Bae Joohyun, 2020
Chronicle"That night, in her sleep, Joohyun felt light as a feather, swimming through the air. Little did she know, she was being transported through time, a century away."
2020
The grass bed where she lies was cold, Joohyun woke up frantic. Fear immediately struck her. The place just feels too foreign, as though she is in a strange new country. There were statues bigger than her. Fountains surrounded by flowers, all in bloom. The biggest surprise to her was her dress. She woke up wearing one of her more festive clothing. On her neck rests one of her fancy necklaces. She feels all too conscious about how she looks.
Behind her hums a deep voice, “Are you lost?” he asks.
Shivers ran down her spine as she turned around to face him. The man stood before her, towering over her. His pants are all worn out. He had strange hair. Blonde? His features looked Korean enough though very peculiar.
“Let me repeat myself, are you lost?” The way he spoke is unusual to her as well. It is Korean, but it sounds too foreign to her ears. Was he speaking informally? How rude. She would have been mad at him but the words of the shaman rings through her ears
“All of this expires the moment people start doubting you do not belong to their era. Stay low, you will find him.”
“Ah, yes. I’m sorry, but I really do not know where I am.”
“Ah. figures. You must have been one of the guests from last night. It’s easy to get lost here, huh? Let me take you back to the main hall.”
They walked through a flight of stairs, through a bunch of hallways and out to the main hall, leading out of the mansion.
“Do you need me to call you a cab? Or do you have your car parked inside?”
Joohyun is lost in translation. What is this era? What is a cab? Park? This is much too overwhelming. So much so that she faints right there and then.
