So like, reading down this convo I really don't know if you're trolling or if you genuinely think so, and I kind of feel sorry for you either way.
1) Comments are not about writers getting their ego and feet kissed. The best comments are the ones that actually COMMENT about what happened the chapter, and so far, none of my readers have typed paragraphs regarding how much they liked my writing or whatever.
2) People post stuff online to share it. If they didn't want to share their work, they wouldn't come onto AFF to publish it. While subscribers are there, they're not exactly a complete reassurance that someone's reading. I'm subscribed to a bunch of stuff and I don't read it.
3) If you genuinely think comments are annoying, the solution is simple: don't put what you write online.
@jungkookismykook but how can i be grateful for my readers if they don't interact with me? :p if they don't interact with me, i won't know they exist ;)
@jungkookismykook what do i have to be grateful for? like im not complaining about getting comments but i most certainly wouldn't consider my stories with a lot of comments (maybe with the exception of two stories). so tell me; what do i have to be grateful for? ^^' (if you believe comments are annoying i won't take that as an answer to the question above.)
@jungkookismykook do i get heaps of comments?? lmao what a joke. i guess it depends on who looks at the amount of comments so its always be individual. if it's too much of a big deal to comment afterwards, it should be too much of a big deal to read the story ;)
@jungkookismykook Honestly, readers should be more grateful that some authors still write even when they get literally nothing in return. But people have different opinions about that, I guess..
@jungkookismykook little comments? well, I mean if positive comments or constructive criticism, both is helpful for an author... of course you always have authors who can't get along with criticism...
@MissMinew i'm just confused..people complain about little comments when they get a lot :P you get heaps of comments, you should understand ? it's just too much of a big deal,, i hope people will understand ^^
comments are not to the author's ego... they are supporting and help an author to keep working on the story... it's hard when there's no comment because you don't know if anyone likes it, wants to read it, or if it's ... comments are enchouraging to keep on working in the working and yourself
who doesn't want their ego tho?? you go about your business. if you think authors complain too much about the lack of comments, you're free not to read the stories. it's that easy.
It's because we authors write for free and there's nothing more demotivating than uploading something without people commenting. See it as someone who is performing a play (the author) & there's like the audience (the subs) but only a few people clap (the commenters) while the rest stays quiet... doesn't sound very nice, does it? Is it so much to ask for a simple feedback, such a burden when we ask for people to leave their thoughts about our work? I want to emphasize that we write FOR FREE, so commenting is the least subscribers can do (and that does not mean we want you kissing our feet and our egos).
