(` roleplays and their admins.

hey i just wanted a space where i can somewhat rant(?) about some roleplays and their admins and the issues i've witnessed so far in my years of roleplaying. feel free to express your opinion even if it goes against my points and of course, you're very welcome to share your own frustrations as well.

just keep in mind to stay civil and refrain from starting arguments because that's not the point of this discussion. i simply want to share some of my thoughts and would like to hear about other's thoughts as well. this is more of a place for criticism rather than attacks.

what has bothered me a bit is that too many times, a roleplay dies out because the admins aren't working hard enough to promote the place and encourage the members to be active. this is especially true in literate roleplays since i feel like the members usually need a bit of a push to start interacting in such places. but what bothers me even more is that too many times have i heard the excuse that the admins are busy and have their own lives and can't be online a lot - which i feel is barely a strong argument because you should be prepared beforehand to have to put in some kind of consistent activity and time into the roleplay if you decide to open one. if you know you're going to be too busy, don't open the place. if you know you don't have enough admins, don't open the place. it's a choice you make once you post the thread and it's one that you make entirely on your own. i feel like admins should take some sort of responsibility when they open and manage a place. they have to be prepared to share the blame if something goes awry. no one forced you to open the roleplay, and it's not something unreasonable to expect some sort of commitment from admins as a member. it's very disappointing to see when some admins let emotions take over and they start to berate the members as if they are misbehaving children. that's not the kind of image you should be upholding especially when you're addressing the members as an admin.

so dedication, and image. i guess that's two things i'd like to point out though i'm sure there are many more.
