Well actually in my story I don't use the ____ or (Y/N) or anything, I only never revealed the name of the OC...
I also don't like the ____ thing, its really annoying.

I personally prefer to write an OC with a name too but for that story it just happened that way.

Really depends on what you're trying to do with the story :)
If you're writing to make the reader feel like she is the character then use you but never do the ____ thing
If you just want to write a story then you can do whatever the hell you want with the name haha

I personally think reading a story with a named OC is better because by that, we can grasp the character better.
