Glancing around the room, the bar was completely packed. Not a surprise though since it was a pretty popular spot for people to hangout at in Seoul, especially on a Saturday night. Besides the tasty drinks and good food, the live music played every weekend is what really kept locals like myself coming back. The DJ booked to perform tonight was one of the hottest around. There wasn't a venue in the city that didn't want him. Or a woman for that matter. Eyeroll much. He wasn't lacking in the looks department I admit, and the tattoos he had only heightened his attractiveness, but I tried to avoid guys like him, and for good reason obviously. My mom always said there was nothing more dangerous than a man with charm.
"Hana, do you want the usual?" Jiwoo called out among the chatter and noise. She worked behind the counter and was the bartender here. She was a bit older than me so I really enjoyed our conversations. She always had a wild story or two to tell about her life back in my age. I could only hope to be as adventurous as she was.
"Yes please!" I responded out to her.
"One cosmo coming right up." A few moments later Jiwoo appears, making herself comfortable in the seat across from mine. "So tell me, what's up? Anything new going on?" She asked as she slid my drink over.
I beamed, unable to hide my excitement. "Actually, I just got a new apartment! It's not too far from here so you should definitely come over sometime after work." I've been looking for a new place for almost a year already so when a co-worker of mine mentioned one of their tenants moving out I jumped at the opportunity. The building was really nice inside and out, and it also included a bunch of amenities which was really convenient.
"That's great! I'm so happy for you, we have to celebrate and throw a party!" She exclaimed, clapping her hands together. I nodded happily in agreement. I definitely wanted to plan a little something, it was the first place I would be moving into by myself after all.
"For sure! I'll host it at my place when the rest of my furniture comes in." Speaking of which, the couch I ordered should be coming in tomorrow. I thought to myself. I could already imagine all the days my would spend cushioning against it near the fire-place.
Peeking down at the glass I had clutched in my hand, I gave it a slight swirl before tilting my head back for a taste. I hummed in delight as I felt the alcoholic liquid trickle down my throat.
"Yum! You always know how to make it just right." I said as I set the drink back down. It's true. Jiwoo made the best drinks. They tasted even better after a long day's worth of work though that's for sure.
"Have you met any of the other residents yet? A potential boyfriend perhaps?" She teased, wiggling her eyebrows mischievously.
My nose immediately wrinkled in response. "Not a chance."
"You aren't getting any younger you know!"
"Easy for you to say when you've got someone like Hanbin." I snorted. They've been dating for a while now and he recently proposed to her. She really hit the jackpot with him. Unlike most guys, he wasn't afraid to show or tell Jiwoo unnie just how much he cared about and loved her.
"He is amazing isn't he?' She cooed staring at the shiny blue jewel on her finger. My heart warmed for her. She deserved her happily ever after.
"Maybe one day I'll be able to find someone who looks at me the way he looks at you." I sighed.
"That one day might be now actually." She said with a light chuckle.
"Huh?" I replied.
Seeing the confusion on my face, Jiwoo quickly pointed in the direction she was looking at with her eyes. "I wasn't sure at first, but after a while it was so obvious he was checking you out!"
Turning my head to get a look, my body instantly froze when I realized it was none other than mister DJ himself. He was on stage setting up with presumably his friends, but just like she said, he was staring straight at me. The expression in his face unreadable.
What the hell is he looking at? Not liking his attention, I made sure he got the memo by giving him a couple of dirty looks.
"Seems like Kangdae has a crush on you Hana." Jiwoo said in a playful manner.
"I don't think so. He probably has me confused for someone else." I shrugged. Not wanting to press it any longer.
She raised her eyebrow, unconvinced.
"Oh? Then why is he walking over here?"
