Stay faithful to a story

It's hard. Especially if I outlined the story first. I usually had the story saved in my head, but once I started, I just lost the motivation. Some of the lucky one get the full draft, and some only a few chapters. But they are never finished. I missed getting a story done. I missed posting. What should I do? T_T

@MiraiFiquin Right? It so sad that we tried our best yet the outcome is not as rewarding. TOT Let just keep going bud. Good thing come to those who wait. :)

I understand, very much..having the same problem right here. Especially, when you give all of your effort, you give your all, but nobody encourage your ff. Hahaha.

@secretlurve Absolutely! A story of mine was abandoned for nearly a year with only one chapter, but i just let it be (for a change), then few months ago insimply got an idea for how to continue it and now I'm on chapter 10.

Also, here on AFF I started a story a few months ago and it was left with no update for two months and recently I updated it too.

Also a story i worked really hard on and which I really wish to finish has not been updated for four months! But I will definitely not give up on it.

Just give yourself time and wait until you feel like writing it again and I always do. :)

@secretlurve Contests are fun! The rewards are only really half yhe prize—what's more is that you improve on your writing and even expand your abilities and techniques. No rush though. There's going to be lots of it you can enter your stories to in the future. ^^ Good luck on your story/ies!~

@soosfaerie That actually work? I know there are many ways of how you want to do the process of writing, but this one. This one. I thought that leaving your stories equal to disown them and never meet them again forever. *sobs* I'm so happy to read your suggestion. This is assuring af.

@sylviaplant Yup, these are helping. :D

I'm in the process of doing the first suggestion. I'm just starting yesterday so I'm still not sure how it will affect me. Also, I have been itching to write for a contest, but can't seem to insert the time to write for it since I always occupied with my own unfinished stories. But of course, I would like to anticipate one day. :)

@flytothesKAI I know right!? There's like a mountain of waiting ideas that I want to write. But I can't afford to pick another one because I already have several stories I started that are yet to be finished. And yes, my writing also a lot. Which just make the process to finish a story a lot harder. I'm so jealous of pro writers.

Glad to meet another Malaysian. :D Selamat hari raya to you too.

@secretlurve Absolutely, I told you i finished only one story in my life.
I understand, we all start our stories with idea of a great, cool ending but rarely get there. I hope it gets better at some point.
What i do now is that i just leave the story be even if I have lost interest in it momentarily. I actually managed to go back to a few of my stories like that. At some point the same idea strikes again and i just continue it until it expires again. One of them (not on AFF) is actually close to the end.
Try it, it might work for you too :)
Good luck!

If you want you can publish them, so there's no way you're ever going to feel the need to abandon it anymore because you'll see how many people are waiting for it. Or enter a writing contest—setting a deadline for it can help you to focus on it more. That's only if you want to post anything or finish a story. It's a bit obligatory, but for me, it helped me finish my works. Hope this suggestion helps. ^^

@soosfaerie Yeah, as long as we have fun everything will be fine. But it's inevitable, you know. To want the story to finish even though I just start it like a few minutes ago. I don't know about you, but it has been a loooong time since I finish a story and is sastified with it. I want to feel it again. I hardly got a piece betaed and finished it nowadays.

@flytothesKAI So frustrating, isn't it? Since I mostly write oneshot-because all of my attempt to write chartered story failed. This is also another problem-, I will write the story in one sitting. There's a few minutes break when I began to lost my sh*t, but I will try to finish it at that time. Though, usually I would be distracted and the story will be abandoned for who know how long.

Also, the other day I realized writing in public help to keep the words flow. It get something done, but I don't go out of my house that often so this chance is so rare.

Also, collab writing help a lot, since you got the spirit from friend and you won't be doing the plotting alone and yeah. The fun is exciting. The only time I ever done this was two years ago. The amount of finished shots are just satisfying.

Same here. At times when I happen to get a right idea it goes a long way, but I finished a story only once and ended up deleting it lol
Just keep writing and having fun writing out the ideas you have. No harm will be done even if you dont stay faithful to it :)
