Description
Joseon has definitely has regained it's glory under the rule of King Jiyong with his Queen Sandara, and his ever loyal allies. It was as if they all have started anew— slaves were cleared and registry books have been revised, prisoners' cases were reviewed and deserving ones have received pardons, taxes were reduced, women were given the right to study and above all, the caste system was disregarded.
Everything that was stated in the set of scrolls that the great predecessor king along with his three great allies have written were implemented and being rewritten in books.
But there is no such thing as achieving greatness by easy tasks.
By going against what the old ways, by defying the old traditions and for breaking the book of laws to mold it into something new, King Jiyong has come across great challenges.
The new King was known for his wit and courage, for his compassion for the lowly people, for his opendmindedness to new ideas, and for his love and loyalty to his queen and family.
The king's orders were like words of the gods in heaven, meant to be heard and followed, but what if someone comes along to challenge the the strength of the kingdom?
Will the King have enough power to block uninvited forces? Or should the successor of the throne step up and accept the test?
Will the new breed of Joseon people be able to defend and protect that one book of rules that freed them from the caste system?
There is no other choice.
They must.
For their future lies in that one book of code.

(The Great Predecessor King's Code- The King's Assassin sequel)
Foreword
CHARACTERS
KING JIYONG- the ruling King of Joseon, known for his compassion for the poor, his bravery to defend the kingdom, and his faithfulness to his queen and the royal family.
QUEEN SANDARA- the rightful queen of King Jiyong; the mother of Crown Prince Hanbin and Prince Jinwoo. She was loved by the kingdom for her great role in helping the opprressed and for her great support to the king's advocacies. She mainly looks after the education and welfare of children and women of Joseon.
Crown Prince Hanbin- the first son of the king, he was coronated the crown prince fourteen years after coming back to the Kingdom due to his mother's voluntary exile, an act which saved his father the position of being the king. Many people say that he is embodying the King himself, his ways almost too identical to his father's. Many believes he is meant to be the king someday but when a royal wedding plan appears before him, his heart was put to test. Will he be able to fight for an unspoken love for the lady that is Lee Hayi? Can he handle the weight of his position? Can he handle the people's expectations?
Prince Jinwoo- born four years younger than Prince Hanbin, he was said to be his Queen Mother's male younger version. He is gentle and kind, soft spoken and always acts by the book. He looks up to his brother Hanbin, and relies on him a lot. But when his brother Hanbin had to do his task away from the palace, Jinwoo realizes he had to grow up and defend his brother's throne.
Lee Hayi- The sole daughter of Minister Lee Seungri of the Defense Department and Lee Chaerin, a teacher in Lotus Arts Academy for Women. Although her father have been in the teaching profession before he was appointed as The Minister of Defense, and though her mother is also in a teaching profession for the arts, Lee Hayi showed no interest in the field. Instead, she found her interest in the field of medicine. She was set to marry Choi Taehyun since she was young but deep inside she only has her eyes for the crown prince.
Choi Taehyun- the only son of the Chief State Councilor Choi Seunghyun and Princess Bom, he was famous in Sungkyunkwan University and in the capital for his intelligence and skills in archery. Cold and aloof to people, he is very hard to please. He was set to marry Lee Hayi, as their parents have agreed upon years ago but one day he meets a young energetic lady, a sister of his rival in school, who will break his walls and conquer his cold heart.
Lee Soohyun- An adventurous and witty young lady, she was the younger sister of one of the wisest students of Sungkyunkwan, Lee Chanhyuk. She will be set to marry the crown prince but something comes along their way. When she meets Nam Taehyun, she immediately admires the man and an event happens on the supposedly royal wedding, changing their paths and setting their young troubled hearts free.
Kang Seungyoon- One of the avid followers of the King's ideals despite of coming from a family of Norons, he along with Song Mino and Lee Seungyoon successfully passed the gwageo (civil service exam) with flying colors. He landed a post in the palace as the princes' mentor.
Song Mino- a gwageo passer and an excellent swordsman, he was born from a family of farmers but was granted to study all thanks to the Great King Predecessor's code. He studied hard out of gratefulness to the king's goodness and vowed he will offer his service for the king and the royal family.
Lee Seunghoon- Born from a family of blacksmiths near the outskirts of Hanyang, he lived up to be a good swordsman even before entering Sungkyunkwan. He was in the same batch as Seungyoon and Mino. And together, they passed the civil service exam. He was later on assigned as the the youngest inspector, while Mino as the royal guard of the crown prince.
