-About Taeyang

Dong Young Bae (called Taeyang by friends) was born on May 18, 1988 in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-Do, South Korea.

Growing up, he was exceptionally intelligent and incredibly gifted. He won several academic awards for exceeding the standards of his high school and was known as a dancing prodigy. Because of this, he became the most popular guy in the school. Even though he was popular, he never changed his attitude towards others and was extremely kind-hearted.

During his first year of college, his parents passed away in a car accident. He became more and more depressed, lashing out at those who tried to help him. Losing all hope, he dropped out of college. He didn't see the point in going to school if there is no one to push you.

A year later, he found something to occupy himself: Dancing. He decided to open up a dance studio to teach people how to dance. Unexpectedly, a scout from YG Entertainment saw one of his classes and asked him to choreograph some of their artist's dances. He kindly accepted and is now a regular at their building.

He is finally his old self again, outgoing and loving.
