmare. This is the only time he allows himself to writher in agony, and wish that his life did not have to be like this.

That night was worse for some reason.

That night the thought of just getting up and leave everything behind was more tempting than ever before. Just leaving his family, who would kill him if they knew, his friends, who would beat him up and laugh at him, and most importantly her, who would be way better off without him anyway. He didn’t think he could go on like that much longer. But he had to. He just had to!

Falling asleep again was never easy, but it took him at least an hour before he gave up trying that time. Starring at the sealing he willed himself to think of nothing what so ever, when something bright red in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He turned his head to the right and threw himself backwards with a shout of surprise.

In front of him stood the most handsome man he had ever seen.

Tall, lean, gorgeous in every aspect of the word, but with a clear aura of danger around him, a menacing grin and blazing red eyes.

But Leo wasn't afraid of him.

On the contrary he felt a sudden surge of desire in his stomach. He wanted the man. He wanted him more than he had ever wanted anything in his entire life.

He wanted to run his fingers down the smooth chest, wanted to get lost in those crimson eyes, wanted to seal those luscious lips with his own and never let go...

No...

No no no no NO!!!!! This could NOT be happening! This was exactly what he had fought to prevent in all those years! This was the very reason he had changed his name, becoming someone else, this was…

But wait... Why the was this man in his bedroom?!

"Wh-who are y-you?!" Leo choked out, clutching the bedsheets to prevent his shaking hands from reaching out. It was like this epitome of perfection who stood before him was magnetic. He practically needed to touch him. A low chuckle reached Leo's ears, and he felt like melting. What was happening? What was this?

"How did you get in?" Leo was proud that his voice didn't crack this time. However, he almost whimpered when the corner of the man's mouth turned up into the iest smirk he had ever seen.

And then he spoke in a low, growly voice that almost made Leo faint; "My dear Taekwoon, do you really believe I am human?"

Leo stared into the crimson eyes with the cat-like pupils and realized that he had been unbelievably stupid. This god-like creature could never be human. But still, he wasn't afraid. If anything it intrigued him even more, and even though he was fighting a bloody inner war, he managed to ask; "then what... what are you?"

This question seemed to humor the creature as he smiled down at Leo. "Come on Taekwoon. You know that"

And Leo realized that he was right.

”My demons” he said in a shaky voice. Another low chuckle.

“Partly correct. Your demons fed me and helped me grow stronger, and they are now a part of me. But I am no mere emotional, human-made imp. I am a full demon, though weakened by my many years on earth. I felt you from my hiding place, I felt your troubles and your inner turmoil, and your demons called out to me. And now, on this night, I am finally strong enough to show myself to you. I’ve waited a long time Taekwoon, but I’m finally here”

Suddenly Taekwoon couldn’t hold himself back anymore. Without a thought he sprang up from the bed and flung himself at the man before him, clinging to him like his life depended on it. He had no idea what came over him, he didn’t know what was going on, he just knew that he couldn’t hold back anymore, as he felt ten years of pent up frustration seeping into his desperate actions.

The same low chuckle reached his ears again, and he clung to the man even tighter as strong hands gripped his wrists. But no matter how hard he tried, the creature pried his hands of as if it was nothing, and held him out in an arm’s length. He struggled even though he knew it was futile.

“How lovely to see you still have some fight in you” the creature said in his low voice as he pinned Taekwoon with his gaze, and Taekwoon felt his body becoming limp in the other’s arms. He could do nothing, but for some reason he didn’t mind. For the first time in his life he felt completely safe.

“A part of me is a part of you Taekwoon. That is why you feel this way, and that is why I can control you to some extent. But no matter how much you want it, I will not touch you. Not yet at least.” Defying all logic, Taekwoon cared less about the demon being able to actually control him, and more about him not wanting to touch him.

“Why?!” he said frantically, determined to eliminate any reason the demon might have.

“Because” he answered “If I do so, you will betray a person who is very dear to you. Even though the emotional pain this will cause would be a feast for me, I do not need it, and I do not wish for you to suffer more than you already have. Besides this, it will disturb our spirits from fusing and cause damage to us both”

Taekwoon blinked. He didn’t understand a word and somewhere in the back of his mind his sanity was screaming at him, and he abruptly took a step back. He shook his head and laughed quietly at himself. This was insane. He should really stop watching TV before going to bed. This was one of the weirdest dreams he had ever had. The demon was watching him cautiously as he straightened his back and said “well this has been fun, but I really need to sleep now, even though this is quite uh… interesting, at it has been long since last time I had a lucid dream, but…”

“You’re not dreaming Taekwoon”

Leo did admit that this was one of the most realistic dreams he had ever had, but really now, how else could he explain the freaking DEMON in his bedroom? And not to mention, the still incredibly strong urge to just grab the man before him and never let go. Leo was just about to calmly explain to the creature that this was, indeed, a dream, when he stepped forwards and grabbed Leo’s forearm with his left hand, pinching it hard with his right. Leo let out a gasp of pain, starring at the now smirking man before him.

This was real.

But how could it be?

The demon used Leo’s silence to speak up again; “I felt connected to you right from the start. You are a very strong human, and with you as my mate I believe I can live forever. This is why I connected so strongly to you, and why you felt me even when I was not fully here. But you don’t have to worry; I can feed off of all strong emotions, so you no longer have to feel agony. Strong positive emotions is more than enough”

Taekwoon still didn’t understand anything, but as he starred into those deep eyes, he felt the sincerity radiating off the creature in waves. He couldn’t help but trust him.

