not really lost
inhale, exhale on repeat“It was just here!”
Yuqi hisses, “Check again!”
Turning her pockets inside out, Shuhua shouts, “See? Nothing!” Her hair is a frazzled mess. Near tears she howls, “What am I going to do?”
“We’ll figure it out,” Yuqi pats Shuhua’s cheeks.
Minnie walks in the room, “Shuhua, are you—” her eyes balloon, “—what’s wrong?!”
“Unnie, I lost it!” The sentiment is lost in the sobs and hiccups.
“She lost the ring,” Yuqi clarifies.
“,” rushing over, Minnie digs through every pocket, over turns every cushion and peels back the rug, “Where is it? You just had it. Shu? Where is it?”
“She doesn’t know!”
When Miyeon walks into the room to ask Shuhua if she’s ready, everything dissolves into chaos.
In the hall, Soyeon sighs. “Are you going to tell her?”
Leaning against the wall, Soojin shrugs. “She told me to hold it while she went to the bathroom.” Glimmering on her finger is a beautiful ring. “She kept saying it better fit .”
Soyeon chuckles, “And?”
Modelling her hand for Soyeon to see, Soojin bashfully smiles, “It fits perfectly.”
