Getting Paid to Write Fics
My application to AFF's new crowdfunding program was accepted, and I'm setting up my account today. Yay! But I want to put it to you, my wonderful readers, to help me decide how best to handle the tiers and whatnot.
I honestly don't think there's any point to my setting it up like a Patreon, where you pay a certain amount each month to get access to content. I think that puts too much pressure on me to produce a certain amount of writing each month. My writers' block has been rough enough without adding extra pressure. :p
So what does that leave?
Well, some of you already leave me "tips" in the form of karma points, so I think an option for cash tips is worth having. A dollar here and there adds up. ^^ And I've had a LOT of people ask if I'd be willing to sell pdfs of my fics, so maybe I can offer those too?
What else can you all think of? Would you be interested in special sponsor-only oneshots? Or commissioned fics for a flat fee? I guess I'm just having a hard time imagining what people would consider worth paying for.
And what are your thoughts about this whole crowdfunding program anyway? I like it because it's nice to get even a tiny bit of money for all the time I spend writing. Fireflies alone is a huge time-sink. But when I think of how many silent readers I have who never leave a comment or even an upvote, it's impossible to imagine them paying even a dollar.
Anyway, just thinking out loud here. Would love to hear from you all, especially my regular readers, about what you think.
