FIFTEEN
C.E.O.Taeyeon stood there startled for a moment as she put down the bag of bread and coffee she bought, “I wanted to talk to you about it last night but you got wasted.”
Jessica huffed in frustration, “I am not signing this.”
Taeyeon motioned Jessica to sit back down, “I got us some breakfast. Let me explain.”
Jessica reluctantly sat back down and sipped on her coffee, “Okay tell me why you want to dissolve your company.”
Taeyeon sighed, “Remember when we were in college? We made a pact that I would invent and you would sell?”
Jessica raised her brow, “And?”
“I did a lot of thinking.” Taeyeon sighed, “I held onto a lot of anger towards you for so many years…I mean it wasn’t like you deserved it either, that I lost sight of what I really love. I love to invent. When I was making the product for Zer0 ®, it was thrilling. I loved the challenge and I feel like the ambitions I put on myself to surpass your company distracted me from other things I want to invent. I want you to sign this to make me happy again.”
Jessica looked down at the paper and back up at Taeyeon again, “I won’t.”
“Why not? If you take over Zer0 ®, it would…”
Jessica held up her hand to stop Taeyeon, “I know what it will do. It will make me lose you all over again. I don’t want that.”
“What do you mean?”
“I sign this and then what? You run off to a hole and do your inventing? You run away from me again…I can’t do that anymore. I am tired of losing you.” Jessica held her head.
Taeyeon moved over and put her hand on Jessica’s back, “You don’t have to lose me. We can still be friends and I can give you all my cool ideas at a price of course.”
“Is that all you think of me Taeyeon? That I was friends with you just to take your ideas? I never once thought of you as a business opportunity. I wanted to be the one standing behind you, showing off how great you are.” Jessica sighed as she looked into Taeyeon’s beautiful eyes, “Can’t you see that I always thought of you as more than a friend?”
