I'm weirdly tired of BTS/ARMY? (Unpopular Opinions)

*Sorry if this offends you, these are my opinions and I promise I don't want to bash BTS*

Honestly, for the past few months, I've been drifting further and further away from BTS.
Everything's just been so....
Weird.

I think it started with me never really listening to their whole albums. I don't think I've ever listened to an entire BTS Album- Wings was close but not there yet.
Confession #1: I don't love most of their songs.
For me, personally, BTS doesn't give me a lot musically and that's a HUGE turn-off for any singer. I know, I've been told by every fan that BTS's lyrics are so socially-conscious and so deep.
So what? bad lyrics sink a song, but 'deep' lyrics honestly don't do much to elevate it. I'm listening to the song, not metaphorically analyzing it.

Confession #2: (I think) BTS is too affected by the pressure to be 'deep'.
No, I'm not talking about the mixtapes or the rap singles (rap is way more about the lyrics). I'm talking about the MVs, whose storylines don't even match the songs anymore and are just the company's way of dragging in Tumblr teenagers and adults who, respectively, want to be 'deep' or are obsessed with analyzing and finding meanings to everything.

Confession #3: Yep...it's this one.
ARMY is getting to be too much. (I'm not talking about all of ARMY here. Just the misbehaving portion) Sending videos of them touching themselves to BTS? Explicit youtube comments on BTS's videos? Bragging about how BTS is perfect better than every other group alive and how they're so unique and perfect and so uncelebrity-like?
And since the 'deep' music BTS releases and the MVs, most of their fans are preteens to teens. So immature. (not saying that I'm mature though)
Also, for a lot of them, BTS was their first kpop group. They don't know anything, so they bash. And bash. And show no respect to anyone who dares disagree with them.
Please no.

Confession #4: I just feel like the vocal line's talents are extremely overhyped.
Guys...BTS are not good singers technicality-wise. That's a fact. They don't have to be at all- as they debuted as a group that would focus mostly on rap and hiphop.
They all have potential and deserve proper vocal training- they're going to hurt themselves with the technique they're using now.
THey're not better than most kpop main vocals.
And Jungkook, who's hyped the most?
I find his voice way too airy.
Side note: they should work on their live performances as well. As a fan, I wince every time I prepare to listen to a live performance- cause I know that there are always places where the singing is... just not good. I know Jung Yonghwa is about the same level technically as them, but he's much more stable live, even during the concerts.

Second part to this, I guess, are their performance skills.
BTS are wonderful dancers. They work really hard. and have awesome choreo.
But are they really performers yet? (i don't expect them to be- they're not veterans, and not a band, and most kpop dance groups cant do it anyway)
They still find it hard to really fill up a stage, really make it feel like a performance. At least that's what I've seen from them.

Confession #5: I'm getting tired of them personality wise (especially Jungkook and Jimin). Hope is the only one who seems not to have changed his heart much since debut, but it's really hard to find any celebrities whose fame hasn't gotten to them yet.

Do you guys have any?

Thanks for listening to my rant.

@fiftymiles "You know the reason you publicly agreed with the post is purely because you wanted the attention from having the seemingly unpopular opinion and that makes you special" That's where your wrong. I'm only here because I just wanted to give my opinion, plus I don't think I'm special or anything because I know that there are probably lots of other people that feel the same way. "So don't feel like the world is going to gasp at you not liking BTS" I agree, no one is gonna "gasp at me not liking BTS" anymore. Yes, I know that but like i said, it's just an opinion that I have. I'm not trying to get more attention by just putting down what I think about the situation. Your opinion is your's and mine is mine. So no need to come at me for putting down what I think.

@kychen Copy pasted for you too - I think something you need to really think about is why you felt the need to post this, and this is coming from someone who doesn't care for BTS. You know the reason you publicly agreed with the post is purely because you wanted the attention from having the seemingly unpopular opinion and that makes you special. I guarantee you, people fall out of love with bands all the time. It's not that deep. They are NOT your soulmate or your husband, they are just a band you like. So don't feel like the world is going to gasp at you not liking BTS, most people don't give a crap, they just think you're fishing for attention. Because, really - does anyone need to know this?

If you don't like a band, move on. Your fandom isn't a country where you leaving makes you a wanted fugitive of some sort.

I think since I’ve been a long time fan WAYYYYYYY before they ever blew up, I watched them grow and get big and then also lose their originality. I love BTS and they will ALWAYS have a place in my heart but I miss the old them. I know it’s selfish to ask to see the old them because they have grown into amazing talented men. But the reason why I say I miss the old them is only because I felt their passion then. Now, their music is all really mainstream and it doesn’t touch me the way it use to. I’m still very proud of them and hope they take some time to just slow down and go back to their roots.