“I can give you everything you always wanted; affection, protection, care, someone to trust completely. And you can give me those deliciously strong emotions, and everything could be perfect” The demon smiled at him as he reached up and Taekwoon’s cheek tenderly. He couldn’t help but lean into the touch. “This is insane” he mumbled, “I don’t even know your name”

“Ravi in the other realm, Wonshik in this, you decide” Taekwoon clutched the hand on his cheek as he felt his sanity slipping away once more. “Wonshik” he breathed and the demon beamed at him. “I knew you were the right choice. Now there is only one thing left to do” and his beam turned into another menacing grin as he turned around.

“No! Don’t leave me!” Taekwoon shouted, and without thinking he grabbed Wonshik’s arm and tried to hold him back. The demon turned back around and looked at him, and once again he felt himself grow weak under the gaze. “Any other spiritual connection you have, weather it is sincere or not, is a complication I have to get rid of to be able to stay with you”

It took a while before the words got through Taekwoon’s hazy brain, but when he realized what Wonshik had just said it was like a fog lifted from his eyes and he saw the creature for the first time. Beautiful, but dangerous. Deadly.

“NO!” He yelled, somehow regaining control of his body, and he threw himself on the other, not to hold him close this time, but to hold him back. “You can’t hurt her!” The demon froze, and narrowed his eyes. “But you do not love her.” “But I do!” Taekwoon answered desperately, “She’s like a sister to me! Please!” He knew he could never stop the demon if he decided to act, and he knew deep in his heart that he would still be with him no matter what he did. It was like he had always known he was going to meet Wonshik, and now that he finally had him he wouldn’t let go no matter what. But he also, somehow, knew what the demon was capable of.

Ravi looked into the pleading eyes of the human for a long time. “A sister you say?”

“Yes! She has been so good to me, she always listens, and she does not deserve this, please!” He had already brought her enough pain; he could not be responsible for even more.

“You will have to let her go Taekwoon. You cannot have us both. She disturbs our bond and, with the way things are between you, she brings you pain. It would be a lot easier if I just get rid of her.” But the human had made up his mind. He had known her for so long, and she had been nothing but kind to him. He could do this. She deserved so much more anyways.

“I will end things with her. Right now if I have to.” The demon contemplated this as he ran a hand down Taekwoon’s side. Weather he did it on purpose or not, Taekwoon didn’t know, but the shudder that went through him was like an earthquake, and he knew he could get through whatever might come as long as Wonshik was with him. It was like he had always known, but never realized until now.

“You have to make it clear to her that this is the end, she must know and accept that she can never have you and give up on you completely, before your spirit is clean enough to blend with mine” Wonshik said, taking a step back to bring some distance between him and this inviting human. He had waited for so long, and now that he was finally here and the human was so willing to mate with him, it was almost impossible to stay away. But if the female wasn’t removed it would damage the bond, and this would hurt both him and Taekwoon deeply. If he hadn’t grown so fond of the male over the years he would of just set off to find this girl and bring an end to her, but he felt the others desperation all the way into his core, and he just could say no to those gleaming eyes. He had seen it through the years, how strong and determined Taekwoon was. He had a weak spot for fierce souls.

“I will do it. I can do it if you’re there with me” Taekwoon said sternly, knowing it was true. He had known this man in less than an hour, and already he trusted him more than anyone, needed him more than he had ever needed anything before.

“Then let us go” Wonshik said, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the door. “What? Right now? But it’s the middle of the night!” “Will she let you in?” Taekwoon didn’t answer. Of course she would, she always would, that’s one of the reasons he hated his inability to love her. But, he thought, if that meant that he could be with Wonshik it might not be so bad after all.

~~~
“Leo? What are you doing here at this hour? Who is that?”
“Do not call me Leo. I have something I need to tell you”
~~~

“She took that fairly well, considering the circumstances” Wonshik said as he closed the door to Taekwoon’s house behind them. “Well, she is always amazing like that. It made pretending to love her so much harder, because I could never repay her” Even though he still felt awful for making her cry, it felt like a huge burden had been lifted off Taekwoon’s shoulders. He felt like he could breathe freely for the first time in years. As he turned around and looked at the handsome hunk of a demon before him he couldn’t stop a huge smile from spreading on his face. She knew everything now. He didn’t have to lie anymore. He was free.

Wonshik returned the smile as he strode towards the human and wrapped him in his arms. “Thank you for being there for me” Taekwoon whispered as he wrapped his own arms round the demon’s neck. “Always” his demon answered, leaning in.

When their lips met, Taekwoon felt like he had lived his whole life in black and white and this was his first time experiencing colors. Feeling Wonshik’s hands everywhere as they desperately clung to each other, he didn’t understand how he had been able to live before. This was how it was supposed to feel. This was perfect and beautiful and he would never ever settle for anything less ever again.

Throwing his head back as he felt his demons lips move down his neck, he tightened his legs around Wonshik’s waist. He knew he would eventually have to face reality again, he knew his friends might beat him up, and his parents might disown him, but he just didn’t care anymore.

He was finally free to be himself with Wonshik by his side.

Nothing else mattered.
