“Are you sure about this buddy?” Taeyeon stares at Yul with his mouth agape. Half irritated with the tan guy’s stupid decision. Yuri on the other hand drank

the whiskey straight feeling the strong alcohol going in his system.

 

“There’s nothing left for me here Taeyeon. Selfish as it seems but I can’t see Jessica with…” Yuri did not manage to continue what he is saying. He can’t

even bear to say Jessica being with another man. It cuts him so deep.

“Confess then!” Taeyeon can’t help but raises his voice but Yuri just laughs it off sarcastically.

“It’s over Taeyeon. I’m tired and I’m leaving.”

Taeyeon sighs in frustration retreating from Yuri’s stubbornness. “Fine, but at least say goodbye to her.”

Yuri shook his head. “No, she will stop me. Not telling her I’m leaving is the first step to forgetting her.”

“What?”

 

Yuri and Taeyeon turned their heads to the front door where Tiffany is standing. She’s giving an unbelievable look particularly to Yuri. Yuri looks away from

Tiffany’s questioning eyes.

“You’re leaving?” Tiffany said while walking towards them. Yuri can’t answer back.

“Fany I thought you’ll come home late?” Taeyeon butted in trying to calm the tension growing but Tiffany did not even take a look at him.

“You are so stupid!” Tiffany’s voice boomed all over the living room.

“What are you saying Tiffany?” Yuri answered back.

“You think I didn’t know?” Tiffany smirked but her eyes are still fuming mad. Once again Yuri looks away.

“I’m not stupid not to see what your true feelings are! You love her but you never confessed, and now you’re just leaving her like that?”

Yuri was shaken by Tiffany’s anger. She is a bubbly girl and always flashing her eye smiles all the time, this image of her surprised him.

“You let her slip away, it’s your fault Yuri!”

“Yeah it’s my fault! I take all the blame! She’s gone and I’m done.” Yuri said weakly. He heard the girl chuckled.

“So you’re just walking out of her life like that? Do you expect her to not feel bad about this? You expect her to be okay with that set up? You ing

stood by her since she was born, she will never get used to not having you around!” Tiffany’s tears flows continuously as she shouts right in Yuri’s

face.

 

 

Yuri looks straight to Tiffany’s eyes. “It’s not easy for me too Tiffany. She will be with Donghae while I’ll be alone which I deserves! I’ll take that

wholeheartedly but seeing her with him all my life? I can’t Tiff. My heart can’t contain that much pain because I’m weak. I’m too weak Tiff.” Yuri’s shoulder

shook vigorously from crying.

“Fany let him be.” Taeyeon held his girlfriend by the shoulders. “I’ll take you to the airport.” Taeyeon said while looking at Yuri.

Taeyeon helped him put his luggage to the car drove for him, Tiffany is in front beside Taeyeon while he’s on the back staring out of the window.

Looking at the places he won’t be seeing for a long time. He probably won’t see them anymore. He was preoccupied with so many things that he

didn’t notice they reached the airport already.

 

 

“We’re here.” Taeyeon said softly.

“Oh yeah.” Yuri moves to get the luggage from the trunk.

“This is it Yuri. You can do it!”

“So, you take care and call me all the time.” Taeyeon couldn’t hide the sadness from his voice. They were now outside the car.

“Thanks a lot Taeng.” Yuri patted the shorter guy’s shoulder while smiling at him. He looks at Tiffany and smiles at her.

“Thank you Tiff, I’m passing the best friend title to you now. Please bear with her mood swings.”

Tiffany smiled back. “I will Yuri, you take care.”

Yuri nodded and took the handle of his luggage ready to leave.

“Bye lovebirds.” Yuri turned around but was cut a loud scream.

“KWON YURI!” Yuri held the handle tightly upon hearing the familiar voice. He looks back to Tiffany and the girl gave her an apologetic look.

“I’m sorry Yuri, she’s my friend too.”

“KWON GET BACK TO THE CAR NOW!” Jessica shouted angrily while walking towards them.

 

Yuri felt uneasy. “Sica you’re creating a scene.” Yuri said softly when Jessica arrived.

“I will definitely make a scene if you don’t get your back in the car now.” Jessica said while gritting her teeth in anger. Yuri looks at her straight in

theeyes.

 

“No.” Yuri answered back strongly. He saw the girl’s eyes become watery.

 

“Why?” She said trying to hold back the tears.

 

“My family needs me.” He lied.

 

“I need you.” Yuri gasps with her response, He’s now having second thought on leaving but his eyes spotted Donghae. “I’ll be back just in time for you

wedding.” Yuri lied once again.

 

“No, your family is okay. I talked to your mom last night! You’re not leaving Yuri.” Jessica hugged him tightly refraining him from leaving. Yuri took her

hands off from him carefully. Shock and pain can be seen from Jessica’s face. Obviously hurt by Yuri’s action. “Why are you doing this?”

 

 

Yuri shuts his eyes tightly and backs away from Jessica.

 

“You found your love. I need to find mine and I won’t be able to do so with you around.” It was harsh but he needed to say it.

 

“Oppaaa.”

 

 

Yuri lifts his hand stopping Jessica from getting near him again. He turned around and took his luggage to get everything over with. Seeing her like

this. He might give up and stay.

 

 

“Oppa get back here!”

 

 

Yuri quickens his steps without looking back while letting his tears out ignoring Jessica’s calls.

 

“Oppa..” Jessica is about to run to Yuri but she was stopped by a hand pulling her by the elbow. She looks back with tears blurring her visions. It

was Donghae with an angry expression.

 

 

“If he wants to leave then let him be.” Donghae said shortly.

 

Jessica was shocked with how tight Donghae’s grips are, she felt scared all of a sudden. She brushes off the man’s hand while battling with his

angry gaze, she then turns to Taeyeon.