Honestly, I agree with most of what you said. This is in my opinion, dont come attacking me please. I feel like I used to be overly addicted to them but now I feel like I'm slowly drifting away. I still think that BTS itself is a pretty good group, its just that their music isn't...uhh...i forgot the word lmao. But I mean people have their opinions.

I love that you brought this unpopular opinion. I like BTS and I can admit there are some music of theirs people go crazy over and I just can't understand why - however, those are based on your preferences and your opinion. ARMYs, a lot not all of them, definitely go crazy that is becomes a bit annoying. What annoys me is that people tend to think the only kpop group that is awesome is BTS. There are so many other groups whether or not they're popular. Kpop isn't just BTS, it's a ton of other awesome groups. BTS is just one of many. Once again thank you for sharing your opinion! I love unpopular opinions :)

I sort of agree with you, but like it’s not them in particular that got to me. I still like a lot of their songs and stuff but like, okay I can not watch their interviews, they are just so repetitive and the fandom..... dear god! I am NOT say every army is like this but it’s just becoming bull lately, and so much more aggressive than before (or maybe I didn’t see it), but like where I use to love calling myself an army, now I just feel ashamed when it’s brought up because the fandom as a whole is just becoming toxic. And I am so sorry to baby army’s who may not know what it is they are getting into honestly. I mean I still listen but it makes me feel sad now.... does that make sense? Like does anyone else feel like that? Like I’ve learned so much from the fandom and have found my love for k pop through them but... now... I don’t know man. I don’t want to leave the fandom because I actually really still like them but there is so much toxicity I don’t think I can handle it. Sorry I kind of ranted in your rant.

Hello! I'm Mirae and i think the same as you. I was an ARMY, i'm not even sure if i am one right now. I feel like i'm becoming distant to them. I appreciate their success but i do think they changed a lot and jhope and suga probably are the ones who haven't changed. 🤔

@EunHae___ Wow i totally feel the same way. ARMYs never had a very good reputation, and there's a reason to it that everybody can clearly see. I was an ARMY, but the more i see how that fandom is behaving, and how i see that BTS is slowly losing the value they once had, I got so sick of it that I retracted my love for them.

At first they were so original, and though I could still see how some of their 'personalities' were forced, they weren't forcing it half as hard as they did now. There's something insanely frustrating and hurtful about seeing the people you love slowly losing their initial personality and worth for something much more common and 'commercial'. It's mainly why I turn onto suju now, they just seem a lot more like themselves.

Also, forgot to add, yes, Jungkook is way overhyped -- more genreally speaking, the entire vocal line. BTS is just so cringe for me now, it's hard to imagine I was ever in love with them in the first place.

Dude, preach. I seriously couldn't agree more. Though I think you've completely misinterpreted J-hope. To me, he's the most depressing member to watch because his laughs are too obviously forced and his jokes barely ever sounds genuine (his body movement also shows how he over-milks several comedic moments), and that, to me, is just... cringe. Don't get me wrong though, I think he's a great person, but he seemed to be forcing a lot of things into the table; things he doesn't even poses.

For the MV's, personally, the fact that the company actually incorporated some of the boy's true stories, especially Suga's, into the mv's, makes it better for me. Also the love yourself series created a helpful message to everyone, including the ongoing Love Yourself campaign with Unicef.
As for the members' personalities, while some of them have changed like Tae who has went through a couple of losses and Jimin who's suffering from self-consciousness, there are some who are in fact showing their true selves like Jin who has become happier. Burn The Stage really showed the members' thoughts and feelings like Jungkook who's still growing and may seem immature (kinda guessing that's your stance on him, if not, feel free to elaborate on that). I understand if you would still see them changed because of fame but really, I think they're all sweet-beans at heart. Sure they all have to look confident onstage but if you watch pretty much anything else, you'll see a lot more to them all, including Jhope :)

I agree with this so much. I just never got the hype. I tried to like them and their music for a while but I could never get into it. All of their voices just were never that great to me? I guess my favorite vocalist was V, but even so his vocals weren't something that I was excited to hear. I have respect for the group and that they've gotten this far. I feel like the thing that ruins it for me the most are the fans. BTS is relatively still a very new group but their fan base is already one of the worst in my book, mainly because they never accept someone else's reason for not liking BTS and make everything about BTS. I don't see a lot of people that I can actually relate to on this subject so I appreciate this post.
