The warm summer sun bathed the hospital in its golden light, where a gentle breeze danced through the branches of the trees, and the chirping of birds filled the air, their playful antics interrupted by the occasional flutter of falling leaves.

Various monitoring devices were attached to the unconscious girl lying in the center of the ward. Charlie appeared serene as she lay on the bed, her expression calm as if she were merely taking a nap, waiting to awaken when the sun reached its zenith.

"How is she today?" Dr. Anne asked Serena who is beside Charlie the whole time after Charlie left the operating room.

"The same as before. I thought I saw her eyelashes twitch last night, but I can't be certain if it was voluntary." Serena replied.

"It's alright. The gland is the Alpha's most delicate organ. Following the repair surgery, the body's response varies based on physical condition. And given she's an S-level Alpha, we must remain confident." Dr. Anne said reassuringly.

"Okay Aunt Anne... Thank you." Serena said with a weak smile.

...

The conversation between Dr. Anne and Serena echoed in the ward, Charlie lying on the bed could hear every word clearly, but couldn't open her eyes.

Her daily consciousness was always in a state of chaos. She felt like she had entered that serene white world again. The gentle breeze seemed to permeate her body, lifting her up and blurring the line between waking and dreaming.

For the first time consciously, Charlie heard the conversation between Dr. Anne and her assistant.

Upon hearing them say that the operation was a success, Charlie drifted back into peaceful slumber.

For the second time consciously, Charlie heard Serena's voice calling out her name. The familiar sound echoed through the vast expanse, but the gentle breeze seemed to hold her back. Charlie struggled to wake up, but remained submerged in the depths of her consciousness.

For the third time consciously, Charlie felt the cool touch of a moist cotton swab being rubbed against her lips. The warmth emanating from Serena infused the water with the scent of Serena's pheromones, and Charlie felt herself slipping back into unconsciousness.

The fourth time she regained consciousness, Serena's voice still reached Charlie's ears, but this time it felt different. She could sense a rare touch.

In that serene white world, Charlie felt her hands, soaked in water, being gently enveloped in warmth. She strained to lift her fingers and brushed against Serena's thumb, but despite her efforts, she could only manage a slight movement, unable to fully respond.

...

This is the ninth time now.

Charlie didn't know how long she had been stuck in this state. Every time she heard Serena's voice, her longing for Serena intensified within this timeless world.

She yearned to see her.

Desire, like a rebel in this pure and desireless world, captivated the restrained girl.

Finally, a sound emerged from the water.

Charlie's trembling eyelashes parted, revealing a glimpse of real light in the pure white world.

The amalgamation of the sound of medical equipment humming and the sharp scent of disinfectant formed the backdrop of Charlie's cognition. Just as the door closed, she caught sight of a familiar figure.

She turned her head slightly, fixating on the familiar silhouette without blinking.

Serena appeared thinner, the loose skirt hanging emptily on her frame. She should have been distressed, but upon seeing Serena again, Charlie felt an unexpected surge of happiness.

"Charlie."

Before Charlie could fully take in Serena's appearance, the girl turned back with a surprised voice.

Bright sunlight streamed into the room from the window, casting a warm glow, and Serena's eyes reddened instantly.

She was crying, yet there was a smile on her face.

"Charlie, you're awake."

Charlie smiled and nodded, reaching out to gently wipe away the tears from Serena's eyes. "I'm sorry. I scared you again."

"You've been in a coma for a week. You almost scared me to death," Serena complained, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance as she gazed at Charlie intently. "I thought I was going to lose you. Why didn't you wake up sooner? Do you know how scared I was?"

Serena tried to maintain a calm voice, but her words trembled with emotion.

Charlie felt a pang of guilt as she listened, realizing that this wasn't the first time she had been unconscious.

Twice before, she had experienced the same thing for Serena's sake.

With a heavy heart, Charlie whispered to Serena, "I'm sorry. I should have woken up earlier."

"I heard everything you said to me these past few days, and I know you've been here with me all along. Thank you. Thank you for bringing me back."

Serena shook her head in response to Charlie's words.

But Charlie couldn't help but notice the stack of documents piled up on the nearby sofa. "Did you move your office here?"

Serena nodded slightly. "Yes, I couldn't rest until I knew you were okay."

