When do you subscribe to an ongoing story?

Is it after reading every available chapter? Or maybe before?

I would read the story first. If it's interesting and if I like the writing style then I would subscribe. If I don't know yet them I'll read every available chapter.

I always read the whole thing first and then subscribe to an ongoing story. However, if it's subscribers-only, I'll subscribe after reading the foreword and then unsubscribe if I don't like it after reading the first couple of chapters.

Depends on the story.
If they provide details and well written Description and Foreword, then I subscribed right away.
But if not then at least I read the first chapter.
If the story if subscibers only, then I click subscribe and read first chapter, if its good enough then I'll continue, if not I click unsubscribe.

i usually never subscribe after reading only the foreword. i tend to read two or three chapters before deciding whether or not to subscribe. if the writer has extensive periods of time during chapter updates (usually months), i wait for the story to be completed. i'll get the notification but i won't read it until i know it's completed. then i upvote and unsubscribe once i've finished reading them and if i want to read it again, then i'll put them in one of my labels.

If the Forward and the first chapter or two seems intriguing, I'll subscribe. Or else, I'll read the whole story then subscribe if I really love it so much that I would want to read it again.

@reddoll123 sort of. of course, two of my stories have over 30 chaps but i try and not exceed 25.

@Lariat95 I do that too. Like if I read it and it's done--then I unsubscribe. Then, I'll try to comment and/or upvote since the story captivated me enough to stay til the ending.

@Topu-Da Ah, so I guess 30's the limit of chapters you'd read then?

Nah, I sub After reading the description. I read it right away if the first chapter(s) is(are) too good to ignore(it might end up me following/waiting for further updates) . Otherwise I add it under my "After Completion" tag.

I read every chapter available first, then subscribe if I like it.

I subscribe to keep a tab on the chapters. Sometimes I wait for the story to be completed to read it all.

@reddoll123 no no. not like that. lets say i found a story that has like 10 chapters already when i found it, so i'll sub it and read it no matter how many chapters it will have from then on. but if i find a story that has already 30 chapters when i found it, i'll ignore it.

Every available chapter, then I go back and subscribe and put the label "up to date" on it to know that I've read it all and I read every update as soon as it comes out. One thing I do that may bother some authors is unsibscribbing after the story is complete and I'm done reading because I like being subscribed only to those I'm reading, otherwise it's a little chaotic to keep track of. If it's a story that hasn't even started but sounds promising, then I subscribe on the forword and wait for it to, you know, exist.

i normally subscribe based on the foreword (that's why people-----pay attention to what you put in there, it's the first impression that counts in most cases lol). i mean, if the foreword doesn't "grab" me, then i sure ain't reading or subscribing. if it's an author i know and trust, i hit subscribe "blindly" you'd say. i just know i'll be given quality content. for others, i tend to sub on the foreword, in the worst case (though that rarely happens) i'll unsubscribe if i start reading the story (after subbing on the foreword) and it doesn't meet my expectations. length, au, grammar errors etc are irrelevant to me. what matters to me only is the plot, storytelling ability and truthfullness to characters' personalities. if i sub, i most often also comment. i mean... if u like a story, you can show *this* much appreciation. as a writer myself, i know how important it is to get feedback lol so i like giving feedback too. esp encouraging new writers :)

@Topu-Da Ooh interesting :O. Even if the plot seemed really interesting, you'd stop reading after the 30th chapter?

It actually depends on you. As for me, I subscribe for different reasons. Sometimes I subscribe to a story because I promised to read it for a friend. At others, I subscribe because I actually liked how the story was going so far. And there are times when I subscribe because the foreword was so good I got the impression that the story would be, too. If you think the story deserves to get a subscription, do so.

when there are atleast 10 chapters. when it crosses 30 chapters, i quit, because it drags on too long
