Sub-Prime Extinction
Description
In a ravaged, future world, Byunghyun is a member of a small group of survivors living in the harsh wasteland. The most recent to be 'adopted' by a ragtag group of young men living on their own merits, he doesn't know exactly where he fits in yet in the scheme of things. He's always been self-sufficient, even before the world fell apart, but all he really wants now... is a reason to keep moving forward.
Foreword
No one knew why the thing that was supposed to save humanity and make them almost invulnerable was the very thing that killed off the vast majority of the population. The engineered super booster was supposed to eliminate most, if not all, genetic weaknesses in the human form. Initial tests were promising but when it was approved for mass distribution, the booster mutated, altering its form and purpose as it became an airborne pathogen instead. After the first wave of deaths, all the humans knew was that everyone was dying and if they were going down, the rest of the world would too. Humanity as they knew it tore itself apart trying to find a cure… and only succeeded in demolishing almost all semblances of civilization, laying waste to any chance of a better future.
A year later, not much has changed. Most of the populous is dead and the only ones still living are young men and women who fall into a very specific age range. Ironically, the only persons who proved to be immune to the virulent strain were those children, really, that science would have labeled as in their physical prime.
The survivors figured those between the ages of seventeen and twenty two for males and fourteen and eighteen for females, with some minor exceptions near that age range, were spared. Any person with a crippling genetic abnormality, however, was targeted regardless of age.
So what happens to the survivors of a decimated world when they themselves are little more than children?

*a/n - So a friend of mine has a resistance (in her defense it is justly earned) to RickJoe as a pairing. This is my answer to that reluctance. Hopefully I can do the pair some justice! lol