Ever since Serena knew Charlie does not belong to this world, she became scared.

When the night is quiet, Serena will wake up in her sleep afraid that Charlie will be gone in this world forever.

Whether it’s flat or strong winds and waves these years, Charlie has become an indispensable part of Serena’s life. She is really afraid that when she comes to the ward to visit the next day, Charlie will disappear from this hospital bed.

Only when she is close to Charlie can she have a rare good night's sleep.

Charlie couldn't help but raise her hand and gently Serena's cheek.

Feeling her weight loss these days, Serena asked with concern

"The company's affairs have not been delayed?" Charlie asked.

Serena shook her head, "Everything is fine... Don't worry about that."

Charlie  couldn't help feeling overjoyed when she heard it, "Great, it seems that today is your lucky day."

Serena looked at Charlie and asked, "Why do you only care about my affairs? why don't you ask about your own surgery?"

"The gland repair surgery done by Dr. Anne in the book has not failed." Charlie said, "What's more, I can feel that the feeling of loss of strength in the past has disappeared."

When Serena heard Charlie's words, her eyes dimmed slightly, "Sometimes I am very grateful for you to know this. But sometimes I am very worried about this, afraid that the world will take you away at any time."

Charlie understands Serena's worries, and this is what she has always been afraid of.

Charlie gently rubbed the back of Serena's hand and said slowly, "I'm still here, right? Don't worry about those things anymore, my love."

Serena heard the words as if to make a petty temper and squeezed Charlie's hand tightly. "Then you must always be here."

Charlie felt the worry that Serena still had between her brows, and Charlie joked half-jokingly, "Then you have to kiss me."

There was a cold breeze blowing outside the window, and there was a faint scent of strawberry champagne flowing in the room.

Serena leaned down and pressed a kiss full of love on Charlie's lips.

Charlie clasped Serena's hand tightly and grabbed a wave of folds on the flat bed sheet.

The sun was stained with love and became warmer, and two dark shadows were projected on the wall like this, nestled and overlapped, unwilling to separate.

Serena pulled away from the hug.

"After you get discharged, you'll move in with me to the Sutherland Mansion..."

"But I---"

"No. You'll listen to me this time. This is non-negotiable."

Charlie chukles.

She pulled Serena again close to her and sealed her with a peck on the lips.

"Okay, boss." Charlie said.

After a week, Charlie was discharged from the hospital. The gland surgery went extremely well, and the wound from the operation, healed realli well.

"I'm really amazed at how S-level alphas can heal faster than regular alphas... Your wound seemed to be healing pretty well, Charlie... I just want to give you a heads up, that you'll be pretty aggressive as the glands heal..." Dr. Anne said, giving a playful glance at Serena.

"I wish you good luck, Whisper..." Dr. Anne said added chuckling.

Charlie chuckled while Serena felt her cheeks blush.

"T-thank you Aunt Anne..." Serena said changing the topic feeling shy.

Serena guided Charlie to the Sutherland Mansion, where Aunt Carol and the other maids awaited them at the door.

"Welcome back home, Miss Charlie," they chorused, bowing respectfully.

"Thank you, Aunt Carol, everyone," Charlie responded, her smile warm and genuine.

Serena watched Charlie's smile, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her.

As soon as they entered Serena's room and closed the door, Charlie enveloped Serena in her arms, catching her off guard with the sudden embrace.

"Do you remember what Dr. Anne said earlier, Whisper?" Charlie whispered into Serena's ear.

Serena blushed at the affectionate nickname Charlie used. It had been a while since she heard Charlie call her Whisper, and she knew exactly what it meant.

"But Charlie... your glands are not fully healed yet—" Serena tried to voice her concern, but her words were cut off by Charlie's kiss.

At first gentle, the kiss quickly grew more passionate, leaving Serena breathless and unable to finish her sentence.

Serena understood Charlie's longing, empathizing with the struggles Charlie endured when her glands weren't functioning properly.

"Remove your suppressant patch now," Charlie requested between kisses.

Without hesitation, Serena complied, peeling off the suppressant patch from her neck.

She surrendered herself to Charlie's desires.

"I don't think I can hold back today, Serena..." Charlie confessed, vulnerability shining in her eyes.

Serena smiled, tenderly caressing Charlie's face.

"Then don't, my love," Serena encouraged.
