“Lee Sungyeol, stay right where you are!” Mr. Kim’s loud voice startled us while we were studying in class.

“Yaa, yaa! I can explain, Mr. Kim!” Sungyeol’s voice could be heard from the other side. “Why don’t you put down the kendo stick and we can talk peacefully?”

“How dare you try to calm me down, you brat!”

I stared out of the window beside me and saw Sungyeol running at full speed as Mr. Kim chased him to the end of the hall. Everyone resumed studying, paying attention to the teacher in front of them but I continued staring out the window, listening to Sungyeol’s childish voice as he moaned in pain when Mr. Kim spanked him. A small laugh escaped from my mouth when I heard Sungyeol begging Mr. Kim to stop.

“Song Miyeon, stand up.” Mr Jung called out my name. Clueless, I did as I was told and stared at him blankly. My classmates started laughing when they saw my blank face. “You’re not paying attention again, always day dreaming. This is not the right moment to do that. Now kneel outside the class until my session ends.”

I let out a sigh and shuffled out of the class after waving goodbye to Nana and Ara.

  “Oh, Miyeon-ah!” Sungyeol waved at me cheerfully when I knelt down on the floor in front of my class and raised both of my hands.

I looked to my right and saw him kneeling on the floor in front of his class too. He laughed at me and made a silly face, mocking my annoyed expression. He was about to talk but then he changed his mind and fished out a torn paper from his pocket. Then he started writing something on it with a pen he’d been holding in his hand. After writing down on the paper, he folded the paper and slid it behind the cap of the pen. Then he threw the pen towards me, giving me the signal to read the note. I shook my head with disbelief and read the note:

You got punished too? Why? :P

I used his pen to write my reply before I tossed it back—together with the note—to him. With a big grin, he unfolded the note and read my reply. What I’d written on the note was:

I got caught for day dreaming in class. You?

He stifled a laugh and replied right away. And so we started passing the note to each other several times.

 Caught for being late… T.T. kekekeke… in your face :P

Annoying choding! Why are you always late anyway?

Because I wanna sleep longer :P

Ooh, I’m so scared! Well in your dream, Blank Miyeon :P Did you manage to find yourself a friend yet?

After reading his reply, I gave him a cold look and snorted. He faked a scared face and laughed as silent as he could once again. I didn’t bother to reply his note again after that because soon, the bell rang. It was finally recess.
