Chapter 7
You're My DeadlineHer so called date hasn't arrived yet when she came. Rare.
Bomi was always the last to come when it comes to dates. It's either she came twenty minutes late or just on time. But never been earlier than their agreement time.
Actually she planned to ditch her date because of too much paperwork in her workplace but Hayoung kept on pestering her not to be late because her date values punctuality.
Like who cares?
Bomi chose the chair with her back on the wall, enabling her to see the people entering the restaurant.
While waiting for her date, she looked around, cozy tables draped with sophisticated light purple table cloth, soft ballad music playing in the background and candle on the center of each table.
Adding the dim lighting for a romantic atmosphere.
Romantic?
Actually, the place is where you'll never find either her or hayoung hanging out there. So it's already suspicious that Hayoung suggested it.
She had to be ready of how messed up that night can be. Hayoung is a great prankster when it comes to dates but of course it's too late to blame herself for agreeing.
Hayoung once set her up with someone who's literally a decade younger than her. Next was with someone who talked about her life achievements the most that Bomi almost fell asleep in the first ten minutes of that date. Either someone too old, too young, too flirty, too naive, too annoying, too dumb, too proud...
The thing is, no one was enough. Noone caught her attention. Noone clicked.
And Hayoung kept on asking random girls to flirt with her that only annoys her.
Bomi's gaze lingered on the tables with couples, who seemed engrossed with each other without caring about their surroundings.
Bomi found herself in facepalmed.
What the am I doing here?
The waiter headed towards her table. "May I start you off with something to drink?"
Bomi considered it for a moment, but what if her date would ditch her... Or maybe she doesn't have a date tonight at all?
Hayoung... You'll die tonight I swear.
"Can you recommend me your best wine here. A glass of that."
"Of course, I'll get you a glass and here's our menu, the top left is our special meal for tonight ma'am."
Bomi checked her wrist watch, five minutes to 7pm. Talking about punctuality.
"Someone is joining me. She should be here any minute. I'll order when she gets here." Bomi stated politely.
The waiter nodded and leaned to light the candle in the center table.
No need, Bomi almost said. She already had an idea of how that night would end.
One. Her date will flirt all night and somehow try to get her into bed.
Two. Her date will just blabber random things and she'll get bored.
Three. Her date will be perfectly nice but will reveal that she's really not into her. Well, that's okay though. Her date might turned into another close friend.
Flashback~~~ A day before the date.
"Care to tell me what the hell are you doing here?" Bomi asked as Hayoung who immediately headed to her kitchen with two plastic bags on hand.
"I brought you food. Saying thank you won't kill you unnie." Hayoung answered, smirking.
The last time Hayoung treat her nice was when the younger borrowed her car and returned it with a huge damage due to accident of bumping it into a tree. Realizing it, Bomi was into deep thinking of what Hayoung borrowed to her this time but found nothing.
Hayoung laughed. "I didn't do anything. I just want to check on you."
"And why do you need to check me?"
"You have a date tomorrow." Hayoung answered, wiggling her eyebrows. Bomi put all her efforts to avoid smacking the girl.
They unpacked the take out foods and everything is Bomi's favorite.
"Seriously, what are you doing here?" Bomi asked, trying to hide the gratefulness on her tone. She's really hungry that moment.
"I'll be giving you some advice for your date tomorrow." Hayoung winked which Bomi found disgusting.
And since Hayoung brought her foods. Might as well entertain her sillyness.
"I just don't want you to blow this off unnie. She put months trying to get you."
"You know... You don't have to do that. I don't need you to find a woman for me. I'm doing fine as you can see." Bomi tried to look at Hayoung's eye and it didn't take her long to realize that Hayoung wasn't buying it.
"Yeah you're fine. You can have anyone you want in just a snap of your finger. Yet lately, there doesn't seem to be anyone good enough and appealing for you." Hayoung simply explained.
"It's not my fault. You made it sound that I'm so picky and snob."
"It's you who said it. And hey... If it fits. Unnie. I'm just concerned. You've been playing around all your life. I mean... It's time to have something serious. Someone who can take care of you."
Bomi stood up, cleaning up the table while Hayoung transfered into the living room and Bomi followed after.
"It's unusual to hear those words from you." Bomi chuckled. Hayoung and the word serious can't be use in the same sentence.
"Effect of having Namjoo as your girlfriend huh?" Bomi teased and Hayoung cheeks automatically reddened.
Both of them sat on the sofa comfortably, scanning for some movie to watch since Bomi noticed that Hayoung had no plan to leave yet.
"If she's good and everything will be well tomorrow, Is there a chance that you'll go out with her again?" Hayoung asked with a genuine curiosity written all over her face.
Bomi turned to her. "What made you think that everything will be alright tomorrow?"
Hayoung's face lost it's color as if she got caught committing a crime.
"Ahh... It's...."
"Hayoung ah."
"Because, I'll help you to prepare tonight." Hayoung stuttered.
"What kind of preparation do we need here?" Bomi leaned forward. Just a little bit push and Hayoung will spill the tea.
Hayoung stood up. "Nevermind. Just... Dress appropriately. Not too provocative or showing much skin. A--and don't b-be late. That person values punctuality."
Bomi frowned. "Am I going to date your grandma?"
"Just trust me."
"Trust you?" Bomi repeated. "Trust you like... Ignoring the past set ups you made for me?"
"This is your last date unnie... You know the saying? Save the last for the best"
"It's save the best for the last idiot." Bomi corrected.
"It's the same!!!" Hayoung countered immediately.
"No it's not."
"Ahhh. Who cares. But my point is I definitely saved the best for this last date of yours unnie! Just do well tomorrow and one day you'll thank me." Hayoung's final remarks before leaving Bomi's apartment.
End of flashback~~~
Thank you huh?
Last scenario on Bomi's mind is... Her date will be perfectly nice and somehow, Bomi will be engaged to have a nice conversation. But Bomi won't feel any spark or connection at all. They will just talk normally and end the night that way with a question hanging on if they will go out again or not.
At the end of that night. Bomi would be frustrated, feeling that there is something wrong with her... Or that night will be the realization that she still wants Chor...
Holy cow. Oh Hayoung.
Her gazed went to the door when a familiar woman entered with the waiter beside her approaching her table.
"Here's your glass of wine Ma'am." the waiter put the glass on her table and ushered the familiar woman on the chair opposite of hers.
Bomi's mouth was on agape, staring at the familiar babyfaced woman in front of her. The only difference is that the woman's hair now is shorter.
Oh God.
When the woman smiled, Bomi was hit by the realization.
"Unnie." Bomi couldn't look away. She was being drawn into her... inescapably so.
The woman took a seat in the chair opposite to Bomi's.
Wait. Don't tell me. Ah . I need a knife. Oh Hayoung.
