04 Cleaning

Bittersweet Capture

“…Why the hell am I doing this?” Miyoung grumbled to herself as she held a broom in her hand, sending deathly glares at the three boys who were sitting on sofas, doing absolutely nothing except for urging her to clean rather than to idle around, “You’ve got maids and butlers! It’s their job, is it not?”

Lu Han did not bother turning around when addressing the girl, “They are taking an extended break. Right now, you are responsible for all odd jobs around the mansion.”

Miyoung’s eyes widened the moment she heard those words come from his lips, “A-All? Yah! You realize how many jobs there are, right?”

Daehyun leaned back in the sofa, lounging completely relaxed, “Are you complaining already, Miyoung? That’s no good, you know?”

As Daehyun spoke, the three boys turned over to face her, smirking as if they had finally beaten her, “I mean, you did want to marry into Lu Han’s family, right?”

Miyoung couldn’t help but feel like she wasn’t treated like anything with these boys. Lu Han was definitely the worst, but the other two boys were not that much better.

They were a team when it came to trying to kick her out of the mansion!

A horribly inseparable team at that!

What was she supposed to do? She couldn’t admit defeat so easily like this – it’d only make them look down at her even more than they do now. Not to mention, her revenge wasn’t completed yet either.

Hearing Miyoung’s silence, the boys glanced at each other, almost as if they were speaking some unspoken language. Whatever the case, a few moments later, the youngest boy stood up. Sehun walked over to a window and ran his fingers across it.

“Ah, shame, really. The windows still dusty,” Sehun stated, falsely upset, “Time to do it all again!”

It took all of Miyoung’s strength to not walk over and slap all three boys until they were motionless on the floor. As if she really wanted to marry into the family!

That wasn’t her intention at all, and even it was, weren’t these boys really underestimating her? She would never be kicked out of a house so easily like this!

Finally, Miyoung took a deep breath. It was time to show these boys that she was not some sort of weak girl that they could push around. They wanted her to clean the entire mansion?

Fine.

She would do just that.

She would do it to the point that they would be awed.

She would make them speechless.

And that was what Miyoung did. She cleaned, folded, and washed all the blankets in the mansion. She dusted every corner of the house and cleaned every square inch of the entire property. She washed all the dishes, dried them, and stacked them nicely in the kitchen.

Everything she did, she did perfectly. If it wasn’t perfect, then she would take the time to redo it.

It was until she came to door of the last room that she found herself growing extremely tired. Staring at the room, she wiped her forehead with her forearm before advancing towards it.

“Ah, wait,” Sehun suddenly came up the stairs, stopping her, “You don’t need to go clean that room. It’s Lu Han’s. He hates it when people go in without permission.”

Words could not describe the feeling Miyoung felt in that split second. It was full of devious happiness to hear that she would have an excuse to go into his room just to make him uncomfortable. If that wasn’t the highlight of her day, then she didn’t know what was. Without hesitation, she burst into the room with the brightest smile on her face.

“Well hello there,” she stated, revealing an ever-so-innocent expression, “I’m here to clean your room!”

Lu Han’s eyes widened in horror as he saw her walk into his room so freely, “What the hell! Sehun! Why didn’t you stop her?”

Sehun rubbed his neck sheepishly, “…I tried?”

However, Lu Han didn’t exactly have the time to hear what the youngest boy had to say in reply. Before he knew it, he had rushed up to his door, pushing Miyoung out.

“Don’t come in! No trespassers allowed!” he began to try and force the door closed, “I will not allow anyone to come in to look for my weaknesses and secrets!”

Miyoung couldn’t help but roll her eyes, trying to pry the door open, “What are you talking about? I’m just here to clean your room!”

“Stop lying to me!” the boy insisted, using all his strength to close the door, “You want to gain the upper-hand and threaten me, don’t you?”

It was hard not to laugh at all the crazy theories Lu Han was coming up with about how Miyoung would do such horrendous things. Miyoung, as her friends knew, was a girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly. She was loyal and despised shady underhanded tactics that Lu Han seemed to think she was capable of. Hadn’t anyone teach him not to judge a book by its cover?

“That’s enough!” Miyoung huffed, “Just. Let. Me. In!”

With each word she uttered, Miyoung was able to gather all her strength and kick the door open. In she came, walking into his room just like that, pretending nothing had happened. A soft tune was hummed by her, under her breath.

How refreshing it was for her to make Lu Han so uncomfortable.

It brought smiles upon her face while Lu Han was shouting empty threats at her about going to her or something of the sort.

Of course, it was all just bark, not bite.

This story is very similar to a manga that I read a while back? I thought it was a coincidence, but there was also the scene where the girl threw out all of the jewelry, which was exactly the same. Otherwise, nice story.

Chapter 10: the story is quite fast and it would have been better if some of the scenes were written in detailed or maybe how Luhan's feelings started to develop for her. but oh well, i assume it is supposed to be a short story and it is great nevertheless! i'm starting to be a fan of your fic! <3
