No. No. No.

I shouldn't be here.

That's what I first thought while running my sweaty palms up and down on my black slacks. My hands were shaking and I tried to stop it by clenching them into fists but it was just shaking so terribly that my nails started to dig on my palms and draw small crescents there.

Run. I should run.

Yes. Yes. That's what I should do. I stood up from the chair and pivoted towards the door. I heard someone call for me but I didn't look back. I just kept walking and walking. I shouldn't be here.

I shouldn't have-

A strong grip yanked me back and I stumbled on my heels. Goddamn! I was so close to the door.

"Not so fast." She made turn to face her and I almost couldn't recognize her. Her hair was pulled into a neat ponytail where I could see no loose strands peeking. She was wearing a white suit that looked so much like-

I gasped.

I inched forward and stared at her dumbfounded, "And here I thought you're already malnourished."

She chuckled but her grip on my arm was still tight. "Don't start now. Let's go, Ms. Kim."

I didn't move an inch from where we were and stood my ground. "No."

She released her hold on me and sighed. "No?"

"No." I shook my head and ran my fingers on my hair. "I shouldn't be here. I-I can't accept this after-"

She tugged my arm and we went to the sides. She looked around before holding my hands. "Listen. Do this for you, okay? You were stupid. With all the things that happened before but please. Please don't be stupid now. She offered this to you and you need this. Please don't back out now."

You were stupid before... aren't I still?

After a minute of silence, I slowly nodded my head. She breathed in a sigh of relief and removed the lint on my clothes. She gave my hands a gentle squeeze before sauntering back to the hall.

"Follow me please."

I quietly did and when we were in the elevator, I couldn't help but stare at her reflection. She looked so expensive with her high heels and an armani suit that I had to bite the insides of my cheeks to keep my insecurities at bay. I tried to stop but once my gaze settled on my reflection, I couldn't help but pity myself.

Compared to what she was wearing, mine wasn't tailored cut for me. Mine was from different stores and a lot cheaper than hers. The blazer was from a thrift shop down the street that would offer discounts once you sweet talk the old lady enough. The black slacks was the one I used when I took the oath after I passed the bar. It was almost new(since I dont use it often because I'm jobless) but it's a snug fit in some areas. I had to make it work for me to look presentable enough but you'll notice the difference if I stood too close with someone like her.

She's wearing a ing Armani suit and it looked ing stunning on her. She probably sensed me staring so she quietly whispered, "I'll explain it to you. I swear."

Before I could reply, the elevator doors opened and I was greeted by a huge expanse of an open floor space littered with small cubicles and everyone seemed to be busy. They were bustling here and there and there was a buzz of a murmur that echoed in the place.

I raised my eyebrow in question but kept it in.

This place is a ing mess.

She nodded to a couple of people here and there and lead me to a much more secluded area which I assume will lead to her office.

"So... there's a major shift in the company that everyone needed to be on boat so that it stays afloat."

I snorted. "What?"

She chuckled, "I just wanted it to rhyme, okay?" She stopped infront of a huge wooden door and smiled at me. "Here we are."

My eyes widen in fear and I held on her. The nerves were back and I bit my bottom lip while looking at her. "Please don't leave me."

"May I remind you that you're older than me, unnie. Go."

She knocked thrice and before I could even react, she opened the door for me. I just stood there, frozen at the scene unfolding and she gently pushed me inside. "She doesn't bite."

Yeah, but she's scary when she's mad.

I staggered to stand straight, feeling my legs turned to jelly at the jitters I felt. I looked around and no one seemed to be inside until the chair swiveled in a hundred eighty degrees manner, and the CEO regarded me with a smile.

She stood up, her lavish blue suit sparkled in the sunlight. "Ah, my much awaited guest is here."

I didn't say anything and she chuckled when she saw my frozen state.

"Why do you looked so scared, Jennie?"

I averted my eyes and sighed. "Because you're you and I'm here."

She tsk-ed and motioned me to sit. I probably walked like a penguin when she cracked a laugh.

"Gods. Why are you so shaken up? It's just me, Jennie."

Yeah, just the CEO Jisoo Kim, one of the most influential in her field of work, a sought after leader and founder of the chain of establishments throughout Seoul.

Who said I am intimidated?

Totally not me or my lawyer title.

She asked me if I wanted a drink but I politely declined.

She went back to her chair and tread her fingers infront of her. "To say I wasn't expecting would be a lie."

"I looked that desperate that night, huh?"

Jisoo shook her head and leaned back on her chair. "No. It wasn't because of that. It's just..." she faltered.

"What?" I asked, feeling curious seeing her eyes became distant.

"You like challenges, Jennie. You always wanted to prove your worth and the opportunity was just too big for you to let go, right?"

My lips twitched, I heard an underlying tone of something somewhere in her words but I soon forgot it when she laughed, pulling me away from my thoughts.

"I may sound bragging but I'm not. Hell, I'm even proud to work here. I may have the highest position but I wasn't the one who built this, nor the one who honed its success, so I understand where you're coming from."

I kept quiet and let her say what she wanted to say.

She stood up and extended her arm on me. "So I welcome you, Atty. Jennie Kim to Kim's Corporation."

I blinked and slowly stood up, taking her firm grip and returned it with mine.

. The reality just sunk in.

I ing finally have a job!

I grinned and shook her hand more firmly this time.

"Thank you for accepting me."

"The pleasure is all mine, attorney. The pleasure is all mine."

I shivered at her words. There was it again. The tone... the smile. It was different.

And for a moment, I grew scared but it soon turned into elation when Jisoo handed me the documents to sign.

ing finally.

------

I was looking over the contract one last time, checking if it's good to be signed and agreed by Jisoo when someone knocked at my door. I barely looked up when it opened which made me glare at the person who barged inside without waiting for my approval. She only chuckled at me and waved, smiling from ear to ear.

"Hello boss."

I groaned in my seat, "Stop it, Rosie! You've been calling me that for the past three months and-"

My cousin briskly walked towards the chair infront of me and settled herself comfortably. "And it's kinda getting in your nerves?"

Sighing, I returned my attention to the papers stacked beside me.

My gaze travelled towards the part where the conditions of the agreement was but glanced up momentarily to look at Rosie. "To what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting my humble office?"

She ignored me and propped her elbows on my desk. "It's been really hectic, right?"

I hummed in agreement.

"Do you know what's the reason?"

"No." I dropped the paper and leaned on my chair as well. "I don't even handle the paper works about it. It's all been kept in the dark and I think Jisoo handles all of it by herself."

"That's odd."

"I know but I heard that it was a transfer of some sort. I just don't know what or if it's even a who."

She seemed dazed for a moment before turning rigid on her seat. "Oh! Speaking of Jisoo, she's calling for you in her office."

I quirked my brow. "Why didn't she just page me and bothered you to tell me that?"

Rosie just shrugged and with an annoying smile, she stood up. "Well, I don't know about your girlfriend but
