Part 2- The insight
Crime in JeonjuThe detective was feeling frustrated because she knew everyone in that city was lying about something.
Doing her job that way was like swimming against the tide and Moonbyul had never faced a challenge so tied in external factors.
The young woman transformed her hotel room into her office because that was the only way to avoid the curious eyes.
There were pictures of the crime scene, the body, and everyone linked to the case covering all the walls.
Moonbyul locked herself inside that bedroom for 3 whole days and she didn't even answer any phone calls.
During that time, the young woman worked obsessively to the point that she forgot to eat. However, on the last day, she had an insight.
As the outsider who was on the way of the local police, Moonbyul was aware that the coroner might be as corrupt as some people in the police station. Nonetheless, he was the only person who could answer her questions.
The detective called the man's personal number and asked him to drop by the hotel as soon as possible and he got so worried that he showed up one hour later.
The coroner's eyes popped into the view of the crime scene and of the victim's body on the wall. Nevertheless, he tried to act naturally and asked:
__ How may I help you, Ms Moon? And couldn't we have done this at the station?
__ Have a seat, Mr. Jee. If we could, we would.__ The detective responded coldly.
The man gulped and did as he was told. Then he asked with hesitation:
__ So...could you tell me what is the problem?
__ You tell me, Mr. Jee. Why did you lie in your reports?__ The woman asked in a serene tone of voice.
__ What are you saying? I'm a very respected professional! I have a reputation.__ The older man was shaking.
The detective observed the male without changing her expression and then, questioned:
__ Who told you to omit things in your papers?
Mr. Jee started sweating and stuttered:
__ I'm...mm... Li...like wha...aat? What coul..ddd I o..oomit?
__ Any substance in the victim's blood.
__ Do you mean poison?
Moonbyul raised her eyebrow and declared:
__ You know I'm not considering this. But anything that you omitted. Spit it out while I am giving you the chance. Will I find something if I request a new autopsy? Done by a different person, of course.
__ Ermm....the chief asked me to....omit that the deceased had consumed alcohol, , and...Sildenafil. Well, actually he received orders....from the mayor.__ The coroner sighed deeply.
The detective punched the wall and walked around the room in silence for a while.
__ Why would the mayor care about the deceased using medication for erectile dysfunction? Or even.the rest? Is he linked to the drug cartel?
__ I swear I don't know...
The detective glanced at the older man and saw how scared he was.
__ Don't worry. I was not really asking you. Mr. Jee... Did you find any mark on the deceased's body that may have been caused in a physical confronta