 

“Why?” Jessica’s voice said weakly.

 

Taeyeon looks away.

December 5, 2013

12:00 AM, San Francisco California.

Yuri finishes off the remaining alcohol in his glass. He reached for the bottle and pours the glass full then lifted it up to air.

“Happy Birthday Yuri.”

It was the second time spending his birthday alone. Two years since he left Korea.

And Jessica.

 

He haven’t heard anything about her since he left, well it’s because he refused to. Every time Taeyeon mentions Jessica’s name he cuts him off right

beforehe says anything else. The pain is still fresh as if everything just happened yesterday. It never healed, and he doesn’t think it will ever heal. So

here he is alone and lonely. He sighs deeply then bring the glass to his lips and sips in the strong alcohol.

 

“Kwon Yuri?”

Yuri turns his head upon hearing his name being called by a woman. He furrowed his brow trying to recognize the said woman.

 

“I will seriously kill you if you don’t recognize me.” The woman smirked at him making Yuri finally recognize her.

 

“Kahi? Oh my god is that you?” Yuri stood up from the stool he was seating at and hug her,  Kahi chuckles while hugging him back.

 

“How are you? You look great!” Yuri praised when they separate from the hug. The woman flashes a bright smile hearing his compliment. “Have a

seat.” Kahi sat to the stool beside him.

 

“Thanks.”

 

“You don’t drink still?” Yuri asked while raising his brow, he was more like teasing.

 

“You haven’t changed KKabyul.” Kahi said laughing at Yuri’s playfulness.

 

“Yeah, I’m still handsome.” Yuri wriggles his brows adding up laughter to the woman. “Pineapple juice?” Yuri offered, he knows that the girl likes that

beverage a lot.

 

“Of course.” Kahi replied. “So what is the great Kwon Yuri doing here celebrating his birthday alone?” She eyed Yuri while the man drinks, he puts

the glass down and shook his head. “Why are you here in San Francisco?” Kahi continued not leaving her eyes from Yuri.

 

“Well, I settled here.” Yuri said without looking at her instead stares at the glass he was holding.

 

“You finally married Jessica then.”

 

Yuri felt a sting on his chest upon hearing Jessica’s name. And not just her name, Kahi mistook his statement.

 

“I settled here alone.” Yuri tried to hide the pain but failed to do so. He clears his throat and spoke again. “She married someone else.”

 

Realizing the situation Kahi looks away and did not spoke for a moment.

 

“So how about you? Why are you here?” Kahi turn her head back to Yuri. She saw him trying to smile and brightens the mood. She smiled back.

 

“I work here, in this bar.”

 

“Really? I probably held you up then.”

 

“No silly, I’m waiting for my partner. We sing here as a duo” Kahi explained. Just then she spotted her partner entering the bar. “Speaking of, I’m afraid

I have to leave you now.” Kahi tapped his shoulders as she bids goodbye.

 

“Yeah sure, it’s nice to see you again Kahi.” Yuri stood up and guided her down from the stool.

 

“And it’s nice to see you too Yul.”

 

Yuri stay in the bar for a while, he watches the girl as she sings emotionally.

 

Just like how Jessica sings.

Yuri closes his eyes as the words hit him deep.

“I love you so much Jessica. I hope you’re happy.”

“I’m sorry for the song.” Kahi said making Yuri turns his head down to her. They were walking on the way to Kahi’s apartment. Yuri insisted to take her home

since it’s very late, Kahi refused at first saying she’s used to it but Yuri insisted still.

 

“It’s okay.” He assured. “So you’re living with you fiancé?” Yuri asked.

 

“Yeah, as of the moment he’s not here. He’s busy with their business back in Korea.”  Kahi turns left and Yuri follows. “We’re here. Come inside and have some coffee.”

 

“Sure.” Yuri nodded and follows her suit.

 

The apartment is quite small but looks cozy. Yuri observes the simple interiors themed in black and white from the wall finish, flooring, ceiling and furniture.

 

“Nice taste.” Yuri said.

 

“My boyfriend’s choice not mine.” Kahi chuckles then heads to the kitchen. I’ll leave you for a moment.”

 

Yuri continued observing until his eyes caught the picture frames placed neatly in a table. He walks toward the pictures and took one frame carefully.

It was Kahi and her boyfriend.

 

“Holy !”

 

Yuri gritted his teeth while holding onto the frame tightly.

 

“This can’t be!”

 

Yuri breathes in heavily as his anger rises. He heard footsteps approaching.

 

“Oh that’s my boyfriend, remember him?

 

Yuri’s ears become numb upon hearing the confirmation.

“Happy birthday Yuri.” Jessica lit the small birthday candle and stares at it. “I miss you so much oppa.”  

 

She bit her lower lip to stop the tears attempting to fall but of course, she fails. Jessica hugged her knees while crying her heart out. She misses Yuri

so much. Then she felt a light tap on the shoulders, she looked up to see who the person is.

 

“Hey, I’ve got champagne.” Taeyeon smiled warmly at her. “Tiffany’s in the washroom, we’ve got more foods.”

 

Jessica wipes her tears away and forced a smile, she stood up and fixed her dress. “Yeah.”

 

Taeyeon felt guilty seeing Jessica like this.

 

If that stupid tan monkey just listened to him and did not hang up on him whenever he mentions Jessica.

Then he will know Jessica didn’t…

 

“Taetae what are you waiting for open that bottle up.” Tiffany pulls his arms lightly bringing his senses back.

“Oh yeah.” Taeyeon head to the kitchen and just then they heard a knock.

“I’ll go get it.” Jessica said then head to the door.

Taeyeon and Tiffany nodded.

 

 

“Donghae?”

The couple stared at each other upon hearing the visitor’s name.
