"I want it!"
"Want what, baby?"
Rami is a bit preoccupied with why Lavender Teahouse is closed on Friday, their busiest day. The door is unlocked, but she wouldn't feel right just walking inside. Besides, the lights are off and there's no one inside. Did the boss have something urgent that he needed to do and gave everyone a hasty day off? So hasty that the employees forgot to lock the door?
"Mommy, I want the doll!"
"Doll?" Rami finally turns to her daughter. "What doll?"
What doll? It wasn't a doll at all--at least, not if her wild guess was correct. Rami quickly shoos the stray cat away from her daughter and picks up the 'doll'. "Oh, baby," she says, trying to keep the shock out of her voice. "This poor doll has a broken arm, so Mommy has to fix it before you can play with it, okay?"
Jia looks upset--of course she is, she's only five years old--but nods like the good girl she is. "Okay."
"Come on now, the shop is closed, so we can't get drinks here. Do you want to go somewhere else?"
"Aww." Jia looks a bit sad. It seems like she didn't even realize that Lavender Teahouse wasn't open. "Then, can we go play at the park?"
A whole day later, Rami breathes a sigh of relief at her own geniosity. While browsing the supermarket for lunch, Jia saw another mini doll (Cinderella, with two sets of rubber clothes) and clamored for it. Taking this opportunity and hoping that her daughter will be distracted enough to forget about the other 'doll', Rami immediately bought it.
